hardly anyone talking about skhynix divorce drama, think I should also mention it here

this is part of the reason of mass sell off of SK Hynix recently, and seems its causd selloff of MU last Friday due to ripple effect. The fundamental layer of MU remains unchanged.

news link: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-06-25/sk-hynix-billionaire-s-record-divorce-case-resumes-after-ruling

I will also post an AI brief summary here :

> The "SK Hynix divorce" actually refers to the high-profile divorce of Chey Tae-won, the chairman of SK Group, which controls SK Hynix. The case drew global attention because of its potential impact on control of one of the world's largest AI memory chip makers.

Brief summary:

  • Chey Tae-won married Roh So-young in 1988.
  • In 2015, Chey publicly admitted he had fathered a child with another woman and sought a divorce, leading to years of litigation.
  • In 2024, the Seoul High Court ordered Chey to pay 1.38 trillion won (about US$1 billion) in property division plus 2 billion won in alimony—the largest divorce settlement in South Korean history. The court ruled that Roh had contributed to the growth of SK Group during their marriage.
  • Because most of Chey's wealth is tied to his stake in SK Group's holding company, investors worried he might need to sell shares or borrow heavily, raising concerns about the stability of SK Group's control over SK Hynix.
  • In 2025, the Supreme Court of Korea partially overturned the property division ruling, saying the lower court had relied on problematic reasoning about funds linked to Roh's father's political legacy. The alimony was upheld, but the property division was sent back to the High Court for reconsideration.
  • As of June 2026, the High Court has resumed hearings, and the final amount Chey will ultimately have to pay has not yet been determined.

In short, the case is significant not only because it could become one of the world's most expensive divorces, but also because it may affect the ownership structure of SK Group, the parent company of SK Hynix.

Is there a layoff in CIBC toronto headquarter now ?

see post from here https://www.reddit.com/r/CIBC/comments/1ugwtl1/cibc_layoffs/ , seems crazy.

>Today’s layoffs at CIBC were brutal.

>Hundreds of FTEs had their jobs eliminated. They were offered redeployment opportunities, but from what I’ve seen and heard, very few have landed another role.

>Walking through CIBC Square today felt terrible. It was almost silent. Digital, Personal Banking, and Business Banking were hit hard. It honestly felt like walking through a building after an evacuation.

Grill me: if you just buy *eqt but miss the semi wave, it's a miss of decades

disclaimer: Its totally written by me without any AI proof-writing/thinking, so maybe there are some typos but I can guarantee that it's from a real human rather than AI--slop.

you just buy *eqt(* means wildcard matcher, it can be either xeqt / veqt / zeqt / feqt ), didn't buy NVDA in 2023 after chatgpt and and didn't buy memory stock in 2026 after claude code and agent mode.

it's a miss of decades.

It's totally fine to not buy tsla, spcx, asts, rklb etc. But is it really right to buy *eqt and miss the AI wave completely ?

You use AI everyday but you think you shouldn't buy any AI related stocks ?

Do you really want to justbuy *eqt but not use some(10%-30%) satellite positions to buy AI stocks ?

Are you really playing safe or being too cautious to not do more research ? you likely have missed the opportunity to gain generational wealth.

The Mu stock has been up 16.97% in the past month, and will only go higher 2mrw.

I don't care whether my post being downvoted again like my past comments. I just want to make it clear :

if you alerady have 5M+ then it's totally fine to put money in *EQT, it's safe.

if you're senior enough, it's also fine to avoid AI as it's volatile.

But, if you don't have over 5M+ cash, and you're still young enough to witness your job being replaced by AI, then you should buy AI stocks, especially memory. I mainly hold MU so I can def say MU is still a good stock to buy for now.

what happens after borealis is merged into RBC now

so unlike layer 6 that's still an independent division of TD, borealis has been merged into RBC finally after acquisition years ago, I'm mainly curious what has changed to it ?

  1. Is salary bands changed ? is title changed ? I see some people with only 1-year or coop exp having a staff engineer title.

  2. I see many people moving from RBC to Borealis recently based on Linkedin, what does it mean ?

Will you rebalance your portfolio when your individual stock grows too fast ?

I obey the rule of core-satellite strategy and put 60% in vfv and others in individual stocks, however recently some of them grow too fast(AI memory& space both with 200%+ return) and now my VFV only accounts for 30%...some are in registered accounts while others are in non-registered accounts.

I'm seriously considering whether I should sell part of them, take the profit, rebalance portfolio to ensure vfv has at least 60% in whole portfolio.
