Just how good was Bellingham in the Championship?

For those who saw Bellingham play in the Championship, just how good was he? I know he only played around 40 matches for Birmingham, but did you know he would go on to become the player he is today? If so, what exactly did you see in him that made you believe he would reach this level?

This is next level hate.

I've never seen an England player hated this much without being involved in any major controversies or scandals. It's truly remarkable.

The Baby Mets make the core look like HOFers.

I. and many Mets fans, had issues with the core of Alonso, Nimmo, and McNeil. In the end, they couldn't get over the line, and I do think they deserved to go. However, my word, the Baby Mets make those ex-Mets look like HOFers.

They're more useless than a vegan at a hot dog eating contest. They melt like a Easter Egg on a hot day. They couldn't pour water out of a jug if I told them the instructions were on the bottom. They're as useful as a plumber on the Titanic. They're lower than tits on a worm.

Get these fucking Baby Mets off this fucking team.

The constant negativity is exhausating.

I swear so many people on this sub have no idea what it's like to be an actual fan. You're supposed to cheer the team through difficult times. This season hasn't even been that bad. We have Cohen, one of the smartest men in the world, and Stearns, one of the best GMs in baseball. They'll figure things out.

What exactly does a tempo controller mean?

I want to preface this by saying that I'm still learning about the game, so please don't flame me.

My question is, what exactly does a tempo controller mean? For example, there's this stat being widely shared on social media about yesterday's match between Portugal and Congo: Vitinha sets the all-time pass completion record in a single World Cup match — 121 from 128 attempted.

However, he created a big fat 0 chances, and Portugal were held to a 1-1 draw. Is this an example of tempo controlling? If not, can someone give me an actual example of a match that shows what a tempo controller should be doing?

All eyes will be on Kane now.

Looks like the big stars have woken up in today's matches:

- Mbappe 2 golazos

- Haaland 2 goals

- Messi hat trick

There's no place to hide now, so hopefully Kane has a massive performance against Croatia. I fear for him and the team as a whole if they lay an egg.

Bellingham will be a key player under Mourinho

Every time Mourinho has publicly spoken about Bellingham, it's all been very high praise. He specifically mentioned his goal-scoring ability, work rate, and arrogance. I think Bellingham will be a key player under Mourinho, which is important because he was being moved all over the pitch in the last couple of seasons. If Mourinho puts Bellingham in a position to maximize his strengths, this team can finally start moving in the right direction.

How good is Madueke?

With the Saka news, there's a decent chance that Madueke will play some important minutes for England.

As someone who hasn't watched him play a lot, how good would you say he is? My friend who's an Arsenal fan says that he has the technical ability of Olise but sometimes inconsistent decision-making. I'm not so sure about that.

For those who believe that low fertility rates is more of a cultural than economic issue, what are your proposed solutions?

One of the most hotly contested debates in this sub is whether low fertility rates are driven mostly by economic factors or cultural ones. Those who lean towards economics propose solutions such as financial incentives, tax cuts, or raising wages.

My first question is: for those who lean towards culture, what realistically can governments do to change a culture? My second question is: even if changing a culture is possible, it could take a very long time, negatively impact a lot of people, and have significant unintended consequences. Would all of that be worth it to increase fertility rates?

Why are there way more antinatalists in this sub than there are natalists in r/antinatalism?

Something I've noticed in recent months is that more and more posts on this sub are being visited by antinatalists. Not only that, but some of their comments get many upvotes. Conversely, I almost never see a natalist in r/antinatalism.

Why is that? Is it because Reddit in general is inherently way more antinatalist? If so, why would that be the case?

Why did the mood around Euro 2024 turn so negatively so quickly?

One of the things I still find strange about Euro 2024 is how quickly the hype and excitement going into the tournament turned into pure negativity. Right after the 1–0 win against Serbia, there were immediate calls to drop X and Y players. Southgate was lambasted straight away, and that reactionary, almost hostile attitude from the media and fans carried on all the way to the final against Spain. It’s not like England played particularly well in that match, or in any of the matches in the tournament, but the speed at which everything turned was still quite shocking.

That makes me think about this upcoming World Cup. Let’s say Tuchel starts Rogers over Bellingham in the first match against Croatia. If we get a shit 1–0 win, or God forbid drop points, will the media and fan switch up be just as bad, or even worse?

Isn't Stearns refusal to fire Mendoza another indictment against him?

I see a lot of Mets fans blaming Mendoza for this team being dogshit, and I personally think he's a big reason.

However, Stearns has made it crystal clear that Mendoza is not being fired in the near future. Isn't that another strike against him? It's not like Mendoza is going to fire himself.

Unless Cohen for some reason is preventing Stearns from firing Mendoza, I don't understand how Stearns not letting him go is not just another shit decision on his list of many shit decisions.

Bowen showing why he didn't get called up.

West Ham are fighting for their lives against a Leeds team that have nothing to play for, and Bowen looks like one of the worst players on the pitch by a country mile. He's the captain of the team and is putting in a 0/10 performance.

I'm not a Madueke supporter by any means, but fuck me, Bowen has been pitiful in the thick of this relegation battle.

Squad depth is important but ultimately it'll come down to the core players.

Yes, squad depth is important, and it's good to have strong backup options for each position. I understand why people are angry that players like MGW, Palmer, and Maguire weren't picked.

However, in the grand scheme of things, winning this tournament will come down to a handful of the core players: Kane, Jude, Saka, Rice, Pickford, etc. If those players get injured or are out of form, we're pretty much screwed. Whoever the 3rd choice 10 or the backup CB won't mean a thing at that point.

I don't understand why fans keep on saying fire Stearns. Even if the Mets finish 20-134, Cohen won't fire him. In fact, as long as the farm continues improving, Stearns will be in the job forever. The Mets could go 20-134 for the next three seasons, and Stearns will still be here because Cohen is playing the long game. You can agree or disagree with that, but that's the reality.
