Older asexuals

I often read the ace subs, and I noticed that they are mostly frequented by people in their twenties and thirties and even teenagers. So
I asked myself « what about the older aces? » The few articles I read about asexuality seem to show it like a generational thing (another way to rise up young people against older ones).

Are there any 40, 50,60 years old ace people and beyond here ? Do you know some? If so, I’d like to hear their stories and having other points of view. I’m 27 myself, which is not old and I only found out about asexuality when I was 25 or 26, thanks to the internet.

As far as I’m concerned, I have a close friend who is the dad I wish I had (I had a lousy genitor growing up, I don’t speak to him anymore). He’s a 65 yrs old white man. He recently told me that he would have prefered to stay virgin and have no trouble. That sex is not a big deal, it’s a thing that not really interested him and that he would have liked to never marry or even date. I thought this was one of the coolest things he ever said. It’s so refreshing and amazing. He also told me earlier that he doesn’t like sex scenes in movies. It’s great to feel so understood, he’s one of the only people around me who knows I’m ace (even though I don’t say that word)

Anyway, I’d like to hear stories and experiences of older ace people. For me it’s not a trend but something which always existed but no one talked about until recently.

What’s your favourite console in terms of design ?

I’m not talking about the graphics of the games, but the object itself. So, what’s your favourite console design ? Mine is the european Super Nintendo: the dog bone controller with colored buttons, the cartridges and its shape in general. Such a simple but great design.
I also like the design of the NES, like a VCR with this minimalistic rectangular game controller. The Megadrive/Genesis and PS1 look cool too.

Edit: I forgot to mention the OG GameBoy and Gameboy Color

Does anyone think that Train Round The Bend sounds like Bowie ?

I was listening to Train Round The Bend (Loaded,1970) today and I just thought that this song sounds a lot like Bowie. Not the vocals, because Lou’s voice is recognizable but the music, the sound of the guitars, the bass. It sounds very early Velvet of course, but it also reminds of Bowie’s songs from his European Trilogy, especially Heroes and Lodger, or even Scary Monsters.

I know David Bowie was a big VU and Lou Reed fan, so maybe he could have been inspired by them while working on these albuns (even if the main influences here are mostly german rock like Neu!)

Anyway, does anyone think the same ?

An essay in french I wrote about The Smiths

Hi, if anyone here reads French I wrote about The Smiths. Maybe you can use a web translator but I’m not sure. I made the drawing which illustrates the article too.

Ace cartoons

A selection of ace-related drawings I made.
The first one says: “Do you think asexuals exist? The second one is about living in an over-sexualized world when you’re ace, and more precisely sex-repulsed.

Why Huey Lewis was chosen for the official song of the first film ?

I’ve seen the Back to the Future trilogy countless times. Recently I just thought about the song The Power of Love and I was wondering why Huey Lewis performed the song and not another singer or band ? Marty is supposed to be a 17 year old rock fan.
But honestly Huey Lewis and the News already sounded like « dad rock » in 1985. He sounds like a middle aged man trying to be cool. Did 80´s teenagers and people in their twenties actually listened to him ? The fact that Marty liked Van Halen (a musician that Bill & Ted, other teen time-travelers like too) and even Chuck Berry makes sense, but Huey Lewis ?

At least John Hugues using Simple Minds and Psychedelic Furs songs for his teen movies seems more realistic.

Anyway, I love this trilogy, it’s my favourite but I’m wondering why they chose Huey Lewis for the theme song. What do you think ?
