Intimacy Post Diagnosis

Hi all, im really struggling right now. Long story short I got diagnosed with HR HPV back in July. Early September I had a colposcopy and ECC that showed CIN1 throughout.

Prior to the colposcopy I had a very high libido- higher than my hubby's. Even after finding out about the HPV it didnt slow my drive for him down at all.

Flash forward to September 10th, we already hadn't had sex for a few weeks leading up to the colposcopy appt. After the appt I read on Google to not put anything inside for as long as I was still having discharge. We'll the discharge lasted until my period started so we were at 2 weeks or so post colpo of no sex- 4 weeks total.

We havent had sex (until last night) since the end of august. Last night it took me at least an hr to even get in the mood, another hour before we had PIV and then it took forever for me to "get there". I just kept having thoughts about the infection and lesions inside me. I feel broken. I feel sabotaged by my own body. Idk. I cant explain it but its making me so incredibly sad.

My experience with my drs office and the procedures was also very traumatic (ive left other posts in here about that) idk if that has anything to do with this intimacy problem. Did anyone else experience issues with intimacy after diagnosis/colpo? Do I need therapy?? I cant really afford therapy but I'm really struggling and sad. Sex is very important to me and now I feel like I've lost one of the biggest emotional connectors in my marriage and I'm spiraling.

Any advice is welcome. I woke up this morning and just hate myself for feeling like this, confused if I'll ever want to have sex again and just really depressed after last night's activities and my mood towards them.

Effects of Kratom post Paxlovid

Hi all, me again.

So over a week ago I was given paxlovid. Not sure why as I dont think I'm "high risk" for covid complications- ive had it a bunch. I only took 1 dose a week and a day ago when I decided I did not want to continue the meds due to the interactions it has with several of my supplements- including kratom. I took a single 2 gram dose of kratom the same day I took pax unaware of the potential high risk interactions. Once I became aware I stopped pax and did not take anymore kratom until 36 hours after my first and only dose of pax. I took another 2 grams and still felt nothing from it. I ended up getting withdrawals that first night I took pax and kratom together and spent the next 24 hours in the worst possible state while actively being sick with covid too. DO NOT MIX PAX WITH KRATOM, IT WAS AWFUL!!!

I ended up contacting poison control due to my experience and possible withdrawal and they instructed me to wait 24 hours from my only dose of pax and take less than my usual amount for a few days to make sure I dont get toxicity. So per their instruction I only took 2 grams for the next 3 days. Then upped it to 4 grams. Yesterday I took my normal 6 grams spread out over 3 doses but the affects still aren't very noticeable...

Has anyone that has taken paxlovid before had any issues with kratom no longer working despite being a week plus out from the last dose of pax? Will it ever go back to feeling the way it used to? Im getting worried because kratom is what I use to help my depression, anxiety and adhd. I don't want to turn to pharmaceuticals when kratom worked so good for the past 10 years...

My daily intake has been about 6 to 8 grams per day spread out over 3 or 4 doses for the past 10 years with occasional breaks during this time. Plain leaf only from a reputable online source- been using only their kratom for the past 10 years.

Thanks!

Paxlovid & Kratom

Hi! Just came down with the vid again (covid 19) and this time I was prescribed paxlovid- never have been before and ive gotten the vid many times.

Well i wasn't aware that kratom and paxlovid had interactions! Found that out because I have health anxiety and Google literally everything now. I had already taken a 2 gram powder leaf dose though.

I plan on stopping paxlovid, I only took 1 dose around 930am and my kratom around 1pm. I want to take my 2nd dose (it feels like im starting to get withdrawals!) But the internet has me SCARED!

Has anyone else taken plain leaf kratom while on paxlovid? Should I just call poison control and ask if I'm safe to take my next dose? It doesnt seem like there's much research out there with kratom and paxlovid.

Im just scared of getting toxicity or something else crazy. My usual amount is about 6 to 8 grams per day for the past 10 years. Today im only at 2 grams... so even if my body isnt breaking down at the normal rate, having 4 grams in my body at one time shouldn't be overload, right?

Colposcopy and ECC Experience

Hi all, ive been in this sub since july when I tested positive for HPV the first time, I am 30 years old. I was vaccinated as a child so luckily no 16, 18 or 45 but "another high risk strain". I also have ASC-US this go round. I had 1 abnormal pap- not sure what/why as I was early 20s and didnt really pay attention to my health like that.

Today was colposcopy day. I was informed there would possibly be biopsies but they weren't sure until they were in there. I asked about numbing and was denied. Im in the US for reference.

The initial part of the exam was fine, speculum was uncomfortable but no worse than a regular pap which im able to relax for and not tighten up/fight the speculum anymore. Then she said the dreaded words. I need to biopsy. 6 and 9 o'clock areas. The first one hurt really bad and I could feel myself get "wet"- im assuming it was blood because when I looked at the swabs and stuff coming out of me they were covered in bright red blood. They had a catch pan that was lined with a "puppy pad" type of linen under me that slid out from under the chair. I winced and my breathing pattern changed. The dr said "ooops tried to be sneaky, wasnt sneaky enough!" And told me to cough on subsequent biopsies. She took 4 in total.

