Next of Kin

I am logging into my hospital appointment and it asks for next of kin and I have no family or friends. I couldn’t go any further in logging in without a next of kin. My dad was still down as next of kin but he passed away3 years ago. So I left it as that.

Places need to realise that some people have no next of kin.

I just hope they don’t need to call him in an emergency.

Tired of my chow boy being attacked

Over the last year my boy has been attacked three times. The last time was tonight by a Weimaraner. I tried to stop the dog after it pulled its owner over and it grabbed me.

He’s my third chow now and I know some dogs just don’t like chows because they struggle to see the eyes and determine friend or foe.

But he’s such a soft guy. He’s a 2 year old therapy dog and visits old people who can no longer have dogs. He had three dogs piled into him a few months ago (once one goes the pack mentality takes over) and I’m getting nervous when I take him out and don’t want it to rub off on him.

If people can’t control their dogs, they either shouldn’t have them or they need to be on leads.

Sorry for the rant.

How do I fill this hole?

Old pipe holes in brickwork that went into bathroom. What can I fill it with? I have stuck a screwdriver in and it must go right through to the cladding on the bathroom wall. Went in about 20cm. I’ve got this stuff in the picture but how do I feed that back 20 cm?

Feel too old to get gigs - help!

I’m 50 and I want to go out on the club/bar circuit. I remix live using house acapellas and live input the beats and instruments with Maschine and ableton. I guess you would call it some kind of hybrid DJ.

I got interest from a nice bar locally and spoke to them and explained what I did and let them hear it and they were keen and said they’d be in touch. But I just got ghosted and I think it’s because I’m too old.

Upto that point they just had acoustic acts doing covers. When I went back casually whilst I was in town, they had djs playing house music and half my age.

Should I just keep trying and hope they value my skill over my age or just accept it and stay playing at home? I mean I keep myself in shape, I’ve been told I look younger by plenty of people, but obviously not in my 20s.

Is there anything I can do extra?

I’ve lived on my own for 4 years now and over that period I’ve had a few times at night where I’ve gone hypo and it was under 3. I would always call someone and they’d stay on the phone until my bg picked up.

Nighttime always seem to be the worst, you panic incase you pass out and no one knows about it because you live alone.

At the moment I’m on Medtronic 780 with Guardian 4, but I’m interested in a pump that can send live data and alerts to someone as I think for me living alone it will be safer.

How do you guys cope living alone with T1?
