What can one do when attacked by teenagers

Around 7 pm today in the City center, I saw a bunch a 4-5 teenagers attack an Indian guy for no reason. I'm not sure if it was racially motivated since they seem to harm everyone. What can one do to protect themselves in this situation? Apparently, you're not even allowed to throw eggs at them as a passerby since that's classified as assault. Pepper spray and tazers aren't legal either. How does one defend themselves or someone else?

Students planning to study in Ireland should be aware of this

An article in Irish media today about how Indian students are being targeted and taken advantage of by Irish education institutions and Irish government representatives, encouraging Indians to study in Ireland without telling them reality about the country.

Another attack in Ireland

A Bangladeshi man has been racially attacked in Cork. It's usually Dublin we see such attacks. We must all have each others backs and stick together as having brown skin can put a target on your back and it's very important to be aware and not put ourselves into unnecessary danger.

Walking in groups is a must.

Any NRI in Bratislava, Slovakia?

I'm have recently done a job interview in Bratislava, Slovakia and have received a job offer.

I am a single male currently resident in Dublin Ireland working in IT, I have Irish passport and am eager to leave Ireland now for a better EU country.

Wages are obviously much higher in Ireland but cost of living is insane, weather is terrible and biggest issue for me is the constant escalating racism, it doesn't matter if I live in the best area and behave in the best way, I will still have people shout or abuse me. And it is getting rapidly worse.

I no longer want to contribute my very high taxes to Irish economy where health system is dire (I fly to India for my healthcare which is much better) and towards social welfare for the people who abuse me.

I applied for many jobs in various countries but the only offer I received is this job in Slovakia. I haven't done much research into life there but visiting I noticed many great restaurants, the city seems like western Europe - modern, clean, small. Everyone seems to speak very good English.

I encountered no issues though only saw two Indians the entire time. I noticed apartments of good quality though everything seems expensive for local wages. I would earn good money by Slovak standards and I can rent out a property I own in Ireland where rents are very very high so this will easily cover rent with savings in Slovakia.

But how is cost of living in Slovakia? Any other issues I should consider?

Thank you.

How do I support friend with cheating wife?

My friend (45, M) and I both live in western Europe. He is married for 20+ years with two children age 17 and 21.

The 17 year old is still living with them.

My friends marriage has been bad for a long time due to what may be an undiagnosed bipolar wife. They have slept in separate beds always but had a good relationship until 5 years ago when his wife became more difficult with anger issues.

She flips from very nice and sweet to very aggressive and shouting without warning.

Recently my friend suspected his wife is cheating, she has never made friends outside the home/family but suddenly said she was taking day trips with friends from work. My friend investigated, she does not have friends at work. (different culture, hard for us Indians to mix, lots of racism)

A month ago she went for 24 hours and did not answer her phone or say where she was going. She left without speaking and gave no explanation on return. Just silent treatment.

My friend put a tracker on her car and the past two weekends she has gone to remote hotels in the country where we are resident. The car stayed at the hotel all weekend. Her husband called her on the phone but she did not answer. He can see live where her car is and has become fixated on following her, now he wants to install secret cameras in her car, trying to find someone to click pictures of her with another man. He has no evidence of another man, but she was dressed beautifully and returned next day refusing to tell him where she was. She remains mute.

My friend is losing his hair with stress. He is unable to focus in the job. He is likely to lose his job due to mistakes.

I have no idea how to help my friend. I listen and have advised him to avoid following her.

He does not yet seem to consider divorce as an option.

Has anyone been in this situation? Being NRI makes it extra complicated.

Is anyone else worried about anti immigrant protests?

I hear there are big protests happening in Dublin on O'Connell street and Belfast today as white Irish want an anti migrant bill introduced to Ireland.

Does anyone know the exact location of these protests as I feel all POC should avoid these areas for our safety.

Do other immigrants in Ireland feel worried about these riots and protests?

Let's make a pinned thread highlighting issues in Ireland for incoming Indian students

@mods can you please pin this thread?

Every day in every Indian and Irish sub the same questions are being asked over and over.

I am currently engaged in comments from Indians accusing me of gatekeeping because they think I'm lying about the housing crisis, likelihood of jobs, rising racism.

It seems every incoming student has no ability to search for previous threads. And even when they do, they don't trust the information given.

Then a few months later these same students post here seeking help, struggling to find part time work to clear huge student loans, leaving their families in debt, availing of soup kitchens, bugging every Indian they know to let them stay in their apartment temporarily.

Subs for the individual universities are not to be trusted as the university recruiters delete any negative comments regarding the reality of housing, unsafe areas, poorly respected degrees, etc.

Can we share some of the issues here for incoming students, to make them aware that life is not perfect in Ireland, and taking on debt is unwise?

Ireland is now the number 2 country for Indian students to choose behind Germany. Students have no idea how small Ireland is, how different the population between those two countries is.
