When the grift no longer sticks

Negative Grifting about Nintendo has died off hard at the moment as most the arguments if feel have aged like milk, so here is a quick review as to why with some quick explanations i would give:

"Switch 2 is too expensive!"- This argument no longer works as Switch 2 is the cheapest console on the market.

"$80 MKW is bad!"- Base Games like GTA 6 are priced the same so it is no longer a Nintendo only issue (without even considering DLC/MTX and other practices that already existed).

"GKC are the worst thing ever!" - Nintendo is the only system that has games playable off a cart and now Sony is doing away with physical entirely so the argument has shifted.

"Switch 2 has no games!" - Nintendo has more exclusives in one year than other systems have had in 6 years, and 3rd party support is bigger than it's ever been.

"Switch 2 games are MID!" - Nintendo has a variety of games available with varying reviews most scoring in the high level 70's to 90's, with zero games with major bugs.

"No one wants 3rd party games on Switch 2"- Many devs such as Capcom, Bethesda, Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, EA ect. are supporting the console at a level not seen since the gamecube with optimized ports and even day and date releases, with support still coming showing they must be doing well enough.

"Switch 2 is underpowered, Its just a Switch Pro!"- Switch 2 ports have proven to run as well as or better than alternatives such as handheld PCs or budget consoles such as the Series S, in a way Switch 1 could not do.

"Upgrade packs are a scam, Nintendo are lazy padding these out and not making Switch 2 games instead!"- Upgrade packs have not replaced full games as many franchises are getting new entries with very few games getting upgraded, some Switch games have had free updates and variable upgrade pricing between $5-$20, Most improving the games with new DLC, plus all upgrades have been getting new physical editions on the cart future proofing the games and giving them a second wind.

"Nintendo should go third party and put every game on other systems!"- Now Xbox and Playstation have reverted back to making games more exclusive as it made their systems lose value.

"Switch 2 $50 price increase was GREED" - All the competiton raised prices to a level higher than this.

"Nintendo will sell you broken consoles with drift and brick the system!" - No major hardware issues have been found on Switch 2 with no rampant cases of banning consoles (Which all consoles can do).

"You should Pirate all the Switch 2 games!"- No major exploits to pirate games have been discovered for the system yet.

"No one wants a Switch 2, Just buy a steam deck"- lol lmao even.

Add any other arguments that have evaporated to the comments!

Switch 2 Grifting at an all time low?

Does anyone else feel that the current vibe about Nintendo from grifters and haters as at its lowest since launch at the moment?

Maybe people in general are distracted other things going on like Sony/Microsoft/Valve/GTA, the odd grifter makes a video saying palworld owns pokemon or tries to say star fox is bad or something but everything they say falls flat and isn't really shared about the same way Switch 2 hate was from launch period to early this year.

I don't think people can keep up the ragebait when literally every other company to compare to Nintendo is doing worse on the issues people have been critical of Switch 2 for.

My Biggest Issue with Nintendo in 2026

The single worst thing i have with Nintendo at the moment is something that is a wider industry problem and Nintendo have done in the past but appears more frequent or egregious now.

That issue is new paid DLC for games too soon after launch, in my opinion if its coming within the first 6 months after launch of a game it is too soon and just selling cut content back to you. Preferably DLC should come closer to or beyond 12 Months but 6 is acceptable minimum to me.

Examples recently of course are DK Bananza Emerald rush 2 months after the game came out and Pokemon Legends ZA Mega Dimension also 2 months after launch. We have also got Pokopia DLC but this is at least on the cusp of 6 months after launch with late august.

We have had this a few times in the past also (BOTW, Xenoblade 2+3, Fire Emblem TH and engage,, Smash 4 and Ultimate).

I would prefer if the Nintendo IP/published games did not shift and be DLC heavy like others in the industry and they should reign it back to spreading out DLC to being something later, It's a small issue to solve and most Nintendo games aren't doing it fortunately but I'd rather not have a few games/franchises soured by it.

UK game store back in 1992

Had this interesting video pop up ,You can see games like sonic on game gear for £30 which would be £68 in todays money (£1 more than Digital MKW), and Super Mario Bros 2 and 3 on NES were £40 each which is equivalent to £90 now. Games were pricey back then, interesting to look back on.

RIP Companion Cube

As you’ve probably noticed, the Steam Machine Companion Cube was eviscerated from our website, YouTube, and other social media platforms last week.

The blunt version is that we made the Companion Cube without a license from Valve. Everyone who purchased a Companion Cube will have their refund issued by end-of-day. Everything else beyond this is just detail. If you want the full story, keep reading.

On November 12th 2025, the day the Steam Machine was announced, we put up a concept render and sign-up page to see if anyone would be interested in a Companion Cube enclosure. It went moderately viral, with over fifteen thousand people signing up to be notified in the first day. In the months that followed, we built the idea into something real without ever asking Valve if we could.

We’re going to regret that decision for a very long time.

Over the next seven months, we poured our souls into this project. More than a thousand hours went into engineering from our industrial design team. Forty-four sets of injection molding tools were developed, one for each of the cube's sub-components. The entire product was redesigned from scratch more than once, just to get the way it cradles the console exactly right. We literally rented out a university campus to film the launch video. By the end, we were losing money on every $99 Poverty Cube sold, but it didn’t matter. This had turned into a passion project for the entire organization.

Unfortunately, being proud of the thing we made did not give us the right to make it.

We launched around 3am on Monday, June 22nd. Overnight, it became the second-fastest selling product in our 15-year history, behind only the Switch 2 Killswitch.

Shortly after, Valve’s legal team reached out. They stated that the Companion Cube is Valve intellectual property, for which dbrand does not have a license. They requested we take down the product and launch film immediately. This was entirely within their rights, and they were direct, fair, and respectful throughout.

We took everything down and made an appeal. We asked Valve whether there was any way to keep the project alive: properly licensed, with their blessing, on their terms. They said no. Given our backwards approach of building first and asking permission later, it was a fair answer.

That’s basically the whole story. We made something a lot of people were excited about, then incinerated our shot at bringing it to market. It’s a hard lesson to learn publicly.

It goes without saying, but we’ll say it regardless: Valve didn’t do anything wrong here. They built a game franchise a lot of people love and they alone get to decide how it’s used.

To everyone who was as excited about this project as we were: thank you, and sorry. Refunds are being issued today. If it hasn’t landed in your account by the end of this week, you know how to reach us.

To Valve: thank you for Portal, and sorry for the headache. We should’ve asked first.

Do you think there will be grifter/ragebait channels covering this with doom and gloom, gaming is dead, greedstar ect.?

Personally I think its a fine price for a the base game as big as this but i know its going to have MTX in the online mode anyway so maybe that Ultimate Edition shouldn't exist.

It's one game not the same situation as Nintendo so it will probably be flavour of the month topic now and then the outrage will be forgotten and the game will sell well anyway and a few detractors will speak out at launch time again. Don't think it will or can be milked that much.

Grifter Fritanga has video response to Blackbond buying a Switch 2 removed from youtube!

Mirrored clip of the video on X linked.

I didn't watch it all but from what i see it was deserved to be removed from what he was saying as it was just attacks and no substance.

He also read a comment calling Blackbond a cuckold, ironic.

Arlo grifts about DK Challenge for 11 minutes without knowing what it is!

He spends the whole video comparing it to Mario 35 as a piece of software that will be removed/deleted from existence in September when it just tracks some levels and challenges from existing gameplay that you can complete to get NSO cards/icons.

Made an entire video without doing basic research into what the DK Challenge is or even booting the Switch Online menu once to find out how it works.
