Stoked OH has had more rain this year.

Wasn’t there last year, so idk what it was like. But I’m sure yall remember the fire ban scare from 2024. Was legitimately afraid they were gonna scarp the whole festival for a second there.

Looks like Thornville has had a lot more rain this year! Hopefully helps with the dust and keeps us in the clear for another fire ban.

Fingers crossed for good weather this year!

Finally so excited. Life has been hard

Idk if anyone else can relate. But damn this has been a hard year. Been so incredibly burned out that for a lot of the year I was struggling to even feel excited about LL.

It’s not that I don’t love it (went 2022-2024). I’ve just been so burned out that the thought of doing ANYTHING, just felt so overwhelming, even if it was something I’ve had fun doing in the past. In fact, I haven’t gone out of town since LL 2024…so needless to say, I’m overdo for some fun.

Finally in the last month though, I’m actually starting to feel so genuinely excited, and it’s great. I was so worried I wasn’t going to get to this feeling again. But here we are, once again counting down the days.

I hope anyone else who has been feeling this way is now starting to feel that same excitement.

Can’t wait to see yall in the pit 🫶

Sometimes I think my ED sparked my IBS

TRIGGER WARNING! Discussing eating disorders!

Idk I just need to rant, but I’m also curious if anyone else can relate.

Lately my IBS has been flaring up again, and when this happens I can’t help but kinda get mad at myself because
I often think that my past eating disorder behaviors sparked my IBS. I never really had issues when I was younger, but after years of abusing my body, it feels like my GI tract just never recovered.

I’m 33 F now (34 in December) but for a lot of my 20 I struggle majorly with anorexia and bulimia. I was in a residential treatment facility for 2.5 months in 2018. And I am VERY fortunate that I have been able to almost fully recover since then…many people never do. Especially in the last 4/5 years I feel like my ED is very much behind me. Many of the ED thoughts feel like a distant whisper rather than a screaming voice that controls all my actions.

Despite much of my successful recovery, I feel like my poor GI tract has just never fully recovered. After years of starvation and heavy heavy laxative abuse, I feel like I’ve just ruined my GI tract. I deal primarily with IBS C (although sometimes it switches teams) and I feel like the years of laxative abuse has just kinda permanently turned off my motility and what not. Now that we are learning IBS is more of a brain gut dysfunction, I feel like this makes even more sense. My brain and gut just simply stopped working together.

Idk, sometimes I get mad at myself for doing this to my body and that’s hard. Idk if i really need advice here (but feel free to share anything), I just needed to rant about it for a second. And idk if anyone else wants to share their experience, ide love to hear 🫶

I also really want to say, if you’re currently dealing with an ED, I feel for you so hard, and recovery is totally possible.

Does fiber make your IBS C worse too?

I deal predominantly with IBS C symptoms and have for years.

Obviously a lot of us in the IBS community have heard the “just add more fiber” comment, but man, I feel like every time I do, I get so much more constipated and usually deal with worse gas and bloating.

I’ve tried just eating more fiber naturally and supplementing and have never really found a good option. I’ve heard that you just need to give your gut time to adjust, but idk that ever seems to happen for me. Or I get so uncomfortable that I have to stop before I get to that point.

Curious if anyone else experiences the same thing, and curious if anyone else used to, but ended up finding something that helped them?

Edit: kinda want to try again, because for me, the constipation isn’t so much that the stool is too dry/hard to pass. It’s more of that feeling like, my gut just won’t push it out, like it’s too soft to get any traction. lol it almost feels like, when there’s not enough tooth paste in the tube to push more out….so sorry if that’s gross gross, but it’s the best way I can describe it lol.

I’ve had the parasite! Ask me anything!

Hi all I had Cyclospora 4 years ago and I also have IBS, I made a post a couple weeks ago https://www.reddit.com/r/ibs/s/esjiQU8O1z but I’ve seen a number of people asking in the last day or so, so I wanted to post again in hopes that new people can get info.

If you have questions ide love to help you get some answers based on my experience.

Long story short, I realized that it was an issue after experiencing NEW symptoms (nausea and vomiting) and symptoms that were more extreme than usual compared to my normal IBS symptoms.

Symptoms also come in waves in way that feels kinda different from IBS.

Adding to my last Cyclospora post

Hi friends, added an edit to my original post https://www.reddit.com/r/ibs/s/D4DQwjIxnh , but wanted to share some extra info incase anyone didn’t see the edit. People have been asking some additional questions.

You contract the parasite by eating RAW contaminated produce. Usually cooked produce is considered safe. The source of the outbreak has not yet been identified.

Only one drug treats Cyclospora, it’s called Bactrim. Some people have allergies to this drug.

If you are allergic or have other health conditions and have questions, I would recommend consulting a health care professional.

You can also reach out to the CDC directly for more information https://www.cdc.gov/cdc-info/forms/contact-us.html

If you do have allergies to the drug, or are unable to take it. It’s recommended that you avoid eating raw produce until the source has been identified.

