Fiction or Nonfiction?

I saw a thread with some ISTPs discussing how they don’t really read fiction and It got me thinking. I tend to read a lot of informational non-fiction, but very little narrative non-fiction. I read more fiction than non-fiction by far and typically prefer historical, thriller, or realistic fiction.

ENTP female ENFP male

I’m an ENTP female and I’m pretty sure a guy I’m into is an ENFP. I don’t know a ton about him, but we sort of had a love at first sight thing and I’m curious how you express interest or see my situation. I flirt with a lot of people for fun and we’re both seemingly pretty outgoing, but we met awhile ago and I can’t really get him off my mind. I didn’t really do anything afterwards and saw him a couple times where it seemed like he expected me to talk to him. I’m pretty sure he’s aware of me and we’re in the same circles. It’s weird because I’m usually relatively outgoing, but never initiated anything afterwards which is out of character for me. I think we got along pretty well in the first place. For the last little while, I get the impression that we’re sort of preforming in each other’s peripheries to see if anything happens, but I could be reading too much into it. He’s relatively expressive in general from what I’ve seen. Is there anything else you’d want to know? What should I pay attention to on his end?

Thoughts about ISTJs

As an ENTP, I find ISTJs really draining. It’s funny reading their subreddit because half of everything they say is something along the lines of “well I don’t really like to go by labels or over simplify anything, but I guess my opinion is that I don’t really mind either way.” You didn’t need to preface it. I wouldn’t have ever assumed it was that deep or all-encompassing. Just cut to your milk-toast take please.

ENTP w/ an ISTJ dad 😬

I’m an ENTP and my dad is an ISTJ and I can’t really talk to him normally without him thinking I’m arguing or attacking my character which is squeaky clean btw. He also keeps his emotions bottled and goes crazy when I don’t baby him. Any time I tell him not do anything, he turns it around on me. I’m very normal and civilized. He always (😈) used the world always to make assertions about me. And I would almost be okay with him being the DARVO master it’s just that he’s so sensitive too. I actually think he’s pretty bad at talking in general. He tells a good joke about twice a year and can’t really tell stories. I’m usually considered pretty funny but I don’t really ever make him laugh or smile. Most of our conversations are just both of us pretending not to be bored and annoyed to varying degrees. He’s actually a really good person in the sense that he follows rules well and treats people well, but I don’t know how to interact with him. Everything is a personal attack, everything is intentional.

Horrifyingly, he is really into politics. So am I, but I like to consider different sides and get the best understanding of an issue I can. I normally like to discuss my opinions but he has a lot of trouble discussing a topic with someone he disagrees with. And he mansplains like no other. I can’t tell him a joke because he’ll take it literally and try to explain it to me. I think you’ll probably understand why I hate his interest in politics so annoying if you’re familiar with breaking points which he watches religiously.

I want to get along with him but it just feels like he’s bad at everything and I’m good at everything. Thoughts? Advice? Explanation?

I don’t really know anyone quite like me. I am told pretty often by acquaintances and close friends alike that they haven’t met anyone like me. It’s not that I don’t fit in, but more that I just can’t seem to find anyone like me. Although I’m female, I have seen myself in more men than women. I can find a couple of my traits in other people, but I have not met anyone who is likeminded socially and internally. I’ve watched some videos of Steven Bonnell (Destiny) talking about himself and he is by far the most similar to me that I have seen. If you want an idea of my personality, Destiny is your best frame of reference. Thanks if you’ve made it this far and let me know if any of you feel the same and how so.