I thought that was the end. No one had mentioned anything about an ECC prior to the appt or at the start of it today. I only knew something else was being done because I heard her whisper to her assistant to hand her the ECC. She did not tell me what was happening at all, in fact she never said anything that was going on the entire procedure except for the numbers and instructing me when to cough.

As soon as she went back in I got an immense sharp deep pain, it brought tears to my eyes. It felt like it lasted a lifetime. I squeezed my husbands hand so hard I left fingernail marks in it. I tried to breath in and out slow and deep but my body kept shuddering because I couldnt control the crying. My legs began to shake too. Finally after what felt like an eternity she was done. The nurse cleaned up everything and left for me to get dressed.

It hurt to stand up, my husband had to help me up and walked me to the bathroom. I didnt gush blood or anything like that though. I did noticed some blood on the linens and on the floor though. I did need to pee right afterwards, I think all the pressure triggered my bladder. It hurt a lot to try and sit and pee, about a 7 outta 10. Afterwards I was able to get dressed and put a pad on and a heat back on my lower belly/pubic bone area. And waddled out to the car. The ride home sucked, I leaned the seat way back so I didnt have much pressure on my pelvic muscles.

I've been home now for just over an hour- the entire time spent at the dr office was just over an hour. And I still am not bleeding so ill take my wins where I can get them lol. The cramping is about a 4 out of 10, it does radiate into my back and legs as well. Hoping that radiating pain will fade soon. I really cant believe the things us women can go through with NO PAIN RELIEF! Although if I ever have to have an ECC again I will NOT do it without numbing. I swear I saw God when she did that.

I should get my pathology back in a week so keeping my fingers crossed all is well and the only reason she did an ECC was because the junction couldn't be visualized fully. Thank yall for all the support yall have shown. I will be back with an update soon.

Feel free to let me know your personal experiences with this, if your dr did an ECC randomly during your colposcopy with no mention of it prior to the procedure, any results of paps/colpos you feel comfortable sharing. I admire each of you ladies who's walked the path, it's not an easy one to be on but here we are doing it, fearlessly (well sometimes fearlessly lol)

Rabies Exposure

**Trigger warning, child being bitten by a raccoon**

UPDATE!!!!! Thank you all for the kind words and shared stories. Im sorry to all the mommas who have walked this path your babies, this has been the scariest hardest thing for me as a mom. Luckily she never had symptoms appear before her first shot today. She was less than enthusiastic about it but its done now! She goes back in 3 days then again in 7 and then 14 days. Nurse said we are officially OUT OF THE WOODS! I will still be seeing what I can get our complex to do about the overflowing population of raccoons in common spaces though because this can NOT happen again to another child. I am blessed she found the courage to tell me before it was too late!

I just need a place to get this out. I'm trying to be strong for my daughter but im so riddled with anxiety.

This morning at 630am on the way to daycare my 9yr old daughter started talking about raccoons. We have a lot in our apartment complex. Sometime during the conversation I asked her if she knows to stay away from them because if they bite you you can get very very sick. She got quiet and I asked if she had been bitten by one.

She told me that about a month ago her and a neighbor girl were playing by one of their dens and the raccoon came out and had bitten her. I freaked out....

After lots of talking she said there was no blood from where it bit but she did see it's teeth and its teeth touched her hand. She didnt tell me about it because she didnt want to get in trouble. My heart broke. I assured her she would never get in trouble for letting me know she got bit, even if she was trying to pet it or something. I don't care how she got bit I just need to know so I can take care of it right away.

Ive been on the phone with my apartment complex, the drs, animal control, non emergency police and family members all day today while working. The dr said its low chance of rabies exposure but because in our state raccoons are a "high risk" animal they want her to start PEP tomorrow.

She has no symptoms, acting completely normal just like herself. She does have anxiety- thats been here since she was about 4 though. I also suffer from anxiety but im trying to be strong for her and not show it even though im scared shitless.

She is terrified she is going to die in her sleep tonight, I assured her that is impossible because she has no symptoms right now. She would have to have symptoms to die. That seemed to help a little bit. Looking up stats on rabies/bite/vaccines/rabies related deaths have seemed to help calm her down and present her (and my) brain with facts about this and not just fear.

I know the risk is low due to skin likely not being broken, it being a hand bite/nip, and none of the local population of raccoons has been acting weird or dying. We start treatment tomorrow at 330 but my heart is just breaking. Breaking that this happened to my baby, breaking that she was too scared to tell me, and im just a wreck right now.

Please, it doesnt matter if you live in the city, on an island, in the country, wherever. Make sure your kids know the dangers wild/stray animals pose, what to do if theyre ever bitten and how to spot a sick animal. I wish I would have made a bigger deal out of this sooner.

