Finance in.the U.K

Hello, Im thinking of doing masters in the UK in accounting and finance field. Its a 1 year course with another year of work placement. Just wondering if it would actually be worth cause my end goal is to find a job. People I know have travelled abroad but came back cause they couldn't find jobs(in a different field btw) and this would be a huge risk for me to leave on loan basis. So does anyone know how feasible the work opportunities can be on the finance side?

Additionally Im also gonna try for a scholarship and will wrote both IELTS and GMAT for it. My scores being 90% in 12th grade and 75% in under graduation.

Any advice would be helpful please!

Overwhelmed CS / AI major wanting to study abroad in HK, SGN, US, or China. Where do I even start?!

Hey everyone,I am completely drowning in information overload. I am looking to apply for a full undergraduate (UG) bachelor's degree abroad, but the entry requirements, application portals, and visa paths vary so wildly between countries that I’m freezing up.

I want to double major in Computer Science and AI, with a minor in Robotics. I am trying to choose between applying to universities in Hong Kong (HK), Singapore , the United States (US), or mainland China.Since Robotics and AI require heavy lab infrastructure, I want to make sure I pick a place with good tech hubs and funding.

I am begging for a lifeline or a roadmap on how to manage these different application streams.

Specifically, I’m struggling with:The

Application Portals: I know the US uses the Common App, but how do I actually apply to UG programs in HK, China, or Sgn? Do I apply to each university individually on their website?

Language of Instruction: Are there reputable full English-medium UG degrees for CS/AI in mainland China , or is the language barrier too brutal for a 4-year degree?

Finances & Scholarships: The US and HK look insanely expensive for a full 4-year UG degree. Are there realistic, merit-based full-ride scholarships for international tech students there, or should I focus on China if I need a lower budget?

The Tech Ecosystem: For robotics and hardware, does mainland China (with proximity to Shenzhen) or the US blow HK or Singapore out of the water for undergrad research and internships?

If anyone is an international student doing their UG tech degree in any of these places, how did you navigate the application phase? What do you wish you knew?

Thank you so much!

Should i pursue master's in Canada?

Hi, i'm a final year student pursuing BTech-CSE from a tier 3 college in India and i graduate next summer. Getting out of this country is a priority of mine, unfortunately with parental restrictions, the only path im being allowed to pursue is a Master's degree in Canada (as they believe it's the perfect country for me politically, economically and security-wise since i have relatives there). However, everyone around me who are either studying or working, have been advising me against pursuing higher studies in Canada.

I don't particularly plan on settling in Canada, and currently keep an open mind about this, but i definitely don't plan on settling down in India. I'm not hell-bent towards Canada for master's, my parents are, but i am confused, unsure if i should try persuading them for another country or not. Hence why i find myself on this platform, is canada a good country for higher education? If not, what would you suggest?

Is studying abroad really worth taking a ₹20–25 lakh education loan in 2026? (UK, Australia, Canada or anywhere else)

Hi everyone,

I'm feeling quite confused about whether I should pursue a master's abroad this year, and I'd really appreciate honest advice from people who've actually gone through this.

My background:

B.Pharm graduate (2025)

Around 70.4% (no backlogs)

Currently unemployed

Interested in pursuing a master's in a pharmacy-related field such as Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Research, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Digital Health, or similar.

I also work as uiux designer ( can work part time)

My long-term goal is to build a career and eventually settle abroad.

The biggest issue is finances.

To study abroad, I'd most likely need an education loan of around ₹20–25 lakh (or possibly more depending on the country and university). That's a huge amount for me, and I'm worried about whether it's actually worth taking such a financial risk.

Initially, I was considering the UK, but after reading many Reddit posts, I've become uncertain because a lot of people mention struggling to find graduate jobs and eventually returning to their home country with a large loan still to repay.

Now I'm open to any country- UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, or anywhere else as long as it offers better long-term career prospects and makes financial sense. I'm also open to different universities if they're known for good outcomes.

My questions:

Which country currently offers the best return on investment for international students?

Is the UK still worth considering in 2026, or are countries like Australia or others a better option?

How difficult is it to find part-time jobs as an international student?

Can part-time work realistically cover living expenses, or is it just a small contribution?

How difficult is it to get a graduate job after completing a master's?

If you took an education loan, do you regret it, or was it worth it?

How long did it take you to repay your loan?

If you couldn't find a job abroad and had to return to India, how difficult was loan repayment?

I'm not looking only for the "best-ranked" universities. My priority is making a practical decision that gives me a realistic chance of getting a good job, repaying my loan, and building a stable future abroad.

I'd really appreciate hearing real experiences rather than information from university marketing pages.

Thank you in advance!

Summer 2027 Master's applicants from India - where are you in the process?

Hey all,

I'm a B.E. student from India (CS/AI specialization), graduated this year (2026), and I'm targeting English-taught Master's programs in Germany for the Summer 2027 intake.

Currently working on: IELTS prep, planning my APS application, and just started German A1. I come from a research + industry background with a published paper and some internship experience.

I know the Summer intake is less common than Winter, so I'm especially curious to hear from others on the same timeline. A few things I'd love to compare notes on:

  • dMAT: How is your preparation and what are your sources?
  • IELTS targets: When are you planning to take the exam?
  • GRE: What's your thoughts on GRE, is it ok if I skip?

If you're an Indian student targeting Summer 2027, let me know where you are in the process. Would be great to find some people to share this journey with.

