When does open enrolment begin?

I’m currently waitlisted for see 100 and 110 even tho there is still space and I’m just wondering if anyone knows why?

On my schedule it says that reserved seats are lifted once open enrolment begins but hasn’t is been open enrolment for a bit now??

I’m not SEE major yet. Trying to transfer in it. From 2nd year cmpt

And I’m like 2nd on the wait list.

I felt like I wasn’t doing anything right and gave up to ai and now I’m extremely ashamed

I just had an online exam (writing) that at first glanced seemed to be too much. I’m a huge perfectionist and the plan I had made was just too much for the 3 hour time limit. We had 12 sections and I completed 4 in 2 hours… I then used ai for the remaining sections and submitted it one minute before the deadline. It’s been a few hours and I’m just sitting with that guilt. I’m tempted to just delete my submission or make a second one (I’d get a zero either way because of how late it is now).
Or even email the prof idk.

The work I submitted isn’t even that good. It starts well imo but then the ai has so many inconsistencies. I cited ai for one part of my work as a reference but not the rest (since it was basically a copy paste).

I’m super mad at myself because of how much I am against ai when it comes to basically copying what it generates. And I’m mad that despite all these years I just wasn’t able to manage my time properly and let go of my perfectionism.

I guess I just wanted to vent somewhere before I make a final decision of deleting my submission.

Student researching e-waste recycling safety — anyone with knowledge/experience willing to answer a few questions?

Hi all,

I'm a student working on a project about the health and safety risks faced by informal e-waste recyclers (people who dismantle, burn, or chemically process old electronics without formal facilities or protective equipment). I'm trying to understand why safe equipment and training are often out of reach for small-scale recyclers, and what could realistically help.

If you have any experience in e-waste recycling, waste management, occupational health, or environmental policy — even indirectly — I'd really appreciate hearing your perspective. A few quick questions I'm hoping to ask:

  • What are the biggest barriers to accessing safe equipment/training for small-scale recyclers?
  • Are there any programs or policies (formal or informal) that have actually helped?
  • What would meaningful change look like from your perspective?

Happy to do this in the comments, over DM, or even a quick call if you're open to it. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their knowledge!

I met my long distance boyfriend for the first time. Now I feel distant?

I don’t think in necessarily want advice this is kind of a vent. I’d love to hear other people’s experiences.

We had such a great time, but as soon as he left I weirdly started feeling distant. I don’t want (more like idk what to say) to text him, I don’t think about him as much as I used to.

This is completely unrelated to this sub, but I also recently started adhd medication and I read it could be related. I will talk to my doctor but yea

How to help someone with bad posture?

I recently met for the first time my long distance gf and she has horrible posture…. I even notice that her breathing is heavier and I suspect it’s because of the posture (I breathe the same when I look down at my phone for too long).

I’ve pointed out that her posture is off but she straightened her shoulders and her neck was still very much forward. And it feels like it’s been too long and too often to bring it up again 😭

Sometimes she says it’s because the bag is too heavy or she’s tired. But she wakes up with rounded shoulders and a neck that goes forward. And I think it’s a habit she’s picked up for several years now more than 10 because I saw an old photo of her doing the same. And also the back of her neck may have grown like that? When she brings her neck back, there’s extra skin.

Idk how to bring it up especially because she’s an adult now and she’s been doing it for years.

Edit because I was rude

Taking a chemistry lab? You’ll need a coat and goggles…

I have an extra lab coat (L size) and goggles (over glasses) that I bought then forgot home 🤦.
So this one has never been worn! (Only tried it) and instead of getting both for 45$ 💀 just get them from me! (30$).

Meet up on SFU campus or Surrey campus on Thursday! :)

I kind of (half) understand why some people don’t show up at the airport.

NOT THAT I WONT. I’m truly excited to meet my boyfriend but also so anxious. And as a defence mechanism, I feel like I’ve been letting myself feel distant (because of how weird it is for someone I’ve been talking over the phone for months will now be real in front of me…)

I will give him a big hug when I see him at the airport but I’m also so scared 😭😭

We’re literally meeting tomorrow and my brain keeps inventing horrible ways this could go… at least I know what places to avoid so I feel a bit safer. I guess this is kind of a rant.

Student looking for help!

Hello everyone 🤗

I’m a student in BC looking for some help to get some directions on an idea I have for a project.

It is about combining sustainability and crochet on a larger scale!

Please complete this survey. It only takes 2 minutes!

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z7ZYFXM

Edit: This survey is independent market research for a student venture idea that I hope to submit to SFU’s Charles Chang Institute for Entrepreneurship! Not a university research requiring ethics approval.

Bedroom cute decor

I just want something cute and cozy.
Like a mystical cute forest?? Idk if that makes sense.
Don’t mind the little mess. I guess you can tell that I like pink and green(maybe?).
How can I make my room cozier? On a budget.

It just feels like whenever people stare at me it’s like they’re trying to figure out how I got here. like how I got into this uni or even into Singapore, or how I have money to travel or be in certain places and in cambodia it felt worse. they kept asking for my passport but not even really checking it, just looking at the front and once they saw Canada their whole expression would change. like surprised… or like it didn’t make sense. and when I said I came from Singapore it was the same kind of reaction. and then coming back here, that lady at immigration telling me to go to the visitor's lane like there’s no way I’d belong in the residents one

and I know it’s hard to become Singaporean but like… how did she just assume everyone else belonged there and not me

like all the white people, Asians… no one stopped them

just me

and I keep trying to tell myself it’s not that deep

like when you travel people try to scam you or ask for money, that happens to everyone and it happened to me too, but this felt different. and I don’t even want to assume the worst, like maybe people are just curious or awkward or trying to be nice in a weird way

and most of my interactions are actually normal. but it’s those small moments that stay with me

and make me feel… off… like I don’t fully belong. and I hate that it even gets to me like that

because I know I am different, like I’m black and tall and a woman, I stand out. but it makes me start questioning things I don’t want to question like if I even deserve to be here

especially since school isn’t even going well and I know part of it is probably me projecting how I feel about myself onto how I think people see me but at the same time… you can kind of tell when something isn’t right

and that’s what’s frustrating like I don’t even know if I’m overthinking or not

and I tried talking about it with my friends and one of them just made a joke like “what’s racism” so I just stopped talking. and with you I felt like I already brought it up before, so I didn’t want to keep repeating myself

the only one who really understood was my Indian friend, he said it’s kind of similar for him here.

he was there when that lady was filming me and said he felt angry for me and didn’t get how I stayed calm but honestly, I don’t even think I was calm

I think I’m just used to it… which feels kind of sad when I actually think about it
