Phantom Dog Boarding

I am a boarder with no dog of my own and it cracks me up how much I think there’s a dog here when there isn’t. I just get used to it. I’ll turn on the couch to pet a dog and then remember, oh..there is no dog right now. Anyone else have any weird silly stuff like this??

Who had a War Dog???

some old matchbooks from The Big Bamboo in the 90s. Amazing theming, War Dogs, just ignore the palm ceiling dripping on you. What are you memories of the OG Big Bamboo???

ETA: so i did post these the other night and it didn’t do well, so I deleted. But tonight I was cleaning out my junk drawer, and I realized I had three old big bamboo matchbooks. So I kind of wanted to post again because I just had such good memories of the big bamboo back in the 90s, and I thought it might bring back the same memories for other people, too. Anyway, war dogs forever.

fair enough

my name is not at all Hardev and i don’t have balls lol. I get these spammy texts regularly since my parents use my number for things since they don’t have cell phones.

i like replying to them with something aggressively weird sometimes, sue me lol calling him a communist was just a random choice and i certainly wasn’t expecting that response lol i think it’s mostly tongue-in-cheek but reddit will probably disagree and maybe you’re right

AI Little House Roleplay

I really enjoy fanfic-style roleplay, and i enjoy making good AI chat bots for characters. Curious if any of you chat with any Little House bots or which you'd be interested in so I could crate a good one.

Times when you knew the whole story but the internet didn't...

I am curious if this has happened to anyone else because it was really fascinating for me to experience.

I belong to a local hobby group that is usually pretty lowkey and drama-free. But a guy joined and it was clear pretty quickly he had some serious mental health issues. Eventually it got to the point where leadership needed to ask him to leave the group to preserve safety.

This person posted to an anonymous group on facebook associated with the hobby. They wrote from their perspective--that they'd been removed unceremoniously, had no idea why, etc.

Of course the comments largely accepted their account of events. Decided that they'd probably been targeted unfairly. Assumed a lot of things that weren't true.

It was really eye-opening seeing how flawed someone's perception can be and how the internet can feed into that. It was really kind of wild reading the comments when I knew the real story. Even being a person who has posted here for years and knows how these things go, seeing it play out with a real life thing was so shocking and strange.

So it made me curious if any of you have experienced this also where you see the comments react to a story when you know the full story.

No-kill shelters aren’t a good thing

Shelters are overrun. There are too many dogs. Dogs living in a shelters for endless months and years are not having a good life. They are only becoming more traumatized and less adoptable. A lot of dogs are not safe to adopt out to the average person with average knowledge of training and dog behavior, but they are anyway because the shelters can’t afford to be choosy bc they are drowning.

Making shelters no-kill is not the answer. We need strict regulations for breeding and consequences for people who do so irresponsibly. We need awareness about the ramifications of backyard breeding and why people should avoid it. Most people are ignorant to this.

do you like bonanza?

my parents watched a lot of Bonanza when I was a kid in the 90s and I always hated it, but i loved Little House, and still feel the same way X years later (we don’t need to do the math).

As a kid, it was because i found Bonanza depressing and boring. it seemed like it was always just some new person rolling into town, something horribly tragic/traumatic happening, roll credits.

As an adult, idk. maybe i’m just not big western person? i should be more into it now but i still just can’t get into it. i always see comments about recycled actors and plotlines. i guess i just can’t get into the characters and everything as much?

anyway, was just curious how y’all feel about Bonanza and if you get into it or not
