Beginner friendly spin classes?

I took my first spin class today and oh boy, I felt really out of place. Most of the class was off the seat, but I couldn’t keep up with that so I spent most of the time on the VERY uncomfortable seat. Then they added lots of arm movements. I was so overwhelmed and obviously not in good enough shape to keep up. No one made me feel bad but it was beyond my capability.

Are there any spin classes specifically for beginners?

Furniture refinisher?

I have a vintage wood dresser that needs to be refinished. Do you have a recommendation for a local person who could do the job? Preferably someone in the north area.

Pacific Thrift Store in Citrus Heights (Greenback & San Juan)

I thrift a lot, and live near their location, so today I visited Pacific Thrift Store for the first (and probably last) time. LOTS of furniture and nearly all of it was way overpriced. I’m guessing less than 20% of their floor space is dedicated to clothing. Interestingly, they had 6-8 refrigerators. Their housewares selection was disappointing.

You should definitely decide for yourself but that was my opinion based upon today’s visit.

Where can I buy outdoor fabric by the yard?

I want to make new covers for my patio chair cushions. Are there any stores in the area that sell outdoor fabric by the yard? I know I can order through upholstery shops, and online, but I’m looking for a local shop that has outdoor fabric on site.

Can I give a shout out to my favorite neighbor McDonald’s?

I’ve been going to McDonald’s since hamburgers and french fries were 12¢ each. Yes, I’m 👵🏻. In those 50+ years the quality has deteriorated, burger sizes have shrunk, and prices are so high that I now only go when I can use an app coupon. (Or the BOGO on the receipt if you submit a survey.)

I know it’s common to complain about McD’s but sometimes you just want something familiar, so if you’re gonna go, go to the best one around.

The McDonald’s on the corner of Sunrise and Old Auburn still has a play area, self serve drinks, and counter ordering for those who don’t want to use the kiosk. They always have someone cleaning. My personal experience is that the workers are fast and cordial. I usually go during breakfast hours and there’s always one or two “senior” groups that hang out for food and socializing.

I’m not affiliated with McD’s and I don’t know anyone who works there. I just wanted to share my experience.

Need recommendations for flowering vine in Citrus Heights (full sun)

I have a backyard corner I’d like to fill with a flowering vine. It’s full sun all day long in a South facing backyard. I have a metal upright trellis to use. *Ideally* I’d like something native with evergreen leaves, but I know that may be too much to ask.

Any recommendations for an amateur gardener? Also, where could I buy your recommendation(s)?

Looking for comic book and baseball card appraiser.

A friend in Curtis Park has comics and baseball cards they would like to have appraised at their home. They are willing to pay a professional to come to their home because they don’t want to have to transport so much stuff. How much stuff?🤷‍♀️ Have you worked with someone you recommend?

Where should I have lunch tomorrow when I report for jury duty at 500 G Street?

It needs to be within easy walking distance of the courthouse, and hopefully $15 or less. It’s been 10 years since I worked downtown so I don’t know what’s available.

Some recent changes have been undone at r/CozyMystery

The initial new moderator is no longer listed as a mod.

Also, AI-friendly has been removed from the sub description.

Additionally, one of the new-new mods reached out to me asking if I had a copy of the old community guidelines and rules. They said they would reinstate them if I had a copy. Hopefully there’s an archive or “undo” button 🤣 so they can be restored.

Maybe the r/CozyMystery sub will be able to get back to being the cozy sub it was 24 hours ago. 🤞☕️📚

The Community Guide, Rules, and Wiki for this sub have been erased, and the sub description has been revised.

If what I read tonight is true, this sub hasn’t had an active mod for a while. That was news to me because it seemed to be working well. I thought the previous community guide, rules, and Wiki were thorough and clear, and the sub description was accurate.

A new mod has been installed and has already ruffled quite a few feathers.

Personally, I’m going to continue to visit the sub for human produced cozy mystery content, and I will continue to object to AI products and unrestricted self promotion. If those things start dominating the sub, I guess I’ll have to leave. 😢

Death at a Scottish Christmas by Lucy Connelly

Just wanted to pass along my recommendation to read the Scottish Isle mystery series. The MC is a female ER Dr from Seattle who takes a job in Sea Isle Scotland as the local Dr and Coroner. Of course she helps the handsome and single Laird/Mayor/Constable solve murder mysteries. Of course there are new found friends that become like family to her. Of course she gets into predicaments. All the cozy tropes can be found in this series… and that’s why I read cozies. They’re easy to read and don’t contain the scary bits.

This was the third in the series and I always recommend reading a series from the beginning. I’m in California and I think I’m reading up to 6 cozy series set in Scotland, Ireland, and England.

I just got a windshield chip this morning while taking a friend to the airport. My insurance deductible is probably higher than the cost to repair.

Any recommendations on where I should go and how much it should cost?

EDIT: After a few calls I went to *Import & Domestic Auto Glass* in North Highlands. Though they were working on several other cars, they were able to get the chip repair done in less than 30 mins for $50.
