Needing to put my kids in a new daycare just for one day a week - has anyone done two childcare centres?

I’ve got 3 kids and my oldest is in kinder at a daycare centre. Unfortunately the centre doesn’t have spots on one of the days I need for my younger two. But I only need this extra day for 8 weeks. I have found another centre we like and they have the spots available for them. I was going to move them to this centre for all 3 of their days but we really like our current centre, and we know that in the new year we can get the days we require.
I essentially need to decide whether to drop a uni subject (the day I need is for one of my uni days - I work and study), or just put them in a new centre until the semester is over In 8 weeks.
I can even pick them up quite early as I am home by 1pm on this day.

My question is has anyone put their child into 2 different daycares due to needing extra days that your original centre didn’t have available? I have heard of putting kinder age kids in sessional kinder and long day care but my younger two are nearly 3 and 15 months so they are a bit younger.

Back to work with multiple kids in childcare - tips and advice.

Heading back to part time work shortly and I study full time as well. Our kids are 5, 2.5 and 1. The older two have been in care for a while but in the next week or so, For the first time since becoming a family of 5, they will all be in care 4 days per week. And this is the first time since the youngest was born that both of us are working.
Can anyone share some tips, tricks, hacks, advice etc. on this new season of having multiples in care and two nearly full time working parents?
What has helped you all stay organised? Get everyone fed? Enjoy quality time together? And even how do you divide all the other life things that still need to be done such as household chores, life admin etc.

TLDR going back to work. 3 kids in care 4 days per week. How to manage the chaos?

Childcare day unavailability - enrolling in 2 childcare centres? Or only 1?

Does anyone have an experience with enrolling your child/ren into 2 different childcare centres? I have 3 kids, and my current childcare centre (which we really like, have been at for some time) cannot accomodate some days that I require for my 2 youngest. it’s preventing me from being able to go back to work - we’ve been on the waitlist for the days needed for months.

i found another centre nearby that has availability that I need for the 2 youngest. However I know that at the end of the year or next year our current childcare centre will be able to accommodate the days we need as they reset for the new year ahead.

I am tossing up between keeping them in their current days, and just putting them in the new centre on the 1-2 extra days we are needing. And then in the new year they can leave the new centre and just attend the original childcare centre for all days.

my oldest is in kinder at our current childcare so I will be keeping her there to finish off the year regardless, as she starts school next year.

TLDR: enrol kids in additional childcare centre for all days, or split the days across 2 centres in an effort to keep our foot in the door of our preferred centre for next year?

Zero prep / 5-10min easy meal ideas

Getting started with the med diet over the last few weeks. I feel a lot better on it! I am just struggling a bit on days where I am really tired, rundown or my kids are sick. It’s really difficult for me to motivate myself in these times to cook a good meal - as I am often exhausted and will resort to takeaway. I usually go with sushi or burritos bowls so it’s not all bad but it’s not ideal.
Does anyone have my minimal prep / 5-10min meals they could suggest?
I’d love to have a few options to refer to.

Increase in labs in a short amount of time

I’ve got a known fatty liver (genetic) and due to back to back pregnancies I have put on some weight and am now in the overweight category which seems to have made the fatty liver worse. It usually settles down about 6-12 months after I’ve given birth.
Which should be now.
Instead, it’s gotten higher and higher quite quickly.
I haven’t changed my lifestyle for the worse, in fact, I’d say I have been eating better and exercising and getting more sleep these past 6 months than I have in the last 2 years.

I have an ultrasound scheduled, but other than that my doctor doesn’t seem too concerned? I am concerned because it’s such a quick increase in the short amount of time.
Other symptoms I have is just that I get some mild pain on and off on the upper right stomach. And I am so fatigued. Like I can sleep 16 hours a day. Headaches almost daily. And my other labs (CRP) show levels of inflammation.

Is there anything I have be asking my doctor, any tests I should be requesting? I just don’t know what the issue is.

My labs are below:
January
ALT 24
AST 17
ALP 94
GGT 140
Bilirubin 5

May
ALT 68
AST 43
ALP 104
GGT 154
Bilirubin 4

June
ALT 374
AST 163
ALP 205
GGT 520
Bilirubin 4

Adult - Potential first infection? Waiting results. Any advice?

I’ve been experiencing what I thought was burnout for about 3 months. This past month it’s looked like having the flu on and off. I had a history of slightly elevated liver enzymes (genetics) but since being sick the last month I got some bloods done and my liver labs have increased a lot (like 500 GGT & 400 ALT). Anyway my bloods have just been sent off to test for suspected EBV, CMV or hepatitis. The doctor suspects EBV.
I’ve been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome about a month ago to, due to the high liver enzymes, and my kidneys excreting protein and overweight BMI. And I’ve had high levels of inflammation.
Now I’m thinking maybe this is EBV that’s been the issue for a while so I’m not sure if it’s the first time I’ve been infected or a reactiviation.
I’ve got 3 kids under 5 so I get exposed to viruses like literally every week.
Either way - what’s some advice on healing from EBV?
I’ve been too fatigued to cook good food and exercise this past month - how am I supposed to support my immune system in this state?

