Where do yall get chord charts/sheet music for jazz standards?

Hey all,

Looking to further familiarize myself with the fretboard by getting away from tabs and using sheet music and chords only. Wanted to start with autumn leaves then move on to some other ones but I don't really know where to look for that kind of stuff.

Playing splatoon 3 online(pc)?

Hey all,

The game is running really well so no issues there, the only wall I ran into is being able to play multiplayer since the only dedicated splatoon 3 server is password locked and I'm not sure where else I can look to be able to play since most things other than the single player campaign are locked behind being online.

Masayoshi Takanaka's album "The White Goblin" has some of the most tasteful basslines I have ever heard in my life.

Everything just fits in the mix so well and the tones are outstanding and full. Interestingly enough, there were two different bass players (Ken Yoshida on tracks 1 and 11 and Ray Ohara on tracks 2, 3, 5, and 6) on the album and both were outstanding at keeping the vibe going. This concept album quickly became one of my favorites. I just wish more vinyls of it existed lol.

The White Goblin on Vinyl?

Hey all, I recently got into Takanaka and the White Goblin quickly become one of my favorite albums of all time. The bass playing is super tasteful and fits into the mixes so I'll definitely be learning some of those on my own later lol. However I tried looking up a vinyl (I don't actually own any vinyls but this album would definitely be the first one I buy) and the only one that showed up was on eBay for $300 lmao. Were there just very little prints of it? Or was it not popular enough to get lots of vinyls? If it was like $50-$60 I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Where do yall find scholarships for school of music undergrads?

Every single random scholarship I find online is exclusively for high schoolers. It's like they don't care about the people already in college lmao. I just want to afford housing so I can save for a professional instrument. My university's scholarship portal just shows me a billion scholarships from law firms or other random places. My mom keeps telling me to just look harder, but musicians are poor and can't give anything away lol.

Fretwrap recommendations?

I'm sure like 90% of the ones out there work, but I am curious about which ones people prefer, also hypothetically would you be able to hang a keychain off of one without consequence? I assure you I'm not looking for one for aesthetic purposes, I just want to eliminate string noise lol.

Can't config controller

Hey all, I was able to connect this controller to my phone (samsung galaxy s25) and it worked really well with dolphin emulator (gamecube). However when I try to connect it to delta it does't seem to recognize it even though it is connected to the ipad through bluetooth. Not quite sure what I can do to troubleshoot this.

Pieces for Trumpet and Basoon?

I know hindensmith concerto exists and it's a really cool piece, but I was curious if there are other pieces for this uncommon pairing. A friend of mine plays trumpet and I'd like to play a few pieces with him since he'll be graduating from university a year before me

Tips for memorizing the fretboard?

Hey all, I made it a summer goal to memorize the fretboard since it'll make it a lot easier to come up with basslines/fills since I have a strong music theory base already (bassoon and piano are my main instruments). Looking for what excersizes or resourses helped you guys when you were in my shoes.

Is there such a thing as a string that feels like a flatwound but has the zing/brightness of a roundwound throughout its life?

I love the way flats feel, but I really like the sound of rounds and I was curious if there's such a string that gives the best of both worlds.

Looking for some cool string recommendations (fingerstyle/slap in mind).

Hey all, the strings (D'Addario EXL-170 / 0.045-0.100) on my yamaha bb are getting old and it's time for a new set. I'm mostly looking for sonething that would have slightly more tension than what I currently have since I tend to dig into the strings when I'm playing finger style. Idk how much changing the tension would affect anything slap related so I've been a bit curious about that.

Also out of curiosity, is there such a thing as a string that is bright like a roundwound but has the feel/tension of a flat/tape that stays bright throughout its life?

Edit: I should mention that I would prefer through body strings. I believe the bridge on mine can do both ways but I thinknI prefer through body.

Cleaning the strings and fingerboard

Hey all, I've gotten to the point where I look my strings and cringe when I see all the grime. The funk is no longer in the gunk and I want it gone. What methods do yall use to clean the strings and fingerboard?

Edit: I'm might be slightly exagerating how dirty these strings are, they're about a year old so I think I can get more use out of them before buying a new set lol.

Hey all, I recently got into emulating games on both my phone (samsung) and ipad and I've been curious as to what bluetooth controllers people have been using that work on both. Most of the games I've been playing (pokemon, warioware, rhythm heaven, fire emblem, etc.) I can get away with using touch controls but for anything more complicated I would prefer to have a controller.
