Opinion On My Fallout Worldbuilding Project

So I've been posting stuff on this subreddit for a while, some of it got decently popular. For example my original Lyons Brotherhood military and later the revamp got a good amount of attention. I even got Top 1% Poster for a while. I've also been showing some of my art on the subject. There is much, MUCH more about my project than what I've shown (I'm just not prepared to reveal anything huge). I'm not expecting praise, I just want to know where everyone who has seen it stands.

My rewrite of Colonel Autumn

I’ve been working on my Fallout alternate universe/timeline. It’s more for animation, comic, or novelization so this stuff wouldn’t be experienced in game unless it was a scripted event. I wanted Autumn to feel like a villain that can be agreed with to an extent.

Colonel Autumn overthrows Eden by introducing the same logic problems Carrie (My Lone Wanderer) would have. He then shuts Eden down and makes himself President.

Want Autumn wants:

He doesn’t want genocide, he wants power and control. The world ended because humanity can’t contain its desire for bloodshed. So why not force peace by becoming the central power and authority?

If people have freedom, they will kill each other. So use water and needs as leverage to force compliance. Taking some pages out of Rango’s book, you control the water, you control the people. Nobody gets killed if everyone has what they need.

For Autumn, compliance and overwhelming authority is peace

“People deserve to live, so I decide what they want. If freedom causes suffering, then freedom itself is the problem”

What (my) Lyons wants:

Lyons wants people to choose their own path. He will help unless they refuse. For humanity to push forward, what it needs is help, not an iron fist.

They both want to save the Capital Wasteland, but they want it for different reasons.

“People deserve to choose their lives, I’ll help if they accept it”

Autumn- “You give them water for nothing in return, admirable, but if they refuse your protection, and someone else kills them?”

Lyons- “Then they made their choice. They should decide for themselves what path they want to take. I want everyone to live, but on their own merits”

Autumn- “So you value their freedom more than their lives?”

So question that needs to be asked is: Is survival worth sacrificing personal freedom?

Carrie’s Outfits

Here’s some of Carrie’s outfits. She not the type of person to wear things for show. She’s in the Lyons Brotherhood of Steel, a military, so she can’t wear whatever she wants, but on down time she wears what she wants and is also tied to how she feels in that moment (which is a very important part the Fallout 3 rewrite/alternate timeline I’m working on). She does particularly like clothing that’s too big for her. Something she can kind of curl up in

How do y’all feel about Lyons coming from the Midwest?

This is part of my own project

Elder Lyons' switch from Brotherhood purist, to humanitarian leader feels very abrupt. Yes, soldiers obey their superiors no matter what, but given how easily they all excpet this new idealogy, and the schism happens afterward, just doesn't make sense to me.

Here’s my idea:

The Midwestern Brotherhood is more inclusive, even adding super muntants and ghouls to its ranks and by having a symbiotic realtionship with wastelanders as well as being aggressive expansionists. This is much different than the West Coast who use the Codex like an iron fist. Lyons having sympathies for the locals means he already has this idealogy along with everyone who came with him.  After going throught the Pitt, he changed his motives to a more humanitarian vision. The detatchment that he lead were very familiar with civilians, so they were on board with it.

It wasn't until Lost Hills became aware of Lyons' existence through West Virginia that his chapter started to have issues. Lost Hills ordered a group from Appalachia along with Arthur Maxson to see what he was doing. Once they found what Lyons was up to, Lost Hills and Appalachia ordered them to convince Lyons to return to what they called "A true Brotherhood".
Lyons refused, so the group turned to his subordinates. The expidition's leader, Paladin Haylee Anderson, managed to convince Paladin Casdin to switch to the original Codex. He passed this new belief down to others. Casdin told Lyons that he and his followers would like to take Fort Independance. Lyons told them not to, after which, Casdin and his men gathered their belongings and left along with the brothers and sisters from Appalachia, forming the Outcasts. Lyons held no ill will against them, only crossing their names from the Lyons Codex and banning them from being mentioned.
After this, Lost Hills was able to get in brief contact with Lyons. They told him he had one last chance to change and turn away from what they called heresy, Lyons refused and Lost Hills cut all contact with him. The Elder Council ultimately decided to not take military action against him and allow his name in the Codex.

During the Broken Steel War (September 2277-March 24th 2278), The Crusader Special Forces team found MIA Brotherhood soldiers that had been turned into super mutants and retained their competence and intelligence. They sent them back to Elder Lyons who was surprised to see them alive. Lyons had never considered intelligent super mutants being a possibility in the Capital Wasteland, but the fact that they maintained their loyalty shows they still wanted to fight for the Brotherhood. This was during the lowest point in the war when Lyon’s was running out of options. He had already made a reluctant alliance with the Outcasts, so he decided to allow their clan to fight along side his and Casdin’s soldiers (much to the Outcasts protest).