Again, shared this information to this sub since I know many of us already have gut issues and might not seek care thinking it’s just a flare up. Again, if you have been experiencing worse than usual symptoms, or symptoms that don’t line up with your usual IBS, I would recommend getting tested/ talking to your doctor.

Cyclospora outbreak in US! Important!

If you have abruptly started experiencing extreme symptoms, or new symptoms that don’t track with your IBS please read!

Hi friends! Could be really important for us IBS friends in the US!

Currently there is a Cyclospora outbreak occurring in the US, I’ll link the CDC article about it. Why is this important?

For us IBS people, obviously we are used to experiencing bad GI symptoms, but if you have been having really extreme symptoms, worse than usual diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, and just extreme gut pain, this might be worth looking into.

I had it about 4 years ago, and I thought it was just a bad IBS flare up. It then progressed to nausea and some vomiting, and I figured it was food poisoning. After dealing with extreme symptoms for a week or so, I figured it was something worse. A stool test confirmed it was Cyclospora. Once we knew that, they were able to prescribe specific antibiotics.

BUT THERES MORE! Obviously for IBS peeps, our guts get thrown off easily. The Cyclospora also induced SIBO, and I then had to be treated for that separately.

Just wanted to share, since I know many of us are used to dealing with gut issues. It took me longer to get checked out because of that. But if you are experiencing worse than usual symptoms, or symptoms that don’t usually track with your IBS, please consider talking to your doctor. They can confirm if you have the parasite through a stool test. Luckily once I treated the Cyclospora and SIBO, I felt pretty good.

Again, to my knowledge this is only happening in the US, but thought it would be important to share in this community.

Tips for dyeing synthetic hair.

Hello cosplay friends. I’m not sure where to post this, but I feel like if any community is going to know the answers it’s this one. (Also if there is another sub that would be more appropriate please let me know)

I’m looking for tips for dyeing synthetic hair. I need a technique that I can hand paint, so I don’t think fabric dye will work(my understanding is you have to use the boiling method for that?)

I’m trying to make a rainbow ombré effect (see photos) I’ve been experimenting with alcohol based dyes. They are working alright, but I’m having a hard time getting the saturation to be at the right level. I’m going for a dark rainbow (hints the darker colors). But even when I tried making a standard rainbow with vibrant colors, I still had trouble with color saturation. And to add, I’ve been working or pure white crochet hair, which I think is similar to what they use on most wigs. It’s not kanekalon.

If anyone has tips on techniques, products, or specific hair fibers, I would love to know. Specifically if anyone has tips for really getting the colors saturated, please let me know.

Thank you in advance!

To poop, or not to poop?

A humorous rant.

Lol so I had a bought of bad nausea the other week (not IBS related), and ended up having to take a zofran and some other meds for that. And boy did that set off a domino effect.

The zofran made me horribly constipated like one of the worst episodes of it I’ve had in years (generally I deal with more IBSc symptoms). I don’t like to use stimulant laxatives, but sometimes when IM THIS BAD, it’s the only thing that works and I don’t want to get a blockage. So of course I did that, and then had HORRIBLE diarrhea, so THEN my dumb ass took a pepto to fix that, which then set off more constipation (luckily not as bad as before), which then set off the hemorrhoids and horrible trapped gas 😂😂😂.

And now I’m just all messed up lol. This is karma for making a post about how my IBS has gotten a lot better, which in general it has, but I certainly still have my moments.

Can anyone else relate to this lol?

Birth control has really helped my IBSc

Let me preface by saying, everyone’s body responds differently to birth control and medication. So this may not be the case for you, but wanted to share because it might be worth looking into/talking to your doctor about.

I started noticing that my IBSc symptoms would get really bad around my period. And yall know how it goes with period symptoms. It’s like once your body finally regulates again, the cycle starts over and it’s a never ending struggle.

I was taking birth control pills just to prevent pregnancy, but one day I asked my doctor if I could skip the sugar pills (that allow you to actually get your period) and just go straight into the next pack. Essentially skipping my period. And she said that was safe to try, but that I should still let myself get my period every few months.

It’s really helped my symptoms. And maybe could help IBSd as well. In the past I had more IBSd symptoms and they would also sometimes flare up around my period.

Again, definitely talk to your doctor before just trying this. But I wanted to share this tip. Might be worth asking about.

Edit:

I was suspicious about endometriosis and got tested for that. Fortunately that was not my issue, but that could also be something to ask about if you have severe symptoms around your cycle.

34, maybe experiencing hot flashes?

Hi friends,

Will preface, I am planning on seeing my GP, but in the meantime, thought it might be helpful to connect with other women, especially if I need to advocate for myself. TRIGGER WARNING for people with emetophobia.