Am I being paid correctly?

My employer has wrongly classified my role, they have been paying me under the “home care” stream. But I am proving support in a SIL home, as well as transport and community access so it should fall under the “social and community” stream. However… I am being paid at level 2.1. I don’t have any qualifications or experience. So this is my first role as a support worker.
If I was being paid under the correct stream, would I be getting paid at level 1 or 2?
I work independently, only person on shift with my participant/s. So no direct supervision.

Edit to add: I believe they’ve been getting by like this because they are paying a higher level within the wrong stream. So if we were on the correct stream it seems like we’d be paid at level 1 so it would be less pay.

Metabolic syndrome & PCOS.

Hello. I am 27F and have just been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. I’ve got genetically high cholesterol and high liver enzymes. I also have PCOS. I was always a very fit, healthy and slim person as a teen and young adult until I fell pregnant at 22. And since then I’ve had 3 babies. Basically since I got pregnant the first time is when my weight (rightfully so) went up. The hard thing was losing it postpartum. It took me what it seemed 2-3 times longer than most other mothers I knew, when using CICO and exercise. So as I’ve gone through 3 pregnancies I am now weighing 85kg (170lbs) and I am 165cm (5”4 ish I think). I need to lose 25kg. I am a year postpartum with my 3rd and have only been able to lose 4kgs. I’d say I was actively trying to lose weight for 70% of the past 12 months. I don’t eat terrible food. I’d say when I am not tracking my calories I am eating at maintenance. So I know I am not overeating. I exercise most weeks doing weights 2-4 times per week and I am hitting 8k steps a day. I play a high intensity sport once per week (netball). I have little kids so I am on my feet a lot. Yet, it’s been a struggle. Recently I had some tests done and the dr confirmed metabolic syndrome. So I guess the struggle to lose weight is making more sense. I’ve been offered GLP but I am so hesitant to start a drug that I may have to use forever. So I asked for Metformin. Which I know is also a likely forever drug. I am just really down at the moment as it feels like I’ve failed my body and my family with my choices. But then it makes me confused because I am not really someone who eats poorly or is sedentary.

Any insights on metabolic syndrome gladly appreciated!

First shifts - non active sleepovers

Hey all. I’m about to start my new job as a casual home care worker. I’ll be doing non active sleepover shifts from 3pm-9am. Just looking for literally any tips and advice as this is my first time 1. Doing support work & 2. Doing a sleepover.
Some questions I have is
What do I bring? Food? Clothing? Etc. Do I expect to get a decent sleep or no? I am slightly concerned about privacy and such, do the support workers bedrooms have locks?

I have kids so I am sort of used to sleeping with one eye open per se so I am anticipating something similar to that.

Thanks!

Edit to add: I will be in SIL homes. And there are 2 clients in each home I will be working in.

Metformin or GLP-1?

My doctor has offered me both, leaving it up to me to decide which is best. I have all the standard PCOS symptoms. I’ve also had 3 kids in 4 years so my body is just really recovering from a lot.

My main goal is to lose weight (25kg) so my symptoms can improve (irregular cycles, mood fluctuations, excess facial hair, fatigue etc)

I am weight training 2-4 times per week. I walk 8-10k steps most days. I play sport once a week (netball). I have been eating in a deficit. It’s very hard for me to lose weight. A few months ago for example, I had my wisdom teeth out and was eating a liquid diet for a week, probably consuming very minimal calories and I actually gained 1kg.

What has everyone’s experience been on these two drugs? Are you needing to stay on them forever? Or can you wean off once symptoms improve?

Landlord not responding to request for rent discount due to no heating for 6 months.

Moved into this place in Nov. Had a compliance done in Dec and they found a leak in the ducted gas heating so it was turned off. Was informed that they would follow up and fix it. Fast forward to the end of March they finally had someone out to attend to the heater. Turns out they were fixing another part of the heater and not the actual leak, but that wasn’t clarified. I ended up calling the tradie and he is the one who told me this. Called my property manager who has just taken over from the previous property manager we had. The request for the heater to be repaired was never put into the system. So the new property manager has had to follow this all up. Finally we have a plumber coming out next week to look at it. It’s been essentially 6 months without a heater. I. We had to purchase some small electric heaters for the bedrooms (3 little kids) to use overnight. We’ve needed heating overnight since March. I emailed the property manager and asked for reimbursement for the heaters and for a rent discount on the past 2 months that we needed a heater and didn’t have one. Considering the fault was found in December I think that’s a fair request. I have followed up and there’s been no response from the landlord. What’s my next step?
