Ancient TV earworms

I've noticed that I randomly have a few TV sounds (not theme songs) show up in my head repeatedly.

Today it's some background sounds from Happy Days. I think it's from the start of the show while the credits are running. There's background singers going "ooooo waaaaaahh". Or "la la la la".

I haven't even looked at that show in forever. Imo it doesn't hold up well.

Sometimes the sounds are from The Brady Bunch... I think as one of the kids is coming home from school and the credits are playing and there's some instrumental sounds (that I can't recall at will -- but it shows up randomly. )

I swear, even as a kid I thought TV was kinda brainwashing me. Didn't realize it's wash rinse repeat for many decades! 🤣

Sleep Center Issues?

Anyone else having problems with the Sleep Disorder Center at Providence??

Apparently they shut down suddenly in early May and ghosted the whole community. Someone said they "might" re-open in early July. But nope.

They hired a new director to sort things out. I talked to her about 5 or 6 weeks ago. She was apologetic and trying to fix things --- now she's disappeared. Her phone and email no longer work.

It's crazy. Medicare forced me to do a sleep study even though I already know I have sleep apnea and been using CPAP for about 30 years. I did the study and then they all fled town or something. And I really don't want to go through another sleep study.

I'm really outraged by it all. (Yes, another Humboldt healthcare outrage. )

Are other people having this issue? Is there something more we can do??

Meltdown rambling

My small space is too cluttered. I try to fix it. I set a timer, just work on it for 30 minutes. After about 10 minutes I'm in anxiety meltdown bordering on crying.

The music program I was listening to began to irritate me. The DJ speaks in a low tone that's almost a whisper and it makes me want to shake him.

The thoughts become a continuous rant.

A troubled friend spends money she doesn't have to buy me things I don't want. More clutter.

I don't like cell phones and social media.

I just keep thinking.... like arguing in my head.

One part gives advice and the other part argues about it.

Will it always be a choice between submission and arguing???

I just want to have a clean and ordered space. But the whole world is messy and disordered. And inside my mind is chaotic. I try to make lists and do small things.

I do lots of small things.

Am I trying to get control? Am I too controlling?? Isn't that the correct response to chaos? Yes No back and forth.

I am doing one load of laundry. I will go to singing class tonight.

It doesn't seem like enough. I dream of mutual aid.

Is Entertainment Work special?

Is working in the entertainment industry a privilege?

I mean, if someone makes a movie and goes on talk shows to promote it, would you say they are being celebrated and treated as important? Or would you say they are just working at their job?

I think going on a talk show and having to be charming and funny and make it seem natural would be horrible (but I'm an introvert. )

When I hear what goes into movie making --- it seems like directing a movie is really really hard work. Why do some people seem to act like it's a privilege -- like "they get to direct a movie". But that's like saying someone "gets to" work really hard at something. You don't know how it will be received, so there's risk. And being in a spotlight could draw all kinds of negative attention.

I'm thinking about it because sometimes a person working in entertainment business is accused of inappropriate behavior and they are still "allowed to" work in their field. But how is it different than any other business-- where you're hired because people with money need someone to do work? Like, directing a feature film or competing in professional sports, is something that few people have the ability to do, so it's a very limited hiring pool.

Thoughts?

The Cost of “Saving Them All”

The illusion of 'no-kill' is a strong one, since so many dog zealots want to believe it.

It's also consistent with the delusional nature of these people.

It's also a big opportunity to make money off of them.

58 looking for chat distraction

Have you ever decided it's too windy to go outside?

Yeah, I've been beaten by pollen and wind today. I'm trying to tackle my indoor to-do list instead.

On my own and struggling, but always trying to make the best of everything, usually with humor and goals. If anyone is looking to chat about random whatever... and maybe encourage each other to keep on keeping on, DM me.

What are you reading, watching, listening to or working on? 🌈☮️