I’m 34, which I realize is pretty young (but not impossible) and I’ve been experiencing episodes that might resemble hot flashes. Wondering if anyone else has experience Somthing similar.

The episodes have happened several times over the last year, but recently, I had two episodes in close succession, and one of them was more extreme than usual.

I wake up in the middle of the night being overheated and sweaty, and that’s followed by a wave of nausea, and feeling of anxiety. Previously, I never actually vomited from these episodes and the nausea would usually subside within an hour or so.

This past week was different. The nausea was overwhelming and I proceeded to dry heave for several hours. Hardly anything came up, so I doubt it was food poisoning (which I’ve experienced before) and I don’t think it was intense enough to be a stomach bug (no other GI symptoms). I chalked it up to somthing I ate (even though nothing really came out and I had only eaten leftovers that didn’t make me sick the day before), but then I had a similar experience a couple days later.

The second episode didn’t make me vomit, but there was nausea. This episode stood out because the wave of heat that came over me was SO intense. Like I could literally feel it rush over me and I was sweating profusely. This feels different from anything I’ve experienced before.

I’ve had some other possible symptoms too, hair just isn’t what it used to be, headaches, general brain fog and fatigue, but I could chalk that up to other things in my life, so it’s hard to say.

I take birth control to skip my period (helps with IBS symptoms that have nothing to do with nausea or vomiting) so I don’t know if my cycle has changed.

Also curious if there are any other not obvious symptoms that maybe I’ve missed.

Anyway, sorry for such a long post. I’m just curious if anyone else has experienced something similar. I feel like I’m going crazy, but idk.

A very TMI/hilarious/helpful story for the girlies here

For IBSc. LOL don’t know if I should tag this as humor, tip, or just overall traumatic. BUT I figured I would share, because one, I’m slightly traumatized and need to vent, and two for my girlies out there, this really helped.

This is TMI so trigger warning there. I’ll try to keep it as PG as possible, but let me first set the scene.

So I deal mostly with IBSc, and yesterday I was dealing with that in full force. I was sitting in the toilet, fighting for my life, just trying to go and nothing was working. I could feel that something was right there at the end of the tunnel but just wouldn’t go. Literally almost in tears, and then all of the sudden, like a shining beacon of light I remembered a random instagram comment I read.

This only works for women. So obviously we have the canal in which we go to the bathroom from, and the other canal in which we birth babies from 😂. Those two canals are pretty much right on top of each other and not separated by much.

The woman explained that if you are straining , you can insert a finger (not into your butt, but other hole) and press down to essentially help the colon push out what needs to come out.

So I’m sitting there, and I’m like, idk if I have the strength to do what needs to be done. “Like no, I can’t do that, that too much” but desperate times call for desperate measures. So I did what I had to do. And ladies, when I tell you it worked flawlessly. It wasn’t messy, it wasn’t painful, it was instant relief. You definitely want to be gentle with it, but yeah it worked.

So god bless that women, wherever you are, for posting that comment.

Just needed to vent, but also it really helped. So yeah, there yah go.

Zbrush on iPad review!

Hi yall, had some people asking me about how Zbrush on iPad works, so here’s a little review/preview.

Been using the iPad since I don’t have my Wacom and PC at the moment.

Overall I’m really impressed with how the program works on iPad. So far I haven’t had an issues running the program. No unusual lag or crashes. Obviously there are differences with the interface, but as far as I know, all the tools are available for the iPad version now. Game changer since they’ve added zmodler and cloth sim. I kept saying it has “all the basic stuff” but it really has everything.

Biggest difference/learning curve is not having keyboard hot keys (which I was very reliant on before) but once you get used to the interface, I think they’ve done a great job optimizing for tablet.

Definitely give it a go.

Turning regular brushes into cloth sim brushes?

Another question. A while back I remember watching a cloth sim tutorial where someone showed how to turn a regular brush (like DamStandard) into cloth sim brushes. I don’t know if I’m explaining it correctly. For the life of me I can’t find the tutorial again.

But I feel like he went into the brush setting and essential made it so that it would act like a cloth sim brush instead of just a regular brush.

Anyone have any idea what I’m talking about? And if so, how does one do that. I know you can go into the elasticity settings and turn up simulation iterations, but I feel like there was more to it than that.

Anyway, sorry for so many questions lately, and happy sculpting!

Help with cloth sim!

Hey yall, I attached a video to show the issue which is the following.

I’m sculpting this corset and trying to add some soft cloth rippling next to the boning. I’m trying to use some of the cloth sim brushes which are awesome.

The issue is, they only seem to working properly on the lower subdivision (you can see in the first part of the video). When I try to apply them on the higher subdivision, that just act really strange (can see in the second half).

I’m still pretty new to using the cloth sim feature so I’m not super savvy with it. I can just do it on the lower subdivision if necessary, but it would be nice to see it on the higher subdivision if I can.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening and how to potentially fix it?

Thanks!
