some of my grafted adeniums blooming! πΊ
while i usually collect seedgrowns, i also have grafted ones, and they sure do know how to put on a show! ππ±
less than a year old seedgrown desert rose. love its wineπ· colored flower.
used to be one of the most popular, and still a well-known desert rose variety from asia, Chai Lai.
after deciding to give and gift away some of my grafted adeniums, to make room for more seedgrown desert roses; i realized i still wanted to keep some of my grafted ones, and this was one of them.
i've grafted and used this variety on many plants, and i've always loved how generous it is with it's blooms. this time it's produced double-layered flowers but most of the time it's triple-layered (check last slide). i grafted it onto this young rootstock, and i guess i'm keeping this one. β€οΈ
my beauty mama seedgrown. can't even repot it because it keeps on bloomin! πΉ
she had grown into a natural bonsai, no root training (yet), so excited to move her into a bonsai pot! βΌοΈ
her name is josephine.
gave some of my adenium arabicums a haircut, after which showed the number of branches. i didn't expect that they would have grown so much branches. βΌοΈ defoliating arabicums would really help the sun reach those upcoming stems and in turn, give me fatter caudices π
they're less than a year old.
a before and after.
gave some of my adenium arabicums haircuts, showing off their beautiful caudices. π
they know they're very mindful, very demure.
my seedgrown desert rose with fuzzy-velvety leaves, almost looking like an azalea with it's dramatic curly and star shaped petals βοΈ
named her, abegail π
why did my reddit interface suddenly change?
the layout used to look like the bear post, where images were displayed inside a rounded card with visible borders and margins on the sides. now it looks like the plumeria post, where the image extends almost edge-to-edge across the screen.
i didn't change any settings, so i'm wondering what happened. is this a new reddit update or a ui experiment? how can i switch it back to the previous layout with the rounded borders and card-style appearance?
my seedgrown adenium flowering for the first time β€οΈ i already knew this one was gonna have big flowers because it has very big leaves π
what is this, where is it from, how old is it? this was passed down from my great-greatgrandparents. sold it two years ago for about 150,000 PHP or about 2,500 USD to a local buyer (he also refurbishes and resells).
said to be an antique. thanks.
yung kakain ka lang sa jollibee tapos may tatlong mingming na gusto rin ng jolligoodness πΉ
my triple-layered seedgrown desert rose, this is one of my favorites and she's gifting me these beautiful big blooms! almost looks like a peony ππ€
my adeniums are pushing new flowers despite a rainy week. most of these are seedgrown plants except for those in the 4th and 5th slide.
4th slide is chai lai, 5th slide is pathuma. both are very generous flowering varieties, but i'm planning on giving them away.
what would you name the rest? got any ideas? β€οΈ
the camera couldn't give this plant any justice. such a beauty. π€
I just repotted two of my Adeniums but both of them had exhibited these shrunken roots right after. I didn't water them for the first few days after repotting like I usually do, and it usually comes out fine without issues. I don't water right away so it doesn't root rot, but then when I saw these, my first instinct was that they were rotted roots, but they were firm (and somewhat squishy) and hard and shrunken, so I didn't water after a few days again.
It had rained for a few days, and they're still like this, but they haven't plumped up but neither did they get worse. I'm kind of disappointed and sad because the caudex and roots have grown so nice, and I lifted them up by a bit to expose the roots they have developed but they turned out to be like this. Can the roots go back to normal and will they get worse over time? I covered them with a few inches of soil or mulch, in hopes of getting them plump again, should I be doing this? I would appreciate any advice. π₯²
pollinated these two seedgrown adeniums. the pollen i extracted from the red, while i chose this butter yellow one as the mother or recipient of the pollen.
hopefully i get something unique π
