Hey all! I’m trying to decide what model to purchase. I have some experience and a basic understanding of photography and don’t use a cellphone with a camera. Everyone seems to recommend the vii but I am curious how it fares at night time or indoors with lower lighting (restaurant, museum, etc.)?

I’m not a professional and really just use my photos for social media and occasionally printing for decor in my house. I see mixed reviews online about the 2.8 over say the 1.8 in the va. But again, if it’s just for social media will that be something I TRULY notice?

I’d appreciate any input and any of your experience. The camera would be an everyday carry and travel camera.

• Budget: around $2k US dollars
• Country: USA
• Condition: New
• Type of Camera: point and shoot
• Intended use: hybrid, but mostly photography
• If photography; what style: family, landscape, skate, travel
• If video what style: casual family memories
• What features do you absolutely need: built in flash (I don’t want to have to buy gadgets to put on), autofocus, can shoot in low light (indoors, night), a least a bit of zoom
• What features would be nice to have: it’s nice if the photos look great straight off the camera, I don’t mind doing a bit of editing on my computer but not too much
• Portability: compact is great, I usually carry a 1L sling and don’t want a camera consuming the entirety of the bag! Or if I don’t have a bag a size that can fit in a jacket pocket
• Cameras you're considering: I am new to this whole camera business and the options are overwhelming!
• Cameras you already have: I think I have a Pentax k1000 that I used in high school sitting around… it was pretty simple and I liked it! Bigger than what I’d want to tote around daily though.
• Notes: I see lots of posts about “just use your phone!” I unfortunately do not use a smartphone so a camera will be my everyday carry. I know that there are vastly cheaper options but I want something NICE!