F-1 visa approved at New Delhi in under 2 minutes, here is what they asked

I had my F-1 visa interview at the US Embassy in New Delhi yesterday and it was approved in under 2 minutes. I wanted to share exactly what happened because I know many students stress about this interview.

I am an undergraduate student planning to study Computer Science. My interview was scheduled for 10 AM. I arrived about 45 minutes early. There was a long queue already. I waited about an hour before my turn.

When I got to the counter, the officer asked me:

  1. Pass me your I-20 and SEVIS fee receipt.
  2. Tell me about your program.
  3. Why did you choose this university?
  4. Who is paying for your studies?

For the university question, I had prepared a specific answer. I mentioned a particular program and a professor whose research interests align with mine. The officer nodded and moved on. For the funding question, I said my parents are paying and I have scholarship covering part of the tuition. The officer typed for a few seconds and then said my visa was approved.

I think the key things that helped were:

  • Having my I-20 and SEVIS receipt ready immediately
  • Having a specific answer for why I chose the university
  • Keeping my answers short and clear
  • Being confident even though I was nervous

The officer did not ask to see my financial documents even though I brought them. But I was glad I had them ready just in case.

If you are preparing for an F-1 interview, practice answering why you chose your university. That seems to be the one they care about the most.

I am a CS student and I graduate in 2028. Until last year, I wanted to live the American Dream but after Trump(he's still the president in 2028) and these recent times I don't want to get my hopes up on that.

So, what are the countries which has a friendly environment for Indians in uni and gives better job opportunities? Also, how is the situation for Indian Students over there rn who have recently moved there or looking for jobs?

Can 10th + 3-year Diploma study Bachelor's in Austria 🇦🇹?

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to study for a Bachelor's in Computer Science/ Software Engineering in Austria.

My academic background is:

- 10th Standard (SSC)

- 3 year Diploma in Computer Engineering (AlCTE recognized)

The diploma qualifies me for lateral entry into the 2nd year of a bachelor's degree in India.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone with a 10th + 3-year diploma from India (without 12th) been admitted to an Austrian public university for a bachelor's degree?

  2. Did you receive direct admission, or did you have to complete any preparatory programme?

  3. Is it normal for Austrian universities to avoid giving eligibility decisions by email and instead assess qualifications only after a formal application?

  4. I'm looking for firsthand experiences, especially from Indian diploma holders or university admissions staff.

Thanks in advance!

Title: Is upGrad actually reliable for studying abroad?

Hi everyone,

I am considering applying for a Master's abroad through upGrad and would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually used their study abroad services.

A bit about my situation:

- I'm planning to pursue a Master's in Finance

- They evaluated my profile and mentioned I am eligible for the scholarship for EU public university

- My current country preference is Germany or Italy

- upGrad has been guiding me through university selection and has also mentioned scholarships and application support.

However, after reading mixed reviews online, I'm a bit skeptical. I wanted to know from people who have first-hand experience:

- Did upGrad genuinely help throughout the admission process?

- were the scholarships they promised actually legitimate?

- Did they pressure you into choosing certain universities?

- Were there any hidden charges or unexpected issues?

- how was their visa & documentation support?

- Did they continue helping after you received your admit?

- If you had to do it again, would you choose upGrad?

Upgrad is also saying they provide 100% guaranteed scholarship is it true or is it a marketing gimmick?

This is for Sept'27 intake.

I'd really appreciate honest experiences, whether positive or negative.

Thanks in advance...

Moving from India to Pittsburgh for MS.. what should I pack from India vs buy in the US, and what essentials do people commonly forget?

Moving from India to Pittsburgh this Fall for my Master’s and trying to plan packing/shopping. Would love advice from people who’ve already made the move.

From what seniors told me, it’s better to buy winter jackets/clothes in the US (more suitable + good sales), so I’m planning to do that.

Looking for guidance on:

  1. What’s genuinely better or cheaper to buy in India?
  2. What’s better to buy after reaching the US? (other than electronics and winter wear)
  3. What are some commonly overlooked essentials?

I’m already aware of basics like:

  • Universal adapter
  • Important documents
  • Prescription medicines

But I’m more interested in the less obvious things you only realize you need after arriving.

Specific questions:

  • Is it worth carrying a year’s supply of personal care items (soap, shampoo, moisturizer, skincare, etc.) from India?
  • Any restrictions on carrying multiple bottles of these in checked baggage?
  • I know carry-on has the 100 ml liquid limit, does anything similar apply to checked bags?
  • For Pittsburgh specifically, anything weather- or lifestyle-related you wish you’d brought from India?

Any Pittsburgh-specific tips would be really helpful. Thanks!

How early should students apply for a passport if they're planning to study abroad?

From July 1, a fresh passport will cost ₹2,500 instead of ₹1,500, and Tatkal will cost ₹5,000.

The extra ₹1,000 isn't what caught my attention.

It's how many students still wait until they receive an admission offer before applying for a passport.

By then, they're already rushing through university applications, visa paperwork, education loans, and travel bookings. A delayed passport only adds more stress.

If you're even thinking about studying abroad in the next year or two, getting your passport now is probably one of the smartest things you can do.

It's valid for 10 years, and having it ready gives you a head start when opportunities come up.

Just curious...

Did you apply for your passport before planning to study abroad, or did you wait until the last minute? How was your experience?

my_qualifications: Not seeking admission advice. Posting this as a general discussion on the recent passport fee hike and its impact on students planning to study abroad.
