one of my players found a way to utilize his character the way he built it, should i completely ruin his experience?

my player took specific steps to build his character around grappling from a distance and has been playing really well by moving my precious bad guys around on spike growth. i obviously don’t want to change the way i make combats to make sure my other players are having enough chances to let off their cool abilities, im thinking about either removing his characters hands so he can’t grapple anything ever again or having a bad guy use the wish spell to completely remove all AOE effects from the game so my player who build his character to do this will never be able to again. does this sound fair? im also thinking about having everyone BUT him use pathfinder rules, because i hate him.

hey guys! sorry if this isn’t a topic to discuss here, but i’ve been playing another game that has an anime adaptation

I’ve been a long time Steins;Gate fan and i played the first VN, but lately i got super hooked on Persona5R. I can’t help but to fantasize heavily on how amazing a Steins;Gate VN made with this style of gameplay would be. Maybe not the turn based combat, but if you could play as Okabe and run around Akihabara and develop tiers of relationships with Okabes friends and have social stat developments, monetary/investigation/experiment objectives with the Future Gadgets Laboratory. it’d need to be adapted, with some rewrites for sure, but it can also expand on characters. i think it works super well due to the time sensitivity too, and the time travel would be a fun feature. say you don’t have the required social stat to progress a certain point, Okabe goes back in time, trains those skills, and really puts it into more immersive perspective on how many times exactly Okabe had to go back in time. The VN and Anime for Steins;Gate eludes to it, but it’s not shown, we fill in the blanks. I think it would be amazing, i know it’ll never happen but it’s been fun to speculate.

confused about religion and dog (anagram for god?) help

when god gives children cancer it’s “gods plan” and “i’ll pray for your child” but when a pitbull mauls a child (also gods plan) suddenly it’s horrible and the dog needs to be murdered (put down) for his “crimes” (human law shouldn’t apply to animals that cannot understand them to begin with) when the pitbull was only doing what god empowered him and designed him explicitly for (mauling children)

how do you guys feel about the weapons shrinking and growing?

i can’t unsee it, and i hate it, i never use spears or hammers because they too visibly shrink and grow when sheathing and unsheathing them.

i’m always hard as a DM

my players have started cumming on creatures to do damage to them, i pretend to be uncomfortable by it but its just so hot when they describe how they cover my dmnpc’s with their spunk (it’s roleplay don’t break my immersion) i’ve decided to replace combat encounters with sexual ones. but i’m actually so uncomfortable haha it’s not me it’s my players

i think i remember that these were given to military personnel, they don’t look like they’re worth too much to me, just collectors items, any insight?

any other DM’s have problems with players failing to get into the Roleplaying spirit?

i’ve had this problem as a DM, i was prepping to run curse of strahd and to set the spooky vampire mood i broke into my players homes and bit their necks, but they were kind of upset about it, i told them that it wasn’t me it was strahd and if they’re going to break my immersion they had to pick a new table to play at. i was looking forwards for this to be a roleplay heavy table but i guess not

looking for a serial anime :D

i’ve seen a good number of em, i’m not a huge fan of episodic anime but i liked violet evergarden, cowboy bebop and samurai champloo, but anime’s ive loved have been serials with heavy hitting overarching plots that progress the story in every episode, you know what im talking about, the death notes, the attack on titans, the FMAB’s. my favorite anime’s other than attack on titan would be Steins;Gate, Nana, The Apothecary Diaries, Dororo, and HunterXHunter

i guess im looking for something still hard hitting but, im not so much into follow the naruto shonen stuff like demon slayer and JJK. let me know if you need more details or have anything in mind

this flavor is pretty good, might be my second favorite flavor monster, but why is its packaging so unappealing?

what on earth made them think a chartreuse can that doesn’t even tell you that it’s melon flavored would be a good idea? this can looks like it would be battery acid or zesty IPA flavored, not melon. lol.

The player who hosts DnD sessions wants to have the world cup on in the background, muted, but I (the dm) don’t want this

edit: others have said that I am the one that’s being a dick, so i’m willing to give it a shot if it truly won’t be an issue, but if it is, i’ll end the session early and propose we do something else, or i’ll go home and postpone d&d until the games that interfere with our d&d schedule are over, it is the hosts place and i can only ask for things at their mercy, and i’ll reserve my right to simply not run the game if it’s a detriment. we only play on Mondays from 4-8, that is just how the cards fell, people have work and school and other things going on.

Convo went something like this:

“can that not happen, can you watch it later?”
“it’s happening.”
“is there not a way to watch it later?”
“it’s a live sporting event and i want to watch it as it happens, you don’t have to pay attention to it”
“it’s not about weather or not I see it, i want everyone to be present for dnd”
“i get that but it’s not going to be a distraction, and the game will be on in the background”
“okay i’ll trust you with that but if it’s a distraction i’ll ask for it to be turned off”
“that’s not up to you”

i’d be more willing to see if it goes well if they weren’t such a dick about it, i kind of want to cancel next session due to it, im pretty pissed off, though i haven’t made that known. sure, it’s not up to me weather their tv is on or not, but it is up to me how the contents of my brain that i spent time and effort producing for them gets engaged with. but it’s another players last day playing for a month due to them needing to finish their last college class, i wanted it to be a good one before that break. should i grin and bear it? am i overreacting? what would you guys do here?

my roommate is a slob thats why i don’t host, i could ask my other players, they just have closed minded roommates but their place is clean and they live together. other players have called out of sessions before due to having other priorities (usually school or work related though, not football) so it wouldn’t be too much different if player in question prioritized staying home to watch the game instead of playing d&d, not a big deal.

Hello my friends! I have a player using the UA oathbreaker subclass!

I encouraged them to do this because there’s few changes and it gives them more opportunity to use their channel divinity in a thematically satisfying way. However, summoning 2 undead with a 1/4 challenge rating sucks fairly quickly, would it be bad if i allowed them to summon undead of my choosing that have higher crs? I’ve thought about wording it like “you can summon a number of undead equal to your charisma modifier (rounded up), the type of undead can be chosen from this list and their added combat rating cannot exceed past your proficiency bonus” or somethin, i’d just have to pick out different types of undead so that they can’t summon mummy’s at level 5 right?
