Ok, so I bought the Bose Quitecomfort 2 on a whim after misplacing my Beats Fit Pro, reading some good reviews and also I am aware of the great reputation Bose has for sound quality and noise cancellation. Here are my good and honestly terrible review points from using it for almost 2 years now.

The good & great:

  1. Absolutely amazing fit, especially with the wing tips. I have weird ears, so most earphones don't stay in, but this did, thanks to the varying tips and the varying wings you get in the box. They are light enough that they don't sag during usage or exercise.

  2. Battery lasts close to what is promised, 3-4 hours with ANC and quiet mode on, while playing music and watching videos on the highest possible quality. The case also lasts me 4-5 charges. (I will discuss a downside later on)

  3. The touch gestures are decent, but since the earphone shell is rather large, it's not always the best. 7/10 for the gestures.

  4. The sound quality and ANC are at par and sometimes feel better than the Beats. The app has enough options to tweak these with granular control too, so you get what you want. The audio by default had very clear lows and mids, so I never missed anything from a song, but it did sound too base heavy sometimes specially with some songs. I'd say close to the base of the beats, maybe slightly less. (I like base so I'm biased here)

  5. They are very sturdy; I dropped them a couple of times, and I never saw any damage.

The Negatives: (unfortunately, the good points ended here)

  1. The case is wide and thick, my pockets always felt full, and I could never put it into the little pocket in my jeans, sucked.

  2. The battery life depreciates fast; don't expect a reliable battery after a year of use. (I have good charging habits)

  3. Unreliable connectivity - they would often disconnect from two different mac computers (one macbook pro and one mac mini) and sometimes did that on my phone (samsung s24u), to the point where I had to reset them often to get them to reconnect.

  4. Audio disturbances and de-syncing during songs. They would sometimes tweak out and start playing separately delayed audio on both ends, and then suddenly fix themselves up. This never happened to me before with other audio devices.

  5. The app on Android kinda sucks. (They don't have a mac app, so can't say). It would often log me out after 2-3 sessions, but would still be active in my notifications whenever I connected my device. The app also has an average UX (I'm a UX designer by profession), which bugged me sometimes. Random banners and pop-ups even when I dismissed stuff once.

  6. No wireless charging, but I am used to not using wireless chargers, so that didn't hurt.

  7. The case and earphones have a slightly cheap feel to them, no soft corners or materials, which makes it feel like a cheaper device always. (beats had silicone-like material wrapped around it for comfort)

  8. 2 days ago, one of the earbuds stopped working, even though the case suggests it is charging (this could be water damage from sweat or just issues with the driver, who knows).

  9. It often would switch to different ANC modes and then come back to the one I set up after a few seconds, very weird. I'm telling you they tweak quite often.

I'd say look at other brands for your truly wireless needs. Bose has the sound quality department locked in, but the daily issues make it a no-go for me.

Any suggestiong for truly wireless (winged tip) earphones from a trustworthy brand for my next purchase?
