Hii, I am from Kerala. I have not watched much Telugu movies apart from the mainstream ones Bahubali, Eega, and an Aishwarya Lakshmi movie called *Ammu* and Kajal Agarwal's *Awe*. I wanted to ask if there was a parallel cinema movement in Telangana and what's the current status of it?
I understand that the majority of the fan following for Telugu movies are formed by the caste of the lead actor. How did that come about? Are there any movies which critiques the caste system from Telugu industry?
Coming to the treatment of women, every industry is flawed. But in Telugu movies, I have seen the fetishes taken to a whole another level, especially in Balayya movies. Do fellow redditors foresee a change in the treatment of women in the coming future?
Another thing I want to know is how did Balayya achieve such a level of stardom? I know he is from an influential family, but surely he would have given some good movies? Also, I have read in many subs that people even in Telangana consider him a joke, so how does he have such a large following still? When people ask me, who is my favourite Telugu actor, I usually go with Nani.
Finally, and most importantly, I want to watch some Telugu movies which doesn't follow the commercial template so that I can expand my knowledge about the Telugu film culture.
P.S : I am sorry if I came off as arrogant. I just want to understand the culture and industry more.

For me, it's Uppal. Dust filled hell.
Just finished reading Why Does He Do That by Lundy Bancroft today. Made me realise what kind of a partner i shouldnt be, and what kind of men were around me. This book prompts me to be a better man, and its a disgrace that a book was needed to open my eyes. Still, the book made me understand how abuse is not a response to anything in particular, but rather a technique to keep control over your partner.
When I was young, I would see ants all over the sugar jar if it wasn't closed tightly. Since we used to put sugar in tea, I would complain to my mother that the tea had ants, to which my mother would say that ants are good for my eyes. Probably another myth.
So, returning to the question, why are ants so crazy for sugar?
Is it some evolutionary trait that the body has developed to protect or nurture the foetus?
Can someone tell me the parts of Kashmir which is actually controlled by India, Pakistan and China? The maps of each of these countries are disputed when it comes to this region. Also, why is this region highly sought after by each nation? Can someone also help me with a political map of Kashmir for better understanding
I am not a native of Hyderabad. The place where I am from, even in peak summer, sun would set at 6.30 to 6:45 pm. Has it been like this forever during Hyderabad summers?
I am interested in how certain films are elevated and certain others bashed through social media discussions. I want to understand the reasons behind a kind of group psychology that forms through letterboxd, reddit and youtube. Also of interest is that how certain films get picked out of obscurity.
I am in preparation of my PhD proposal and this will help me a lot.
Just like how we build our body, can we train our intelligence? Is there a limit to intelligence? Is it related to the size of our brain or something else?
It started out as a stroll inside IKEA to escape the scorching sun. Now, I am trapped in here. Help
Chettan here. I just wanted to know how is school for you guys. While I was studying, religion didnt percolate our friendships or our discussions. i remember questions like nee ambalamkaranano atho pallikaranano, borne just out of curiosity and not out of any kind of judgement. Is it still the case or has it changed.
Our teenage was filled with homophobia, misogyny and sexist jokes. Has that changed for the better? Do you see your friends getting influenced by Andrew Tate and manosphere?
Just wanted to know how much school life has changed.
Do movies have the power to shape public opinion to such a large extent that it would actually incite changes in society or is it the other way around? If they can, are there any examples of it?
I have always been fascinated by this question. Earlier I used to hear that video games made kids more violent, even though that argument doesn't hold any water, I asked myself what led to the rise in production of video games with graphic violence.
As monsoon is approaching, soon our news channel would be filled with how Mullaperiyar would break down into rubbles and Kerala would die.
I read in Wikipedia that it was constructed to feed the Vaiga river. But my question is, if Periyar was diverted after the construction of the dam, did it mean that a lot of land situated in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam didn't exist back then? Is that why we have a lot of swamp lands now? Did anyone make a map of how Kerala would have looked if Mullaperiyar was never constructed?
