Medical gaslighting blocking me from receiving testing due to being overweight. Doctor and pcp saying no concerns because “there’s no way you eat that little”

Venting a bit but also looking for feedback.

I’m on the waitlist for second opinions. However, now my pcp has put in my chart that there’s no medical evidence I’m eating only 600 calories a day and 20 grams of protein due to overweight and no weight loss over 6 month.

I’ve been advocating for years and my pcp and GI see this as rumination, hyperfixation, somatic symptom disorder.

The reason I haven’t dropped it is because eating this low has caused major functional impairment

I have reported this as well to which they document, “patient has fear of physical activity, patient has fear of issues with dizziness and breathing problems”

I do not have fears of them. I simply advocated that eating this little for such a prolonged period of time causes these physical impairments. They responded we have no objective evidence of that. To which I said which is why I would like to get motility testing.

Prior to the last 6months of 600 calories I was only able to tolerate 1000-1200 for the last 5 years. I have tiredlessly advocated and did not understand why they would not help until now I read it in my notes and I feel devastated and so hurt

I have followed their recommendations to show I’m not being difficult but the dietitian also can’t help because she had no recommendations based on my soy, corn, pea allergies. Also gluten free and dairy free. She reports in her notes as well siding with them

Where do I go from here? They also wrote all labs normal so no additional evidence of what patient is reporting malnutrition.

I’m scared as I have tried to seek help at my local ED and they view it as a psychological problem and send me on my way once my cbc, cmp comes back normal. I am struggling walking short distances, showering and doing basic things but they said “any normal person is physically impossible to eat that little and not lose weight so we have no basis or proof of what you’re saying”

Looking for recommendations for urine test strips

Hi all,

My doctor has asked me to track my urine at home due to consistent +blood (~250), ++protein, and high pH on routine tests, been consistently negative culture. It’s been hard to get in for follow up and to reduce urgent care visits I’d love to log when I’m symptomatic and see if there’s any trends

I know these aren’t the most reliable and I will still trust my body and more clinical testing. These will just be a useful tool

Does anyone have brand recommendations that are accurate and consistent? Also open to ones to avoid.

Thanks in advance.

Abnormal urinalysis, negative culture. Told to just take antibiotics, confused as doesn’t seem infection?

Recently had a urinalysis and had some abnormal findings with no plan of follow-up except take antibiotics. Urine was cultured and was negative

  • Blood: ~250 (positive)
  • Protein: 30 mg/dL
  • Leukocyte esterase: trace
  • Nitrite: negative
  • pH: 8.0 Normal CBC, CMP Normal EGFR

I am trying to understand what this combination of findings could indicate, especially the significant blood in the absence of a positive culture or strong leukocyte/nitrite findings. I asked if it was possible to send it for more microscope and she said no and prescribed an antibiotic

Main questions:

  • What are the most common causes of this pattern (blood + trace leukocytes + negative culture)?
  • How concerning is this level of blood?
  • Can I turn down antibiotics with negative culture

Any insight would be appreciated.

Is there a subreddit to ask Dietetics questions?

Title

Does anyone know of another group that’s appropriate for this? Concerning blood results my pcp is ignoring but believe it’s due to severe protein malnourishment. Dealing with weightbias from PCP and GI and local nutritionists

I need to update my phone but can’t stand the new font and changes. Anyway to keep the old from iOS 17

Title.

I need to update my phone but can’t stand the new font and changes. Anyway to keep the old from iOS 17

As, the title says I’m just looking to be able to update to the newer iOS however, the newer font and changes gives me really bad headaches anyway to keep it as the old.

I have a separate device that is my iPad that I already updated and I’ve tried even turning down all of the translucent features and I’m still getting headaches with the newer font and layout

Currently running: iOS 17.2 iPhone Model: 11pro
