What kpop group do you think changed there concept and what’s your opinion on it

(This can be a group’s newer concept that you liked more than their old, or a group’s older concept you liked more than their newer concept.)

Aespa – I really liked Aespa’s cyberpunk concept; it was super cool, and I really liked all the neon colors in their music videos, especially “Black Mamba.” But I think I like Aespa’s new concept better because, one, “Drama” exists, and two, I think it would be better for the long run.

I-DLE (ULTS) – I really liked I-DLE’s old music; it was very emotional, gothic, and dark. (Before y’all attack me, this part will be about Soojin.) But after Soojin left, I-DLE’s music has gotten better because I feel like they shifted their music into being more confident. And even though Soojin left, it didn’t slow them down, and that’s why I LOVE LOVE LOVE their newer music.

Red Velvet – I just added Red Velvet so there could be four groups, but I didn’t mind their concept change. I really like both, and I don’t prefer one over the other.

TWICE – I was a casual fan of TWICE before 2019. When they became one of my K-pop groups, I loved their more darker-meaning music, but you could never really tell at first listen. Like, I don’t think if you told someone to listen to “I Can’t Stop Me,” they would’ve guessed the internal struggle and danger of giving in to uncontrollable desires

What are you guy's looking foward in 6th gen kpop

I know we’re still in 5th gen and maybe have a couple more years until 6th gen, but from what we’ve seen so far, what are some things you guys want to start seeing more of?

For me:

  1. More Korean lyrics — I know K-pop has gained a huge Western audience, so it makes sense for companies to use more English lyrics than Korean. But personally, I enjoy Korean lyrics more because sometimes the English lyrics can sound cringy if they’re not used the right way. It also just feels more fun when they’re speaking Korean and I have no clue what they’re saying.
  2. Girl crush — I feel like K-pop companies/groups aren’t doing girl crush concepts like they used to, and I honestly have no clue why because it was really cool and it’s one of my favorite types of K-pop. (Also, if you know any newer girl crush groups, PLEASE recommend them.)
  3. Longer songs — Oh my god, I feel like we can all agree on this one. I’m so tired of listening to fire songs and then they end up being 2:15 long. It’s so annoying.
  4. More full-length albums — I’m seeing a lot of K-pop groups releasing EPs/mini albums instead of full albums. Like, ILLIT has so many EPs and one mini album but no full-length album, and they’ve already been in the industry for 2 years.
  5. More creativity — It’s annoying how K-pop companies keep giving groups EDM/loud-sounding music even if it’s not really their style. I know groups like LE SSERAFIM, NMIXX, and maybe i-dle are known for being experimental, and they’re good at it. But ILLIT’s new EP (sorry I used them twice already, I promise I’m not hating) doesn’t really feel like old ILLIT, and “GRWM” is the only song that kind of suits their concept. I feel like groups should stick to sounds that fit them instead of constantly chasing trendy sounds.

Why do people hate kiss of life so much

Obviously, I’m aware that what they did on the livestream was stupid, and I understand why people might have been hurt or upset. But the girls apologized four times:

  1. From their company, S2 Entertainment, shortly after the livestream was deleted.
  2. Julie apologized again during a livestream directly addressing Black and Latino communities.
  3. A handwritten apology from the members themselves was posted on Instagram.
  4. S2 Entertainment issued another statement addressing harassment and threats toward the group.

They apologized four times, and people still hate them. Some people keep saying, “Oh, they only apologized after getting hate,” but that’s not necessarily true. And even if they did, they still apologized, but instead of people accepting it, many don’t.

Also, there are dozens of idols who have been accused of racism or cultural appropriation, but they were never “canceled.” For example, G-DRAGON, BLACKPINK members like Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé (I think), and members of BTS like Suga, RM, and Jungkook (I think) have all faced backlash for similar issues. They got hate, but it didn’t seriously damage their long-term reputation or popularity, and they still have huge fanbases.

I’m not saying we should pretend what anyone did was right. But if people are going to “cancel” KISS OF LIFE, then shouldn’t the same standard apply to BTS, BLACKPINK, G-DRAGON, and others too?

It feels like the girls deserve a second chance. It doesn’t seem fair that a group with such good music and talented members gets heavily criticized and barely forgiven, while others are treated differently for similar situations. (Also i'm African American so i can speak on this)

i have to things to talk about

  1. Cortis is overrated/overhyped

Know when I say this I don’t really think CORTIS is bad but most of there songs don’t live up to the hype like people Say.basically I never really LISTEAN to CORTIS I only heard fashion and go and I thought they were good so my Freind told me I should Stan them and they were talking about how good they where so I was exited you know and plus every single time I see someone talk about there music they always say it’s so good and they are the best 5th gen boy group. So I listean to them and I don’t really get the hype. Joy ride was alright but it’s not like a song that I would add to my play list and I’m not even trying to be mean but what you want is one of the worst kpop songs Ive ever heard
And lullaby is also alright. Now I heard red red and I really liked it I actually added it to my playlist. and I kinda like the rest of there songs on there ep but it wasn’t nothing mind blowing. So once again I don’t think there bad cause I think they have a few good songs but I don’t think they live up to the hype. I just wanted to know if people felt the same and please don’t hate me for this I really like the members personality but not really there music.

  1. Do you guys think babymonster or illit deserves the 5thgen title

I’ve been seeing this discussion forever now, and I’ve honestly been really curious about which group deserves the title. Personally, I feel like it’s not really fair to give either one the title because, when it comes to streams, ILLIT only has more because of “Magnetic,” which was a huge hit and is almost at 1 billion streams today. But all of their other songs haven’t even passed 200 million streams.

Unlike BABYMONSTER, they have 5 songs over 200 million streams, but those are the only songs they have that passed 100 million. All of their other songs are under 100 million streams. So ILLIT has 7 songs over 100 million streams, while BABYMONSTER has 5.

Now when it comes to talent, I feel like BABYMONSTER is more talented than ILLIT in rap, which I don’t even think the ILLIT members really focus on, but I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. Vocals, I would also say BABYMONSTER, and dance I would say is tied. Stage presence is also BABYMONSTER in my opinion.

But when it comes to brand deals, it’s definitely ILLIT. I also think ILLIT is way trendier than BABYMONSTER because:

  1. “Magnetic” went viral
  2. Their social media posts do really well
  3. Their cute girl style is probably another reason why they have so many brand deals since that concept is really popular in Korea

And when it comes to their songs, I feel like they’re both so good that it’s not really about which group is better, but which concept you prefer. Some people may like ILLIT’s cute girl style more than BABYMONSTER’s hip-hop style, while others may prefer BABYMONSTER’s hip-hop style more than ILLIT’s cute girl style.

But what do you guys think? And please don’t be biased about it.

(Also if you saw these post somewhere ealse those where me but the mod removed them for breaking there rules)
