5 weeks pregnant, and MIL cornered me on the phone.

I’m 5 weeks pregnant with our first child. My husband and I are moving to another city in a month because he got a new job.

My MIL has always had major control issues, but her behavior lately has been completely unhinged. As soon as my husband told her about the new job, she started calling and scolding him, crying that we are "moving away just to avoid living with them." The absurd part? We already live separately in our own home! But to her, moving to a different city means completely losing her grip on us.

Yesterday, my in-laws came over. We established a firm boundary that when the baby arrives, my own mother will be staying with us to help me during early postpartum recovery. My husband explicitly backed me up in front of her, telling her, "She's the one giving birth, so of course she needs her mom." She tried pushing back, but we held firm.
Fast forward to this morning: the exact minute my husband stepped out to go to the gym, my MIL called my phone privately. She immediately launched into a calculated, passive-aggressive guilt trip:
"You said no to me coming for delivery. I am the boy's mother, how can you say no to me?"
"I know you don't like me, I can tell by how you keep distance."
Demanded I validate her feelings and confirm she was "right" for calling me to complain.
Subtly threatened me by saying if my FIL hadn't walked into the room yesterday, "who knows where she would have taken the conversation."
I didn't take the bait. I held my ground, kept my answers completely neutral, and refused to break my boundaries or apologize. When she kept pushing, I told her I couldn't engage with this conversation and hung up.

I am physically drained, dealing with early pregnancy acidity/anxiety, and furious that she waited for my husband to leave just to ambush me. My husband is ready to call her and confront her, but I am just so exhausted by the constant drama and manipulation.
How do I survive this , and how do I enforce strict low-contact so she never gets direct access to stress me out during this pregnancy again?

This isn’t the first time she is doing something like this. She has a habit of turning events for others into a shitshow for others. Which was the primary reason of me not involving her during my delivery.
At our wedding also she created a big ruckus over nothing, Insulted my family members most of which don’t even talk to me till now
She manipulated my husband for years till he finally saw it for himself when the manipulation was at its limit
I feel so trapped and scared
I have demanded that I go no contact with his side of family coz this drama will never end

iMumz App - does it work

I am at my first trimester, and early in pregnancy I want to understand if there are any good nutrition coaches and yoga/exercise practitioners that I can join. I recently found out about an app called iMumz but there isnt enough data online and cost is quite high. Any help would be appreciated, looking to join online sessions.

Am I wrong for staying back even though someone in the family passed away?

Someone in my extended family passed away.
When we first heard they were critical, I suggested that me and my husband both go to the hospital.

However, my husband asked me not to come because he was worried another family member might make passive-aggressive comments or create an uncomfortable situation for me. There has been a history of that happening before.

Initially, I felt hurt by being told not to come. But after sitting with my thoughts, I realized the biggest thing bothering me wasn’t that I wasn’t going—it was the fear that people would judge me for not being there.

The irony is that if I had gone, there’s a good chance I would have been judged or criticized anyway. So it feels like a lose-lose situation.
My husband has gone for the funeral, and I’m at home feeling anxious. I keep thinking about what everyone must be saying about my absence, even though I also know I was asked to stay back to avoid unnecessary drama during an already difficult day.
Has anyone else experienced this? How do you deal with the anxiety of being judged by people whose opinion you can’t seem to change, especially during family emergencies?

Need advise on how to tackle passive aggressive behaviour

I have strict boundaries with my in laws family, due to a lot of past issues and them being very pushy and interfering. Recently, I was on a trip with my sister and butt dialed my mother in law , she called me back and started being passive aggressive, I asked her how are you doing and she started saying I don’t want to tell you and all, and idk I just stopped like my brain stopped that now she wants some sort of cajoling from me coz she is MIL and I am at fault for not calling enough ( ps after a pretty bad episode of my Mil screaming at me, I started gray rocking her for peace of our relationship)

I just asked why to her answer, when she said she doesn’t want to tell me and she was like coz I don’t call etc. And mind you, my sister is leaving tomorrow , and I am just not feeling too good or too in the moment with her right now. It sucks. My husband noticed me n apologised. He asked me to ignore her and her comments. But we all know that’s not an easy task.
