GJALLARHORN and Monitor Audio Silver 100 7gs

Anyone use the G-horn with MA Silver 100 7gs? The speakers have 87.5 db sensitivity. Will the G-horn drive them?

More Mimir imput questions

I've read that inputting through the Mimir's USB-C port converts the signal using Schiit's internal clock. Supposedly this results in a cleaner sound, especially if the clock on the source is less than ideal. So, since my streamer (a Wiim Pro,) lacks USB-C output, can I simply use an optical or coax to USB-C cable in order to utilize the Mimir's USB-C input?

Saga 2 and a DAC vs Mimir with Forkbeard

Time to hear your opinions. I'm torn between two options:

  1. Saga 2 plus a DAC (either a Mimir or FiiO K13 R2r or

  2. Mimir plus Forkbeard to function as both a DAC and pre-amp.

The rest of my system will be a Fosi ZA3 powering Monitor Audio Silver 100 7Gs. I'll use a Wiim Pro or a CD player as my music sources.

Your thoughts?

Audiolab and Fosi

I don't think its my imagination, but adding a ZA3 and using my Audiolab 6000A as a pre-amp provides a nicer overall sound than using the 6000A alone as an integrated amp. Seems like better separation and just an oompf to the sound that the Audiolab alone doesn't provide.

FYI- I'm feeding Monitor Audio 100 7G speakers. Listening volumes are moderate, 65-75 db.

Why did my shifters unpair from my rear derailleur?

At the end of today's ride, my SRAM FORCE AXS shifters stopped communicating with my rear derailleurs. I followed SRAM's instructions and was able to re-pair them. My question is, what would make them unpair? I have 3000 miles on the groupset. It's been absolutely flawless until today. My first thought was that the shifter batteries needed replacement. I still use the original batteries which are now 2.5 years old. But both my Garmin head unit and the SRAM app say the batteries are fully charged.

Any thoughts?

First impressions

I’m in the midst of a three week road trip. Our CX-5 came due for an oil change so I stopped in at Morrie’s Mazda in Mpls for service. We bought our first Mazda (a GLC,) from them in 1982. Great service, by the way.
So while waiting I had time to look at the 2026 Mazdas. I hate to say that overall, I was disappointed.

Car reviewers who faulted the CX-50 and 5 for cheapened interiors were right. Way too many plastic surfaces and the steering wheel just felt odd. The middle console design, dividing as it does is just stupid. Opening one of the two halves really doesn’t afford access to the storage area. Why do you have to open to two doors when one would suffice.

I really hope to buy another Mazda someday. As my CX-5 only has 111,000 miles on the odometer, there’s time for Mazda to make some changes before I need a new car.