I know we're gunna be ok but my anxiety brain wont calm down.

From The Brink To Thriving- A "Tail" of Freya

Hi all first time poster, newer lurker too!

The post I'm about to make is extremely vulnerable and I went back and forth with myself about posting it for a few days, but if it helps even 1 person and their baby, then it's all worth it.

I was first introduced to Freya (yes like the Norse goddess!) back in late 2018. She was still a youngin, maybe 2 or 3 years old. Her story began before this though when she was rescued from a meth heads house by ex. She came to him in horrible shape, lethargic and missing nails and even whole toes. He nursed her back to health and by the time we met she was as good as new again.

As fate would have it we split up just over a year later at the end of 2019, but he did not ever return for his beloved pet. I assumed all care and responsibility immediately along with caring for a toddler human as a single mom and now single pet mom. I was still young myself at only 23 years old. I was clueless on how to care for any of them tbh lol. But. I did my best.

Over the next few years I got into a routine with the both of them. They got along really well too (no unsupervised playtime obviously). I thought I was doing great! I cared for Freya the way I watched my ex do it and really thought all was well in the world.

Both Freya and my daughter grew with me through my 20s and we became a weird little family. Fast forward to the end of 2025, I'm married now, my kid is about to turn 9 and Freya 10. My parents come over to get ready for my brother's wedding and notice Freya- my mom comments on how she looks skinny and "dull" and that she was sleeping too much. I kinda brushed it off and said well she's getting old. But the comment stuck with me. Was I doing something wrong?

Then I felt it in my chest, I love this lizard, we've been through so much, this can't really be the end. I began researching frantically, feeling like I was racing an invisible clock counting down the seconds until she was taken from me. I felt all the emotions, guilt, shame, sadness, like I had neglected her as I read through up to date care recommendations. I literally was doing it ALL wrong. I felt like the worse pet parent in the world. I knew something needed to change, but, would it be too late?

That same week I ordered a whole new set up, lights, food and even went bioactive with her tank. It took a while for everything to arrive and put together and everyday that passed id watch her breathing before I went to bed every night praying I'd done something soon enough. I couldn't believe just how much I quietly had fallen in love with this little reptile.

Luckily for us both I had acted in time, she slowly started to get her color back, she was still thin though. I slowly increased her bug intake not wanting to go too fast. The weight didn't seem to increasing though. Fearing the worst I even purchased Grub Pie and spoon fed her. It wasn't enough.

Then the diarrhea began in February of 2026. I thought it was from the turnip greens (she had never had them before). I stopped them immediately but the loose stool persisted on. After 2 weeks I called an exotics vet, they couldn't see her for another 2 weeks but said I could bring in a fecal sample to get it tested. About 4 days later she went again and I brought it in. Giardia. Sadly they refused to give me meds until they had done an exam on her which was still over a week away.

I researched more and found Bene Bac Plus. I started giving that 2 times a week until we could get in. Anything to help her. Then her appt came and we got Metronidazole. I thought we were getting to the light at the end of the tunnel. I was wrong again.

After the first treatment her parasite load was unchanged. I was dumbfounded. I had thrown away all her substrate, took out all uneccesarry decor and soaked everything including the tank in bleach for an hour prior to putting paper towels down as her new substrate until she was cleared again. I was cleaning the entire tank top to bottom after every stool with F10 cleaner too. I told the vet all this, along with her feeding habits, supplements and lighting. They agreed I was doing everything exactly as I should, some strains are just harder to kill.

This brings us to present day. She had a 2nd stronger round of treatment with the same care listed above and the vet has officially said her parasite load has went from a +3 to a 1! She is likely still shedding the virus and to bring in a new fecal sample in a few weeks. Due to all the anxiety during this I stopped weighing her regularly and just focused on making her comfortable and well fed. Until this week.

I looked at her while she was free roaming and really SAW all the progress we've made. I decided to do a side by side comparison. In the left Pic she is a measly 305 grams in the right a whopping 422 grams. She is 17 inches tip of snout to tip of tail, so on the smaller end. We aren't at the end of the journey yet but we've came so so far.

I want to thank everyone in this group for all the advice I've read from yall, all the recommendations, and support yall have shown one another. It really helped me become the owner I needed to be.

If there are any new owners or old school owners in here who read this far down, let her story inspire you to never give up, keep reading, keep learning. As new info comes out care changes and it really can help these babies live even longer. Im happy my mom said something to me that spurred me to look into the new up to date info for beardie care because my care was practically in the dark ages. Heck I was still using a red light bulb at night!!! I still have lingering shame for how I cared for her and take full responsibility for being a very subpar owner. The important thing is, I opened my eyes, researched, and changed accordingly.

I'm so thankful my girl is here and healthy and with any luck and pixie dust will continue to be here for several more years. 💜💜💜 I also added some pics of her eating, I thought it was adorable!

TLDR- 10 year old beardie was being cared for based on care from the dark ages and has made a full recovery thanks to the new info available and the people in this group!
