15% off!
When thrift stores have 10 or 15% off, that only annoys me. People who run thrift stores should know that us thrift store shoppers are very used to 50% off or more. An offer of 15% off does not motivate me to look at the colors of the tags. It motivates me to leave.
Can you remember when The Beatles made you laugh the hardest?
For me it was “I Will (Take 29)”
52m, Addicted to my friend who won’t talk to me anymore
We talked too much. I cared too much. I made mistakes. I don’t know if she’ll ever talk to me again. I still need to write. For now I can write therapy letters that maybe she’ll get to read someday. Or maybe if someone else can relate and would like to hear about the situation, we could talk. I promise I’m not as crazy as this sounds.
I paid $2 for this
I ordered a few cds, so I added the We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper 7” to my order for $2 more. The disc came as described but they didn’t say anything about all this writing on the back.
52m Apparently 52 is the age where female friends stop responding
Words to talk about: limerence, grrrls, sahd, telephone, twee, pun, punk, exercise, marriage, Irreconcilable, resell, cassettes, thrift, vinyl, pen pals, confide, creativity, memories, trivia, fruit, farmer’s markets, record stores, history
Only 25 cents
Turns out it’s not nearly as good of a find as I thought it was the first half of a second that I saw it.
52m At this point I can’t even judge bots for being bots
It’s more of question of “are you a good bot, or a bad bot?”
John, Paul, George, Ringo, and Chuck
Gotta love the early stuff. The later stuff was cool but it just didn’t have enough defensive tackle.
Weekly head start
Another great thing about having a weekly goal instead of a daily goal is you can get started on it when clock strikes midnight on what was Saturday night. I get 80,000 per week, and this week my first 10,000 is done before 7:20 on Sunday morning. (Extra 154 steps brought to you by The GoogleHealth App Sync Delay).
$1.99 at Goodwill
I found this in shockingly good condition for a withdrawn library LP. It was the standard price of $1.99, but it was next to a copy of the Beaches soundtrack, which they bumped up to $2.99.

Thrift store cashier's first time touching a cassette.
The cashier didn't look particularly young, but I guess she could have been as young as 25. I got six cassettes so I laid them on the counter upside down because the price stickers were on the bottoms. When she started putting them in the bag she accidentally bumped one of the cases and flipped it so tape flew out. She picked up the cassette and sat it down on the case and tried to push it down as if it could just click into position and then she could close the door. Kinda like the same way you would put a cd in it's case. I said “let me get that for you” and took care it. It was quite clear that this girl had never touched a cassette in her life and had never witnessed one being used.
Q: What does CRC mean?
A: It means you need to glue the pressure pad back on.
10,000 is hard, 11,429 is easy
I did 329 straight days of 10,000 steps. That involved a lot of walking in the rain at 11:30pm. I also didn't like walking around big stores to get steps because the weather was terrible, all while I knew that the forecast for the next day was lovely. Worst of all was when it was a perfect evening for a stroll but I already had enough steps for the day, so my device that was supposed to motive me to exercise was preventing me from exercising.
So instead of steps per day, I decided to focus on steps per week. I knew it would be easier, so instead of 10,000 I thought 11,000. That would make it 77,000 per week, so it made more sense to bump it up to 80,000 per week. It's an average of 11,429 per day. That was over 6 years ago. I haven't missed my weekly goal once.
