I've been wanting to play this piece for a long long time but I've never really been fully committed to it because of the scales and weird turns... Any advice?

At first my chains were too small so i loosened them, then it seemed like my double crochets were too small so i used a bigger hook for the chains (2 sizes up) and a smaller and tighter tension for the double crochets

Both sides have even sized stitches, the tension visually looks immaculate, why is it still curling 😭
