Got this old M02 from Japan and slowly working through replacing cracked and damaged parts with 3D printed asa pieces I've been working on in tinkercad.
Eventually want to get the entire thing done fully in tinkercad and chuck it up on thingiverse as a open source project for people.
Even custom middle chassis that can take square shorty lipos eventually (still need to work on eyeballing the sway bar mount locations)
Will still need tamiya metal hardware and shocks but I want even the transmission gears to be able to be 3D printed and still take the factory amount and size of bearings and a cutting jig for the shafts needed for the gearbox ( the diff is the same parts as the m03)
Tires on this are custom f104 wheel rim combo cause they've been sitting in a box
So have a very unique issue.. My RDD1 drift kei truck is dead silent and and I'm having a little trouble with learning to drift without hearing my engine rpm, it's running 48p gears basically a direct drive like a pancar.
So I'm debating on squeezing a fake engine sound system into the truck so I have a little more audible feedback cause I rather not mess with the really spot on gear mesh
So what do you guys think of having a fake engine sound system in your drifter?
So the fan in my 2024 win mini gave up the ghost a week ago.., still waiting for the replacement to be delivered but have a road trip in under a day....
So.... I ordered a couple of steam deck fans an well ok more like three... took one completely apart roughly an the second one I took apart gently an even managed to rewire it to have the same pinout as the win mini.
Popped into tinker cad an started reverse engineering the original fan for the mini an got to the deck fan motor an blower to fit in a similar shape!
now you might notice I have a extra fan an to my surprise my coolmodule I ordered right when the kickstarter went live... finally delivered like two months ago but no shipping was given or anything it just... showed up at my door
Anyways the new blower housing is made out of ASA plastic and while the deck fan is 3MM thicker I did make sure the outlet choked down to the 7mm for the heatsink so noooo air bypassing the heatsink!
But of course this made another hickup that well the fan is to thick so... grabbed the gpd win mini D shell off makerworld an loaded it into tinker cad an made a D shell spacer and a fill plate to go around.
is it pretty? sorta?... wasn't really the plan but I don't have a spare laptop sooo for a quick one day made dash to make my win mini cool down again is WOOOOO!
the trim is still a bit on the tight side but I have juuuust ran out of asa so its superfastmatt certified "good enough"
Also for the curious in least mechwarrior 5 at 18 watts handheld is staying below 60c with the default fan curve in bazzite, I can do the other HHD fan curves an the device quiets up a LOT
anyways thought I share my tinkering, depending on how well this holds up I might just keep it an have the OEM fan as a spare spare cause I do have another deck fan chilling in a box incase I fubar'd this one
Modified the makerworld RDD1 chassis for 190mm wheelbase, made a different 540 motor mount and hand made a 8mm aluminum tube rear axle with brass ends and some basic shock stuff
Also made a under body framework that holds all the D12 body together an just snap fits to the back of the RDD1's hoop
Will be releasing the files in a bit just double checking any issues.
Heavily modified Cults3D mauler scaled up 266% from the original size so its a tad bigger then the original mauler. Custom side skirt spacers were made for when using heng long panther tracks.
Using a pair of injora fat viper 2204 2400kv motors running through custom 13.5:1 compact gear boxes and being driven by a repeat robotics dual am32 brushless esc.
Still need to work on improving the mechanics inside the turret cause the gun has a LOT of leverage against the servo and there isn't a lot of headroom space inside the turret to put a longer servo arm on but I'll figure something out!