Characters for a Fallout 3 rewrite I’ve been working on

This project is something I’ve been working on for around 5 years. The characters and greater story have grown so much since I first made them. I just wanted to put their backgrounds and dynamics here to see what you think. These are very brief but detailed. Get ready for some reading

Carrie Osborne:

Bio:
Carrie was born in the Jefferson Memorial in 2258 during Project Purity. Her mother died due to complications her father and the doctors were not prepared for (which Carrie would irrationally take responsibility for later on). After her mother’s death, her father, Dr. James Osborne, left the Project bringing it to a halt for nearly two decades. He moved to the town of Megaton where he struggled to care for his infant daughter. The town’s Mayor, Lucas Sims, advised him to go to Vault 101. Osborne gathered his belongings and left the town.

After much lobbying from the vault’s Overseer, he was let inside on the condition that he never leave. Osborne agreed and moved in.

As Carrie grew up, more and more people knew she was from the surface, and they bullied her for it. She felt like she didn’t belong there but never understood why until she was 19 years old and her father left the vault. She went after him and learned the truth about her origins.

While doing so, she met the military faction known as the Brotherhood of Steel. After proving herself by going on high risk missions and coming back alive, one of the group’s highest ranking members, Sentinel Sarah Lyons, vouches for her inclusion in their ranks. Her father, Elder Owyn Lyons, agreed, trusting his daughter’s leadership and judgment. Carrie was then given the rank of Knight and invited into Beta Squad in the Lyons Pride Strike Force. She would form strong bonds with her team.

Personality: INFP/J
Carrie is very good natured. Often not getting into trouble unless someone drags her into it first). She feels her emotions deeply and attaches meaning to everything. She is curious, observant, and has a softer appearance than most which causes some to underestimate her. She is more rigid and tense around other people and only softens around those she trusts. She struggles to trust people because of the bullying she received as a child, but when she does, she gets extremely attached.

She is extremely capable in combat which gave her a place in the Lyons Pride. Others believe she doesn’t deserve her status, and those opinions get to her.

Strengths:
Loyalty
Observant
Self-Awareness
Adaptive

Weaknesses:
Self Doubt
Clinginess
Emotional dependency

Hobbies and Interests:
Drawing
Biology
Engineering

Habits:
Collecting random junk she finds
Adjusting things that don’t need to be
Fidgeting with random things
Sticks her tongue out when focusing

Motivations:
Carrie wants to belong and be wanted at people’s side. She wants to understand what her father kept from her and whether or not her mother’s death was worth the purification of the Capital Wasteland’s water

Pet Peeves:
Misplaced gear
Things out of order
The screen of her Pip-Boy flickering

Jayla:

Bio:

Jayla was born in Wabash, Indiana to Danny and Elena Brandis. The area was under the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel. She lived there until she was 12 years old. Her family moved to D.C with the Brotherhood Migration Initiative. After settling in D.C for a couple years, when Jayla was 15, she met a classmate named Macy Shaw. They grew attached and eventually grew into romance. After a year, they both decided to enlist in the Brotherhood of Steel. When they were 19, Macy was selected to transfer to the Lone Star Brotherhood in Texas. Jayla never got to say goodbye, and it destroyed her. After which, Jayla (now a Knight Sergeant) went on a mission with her mentor Knight Captain Elias to deal with a threat of super mutants while being accompanied by the Lyons Pride. Elias fell in battle, Jayla dawned his armor and finished the fight. Sentinel Sarah Lyons saw it and invited her into the Pride. After they returned to the Citadel, Jayla went to the armor bay with Elias’s armor. She reforged it and combined it with advanced pre war technology. The resulting suit was designated the M-70 Special Forces Armor. She had a more personal name for it: “Thárros”. Greek for courage

Personality: ESFP
Jayla is very friendly, inviting, and ceaselessly sarcastic. She teases and messes with her squad mates. When outside groups mess with her people, she defends them without question. She acts as Carrie’s mentor and she wants her to follow in her footsteps. While she teases people she’s close to, she never pushes it too far.

Strengths:
Emotional intelligence
Spontaneity

Weaknesses:
Impulsive
Reckless

Hobbies and Interests:
Messing with people (especially Carrie and David)
Loud swing music
Collecting candy
Baseball

Habits:
Always has candy in her pocket
Walks backwards to keep a conversation going
Her bed is a chaotic mess
Never sits in a chair correctly (even upside down)

Motivations:
Jayla wants people to feel comfortable and push them to be better. She believes in Lyons’ vision for a better future. This humanitarian view gives her a reason to fight

Pet Peeves:
Quiet rooms
Uneasy tension

James:

Bio:
James was born in 2254 in Alamo, Tennessee in a settlement protected by a small detachment of Midwestern Brotherhood soldiers.

