I am going to assume not only have trumpet snails taken over my 20gal high ( got an assassin snail now to help) but that black beard algae is taking over my tank. There are tufts of hair like algae sticking out from my eucalyptus wood and now my plants have black dots and fuzz that won’t go away. I am considering redoing my whole tank because of this which I know will be a hassle so i’m trying to avoid that. Any advice helps, just not the rude kind!

(I have 1 male betta, 6 neon green tetras, 4 black kuhli loaches, 2 amano shrimp, & a few otocinclus. It is a 20 gallon high with a hob filter and a sponge filter, temp stays between 77-80 degrees, and it has a light with a morning to night cycle.

She’s the snail I have had the longest; my tank is heavily planted along the sides and back. Realized I hadn’t seen her in a weekish and figured she was hiding which she’s done sometimes. Only I saw her shell and picked it up…. it was hollow and had one of the most foul smells ever…. luckily I checked and barely had any ammonia in the tank, did a 20% water change and we are all good.

I use it to secure my boobs in deep V costumes and after a few times it’s looking crunchy and I want to wash the entire costume not just spots but wasn’t sure how to handle it.

Also I know the water looks gross, I rubbed all the crud off the rocks/plants and was doing a big water change. I noticed the flap of silicone i think i may have done while using the glass scraper :/
