Good to see Fetterman stand on the side of good for once
Is the current situation of political warping/ratfucking (if you can even call it that) in Tennessee truly unprecedented in modern American state politics? Or ever in this country's history I guess?
Book rec: In Dubious Battle - Steinbeck
Book nerd guy again.
I'm a cpl chapters in and it's not often or ever really that I find a work of fiction that I feel incorporates issues so directly related to leftism. I just finished Of Mice And Men and loved it. Was planning on reading something else afterwards cuz I've never went on to a following book by the same author before but I just grabbed this cuz I had it in a hardcover Novel Prize collection I got, so I didn't have to go through the spine breaking process for a softcover.
Anyways, this is the second Steinbeck I've read and it's just as great and prob better than Of Mice And Men, which is now a fav of mine. And no I didn't hear about this from the lackluster James Franco adaptation from a decade ago, nor have I seen it.
I compare the two seemingly unrelated subjects because in those times, many of the "experts" or atleast those claiming to be very knowledgeable of fascism or genocide, seemed to be some of the most stubborn in considering the validity of such claims.
Yall can obv guess my stance so I'll elaborate slightly more. All I'll say is that I don't believe the claim that using these terms in those times were sorts of "boy who cried wolf" incidents. I don't think those using those terms at those times were alarmist or caused long term harm. I dont think they, myself included, had too much effect at all sadly, but that's my opinion.
Wdy think?
Thoughts on the state of the Iran ceasefire? I saw Trump rejected another proposal also. Likely outcomes in the near future? Have the likely or definite repurcussion changed much?
READ THE DESCRIPTION AND TITLE AGAIN BEFORE COMMENTING!!! I'm talking about specific events in the years between 1970-2001, really I should've made the title between Kent State and Bush v gore, but too late
Oddly specific question. I know. N sorry to cLoG uR FeeD!1!!
And to specify further I'm meaning in the neoliberal/reaganite years of between 1970-early aughts, and radicalizing meaning towards a broadly leftist perspective, like during 2020.
I know it's slim picking, which is why I'm interested