When James was 6, the settlement got raided by supermutants. His father had served in the Brotherhood before, and wanted to protect his home and family.. His family and soldiers told him to stand down, he wouldn’t and paid the price. James knelt down next to his dying father, holding his hand. His father told him to keep going, and protect anyone close to him, just like he did.

After the attack, the town was left in shambles, and everyone was forced to move. They moved to D.C in hopes of starting a better life. James enlisted when he was 18 and rose through the ranks. Sarah Lyons caught wind of it and included him as an honorary member of the Pride.

After a mission where he recovered valuable technology and the explosive destruction of a raider camp, he was inducted into the Pride as their explosives expert

Personality: ISTJ
James is reliable and protective. Instead of feeling his emotions directly, he compartmentalizes them and puts them into helping his people. He listens without judgment and supports people while letting them stand on their own.

Strength:
Loyalty
Protective without being overbearing
Steady
Consistent

Weaknesses:
Closed off with people he’s not close to

Hobbies and Interests:
Mechanics
Explosives
Maintaining armor
Vehicle maintenance

Habits:
Tapping on things absentmindedly

Checking equipment

Motivations:
James wants to protect people just like his father, which led him to join the. Lyons Brotherhood and its humanitarian vision.

Pet Peeves:
Misplaced gear
Squeaky bed frames

David:

Bio:
David was born into the Enclave ideology of fascism and genetic superiority.  After many years of silently terrorizing settlements and the slaughter of innocents. When he was 20 years old, after a mission where he was forced to open fire on children, he questioned his worldview, saw what he had been doing his whole life for what it was. He felt immense shame and guilt for what had been doing.

He fled the Enclave and was found by Sarah Lyons hiding in a cave, tired and broken. She brought him in and after hearing what he had to say, she forwarded his story to Elder Lyons. Elder Lyons agreed to let him in on the condition that his story would remain confidential to everyone except for those in command. David was let into the Lyons Pride soon after in an attempt to rebuild his worldview

Personality: INTJ
David is reserved and closed off but has a soft side. The only person he really ever lets touch him is Jayla. He thinks she’s reckless, but trusts her implicitly. His morals are strong, but his worldview is still incomplete. He often ruminates on his past, but instead of wallowing in it, he puts it toward his future.

Strengths:
Strong morals
Efficient
Good Judgment

Weaknesses:
Closed off
Intimidates without meaning to

Hobbies and Interests:
Training
Heavy weapon maintenance

Habits:
Triple checking equipment
Silently observing his teammates

Motivations:
David wants to atone or make up for his wrongdoings. He wants people to see him as a good person and not the one he was before.

Pet Peeves:
Hates wasting lives
Emotional confrontation

Dynamics:

Carrie:

Jayla has a very strong sisterly bond with her, teasing her any chance she gets. Carrie hates it at first, but Jayla is never being intentionally malicious. After Carrie realizes this, she secretly likes it

James and Carrie have a developing romance that they are very bad at hiding. James is very consistent in his actions, which is something that Carrie strongly values, so he becomes her safe space.

David was originally intimidating to her, but after seeing his subtlety caring actions, she respects him more as a leader than a superior.

Jayla:

Jayla wants to bring Carrie out of her shell, and be able to talk more and be more comfortable around new people

James and Jayla engage in friendly, pointless arguments. They work well together in the field

David and Jayla have a very interesting relationship. Jayla can climb on his shoulders, punch his arms, and nudge him, and he won’t lift a finger

James:

James and Carrie have a very consistent bond. They are so close that if you find one of them, the other is not far behind. James always finds Carrie standing next to him. He doesn’t question it, and she doesn’t even know she’s doing it

James tolerates Jayla’s outgoing behavior. He enjoys their arguments but she sometimes just talks his ear off

David and James have a very mutual respect for each other. They work on armor, weapons, and other types of gear together

David:

David cares about Carrie as much as a leader should. He makes sure she eats and gets rest. He checks her gear before bed like everyone else’s.

David’s past restricts him from wanting to be personal with the people around him. He is not physically affectionate. He has worked with Jayla long enough to trust her instincts and allows himself to let his guard down around her. She is the only person he lets touch him. Jayla is allowed to invade his space and while she is somewhat annoying, he tolerates it.

David has a deep respect for James. He is dependable and reliable, exactly the type of person you want on your team
