Why my moho probe is moving so fast I can't inject it?

Hello fellow green people. My question is simple: for some reason I just cannot fly in there. I thought if you use minimal amount of dv to just barely touch the other orbit, that way you move at the lowest relative speed. Then at apsis point you do the second burn and inject, if it's close to a planet you save a lot with gravity assist.

However I can't implement this in practice for moho. Somehow when I arrive I move at a straight line at 5kps. I launched in the proper launch window, I didn't overburn to move at higher relative speeds than required to intercept. Why is it so punishing? What did I do wrong?

Kerbalism mod reliability

I love the mod, thinking about the life support and whatnot is quite fun. But I have problems with reliability. I like the concept but I feel like it's poorly configured. For example I started a mission where I desided to get the Skipper (the mission asked me to run a test on a moon orbit). Well why not, I changed my design to support such a heavy drive, made into the orbit. I even didn't have to use it to finish my circularisation. Now I point for a moon prograde burn, burn for 3 seconds and.. it breaks. I EVA, go for it, fix it, restart the drive. Starting it aaand. It breaks again. I EVA once more, fix it, restart, 10 seconds of a burn at it explodes.

Like okay, reliability is important and stuff, but it was not years into exploitation, I just built it, it was brand new zero ignitions. It has ONE rated ignition, compared to terrier 23, or Ulysses 7 (which has better ISP and thrust).

I don't understand why it works this way. I don't quite want to "just edit the numbers myself" because I don't know what are the good values for that and I don't want to disable the mechanic entirely. I'm unsure if that's a mod problem, my problem or something in between. But I'd like to not have parts that you need to unlock and then they are completely useless. That's how I felt in Terra Invicta btw when they had drives like ArcJet that are worse than basic chemical drives. What is even the point.

Did I just finish the game?

Hello fellow green people. I discovered KSP not that long time ago, played extensively for dozens of hours per week, very passionate about it.I played the "career mode" where you have to spend budget and gather research point for better components. It was super fun.

However at some point it became old. Around the time I had to run multiple missions simultaneously (because I was waiting for launch windows) my ships also became vulnerable to krakens, I started using the strut "cheat" more and more often to make sure my ships are not disintegrated with some random dance of the components. I realised that I do all the same "burn prograde here, wait, burn retro there), a bunch of land missions (but there is not much to do on the surface of the bodies), waiting for the window to get back. So I closed the game and never opened it for some years now.

I see a lot of people writing posts about KSP in this sub and I wonder if it's all new people who didn't yet walk down this path or if there is more stuff to do and I just completely missed it? For instance I never did it to the outer planets because it felt like it won't be that much different comparing to the Mercury mission. I was waiting for the KSA to become a thing but it will most likely take a lot of time, with nothing else going on in the meantime.

Valve is actively helping cheaters to get their ingame satisfaction

I was thinking a lot about it, especially in a new season where our team would lead 2-9 and suddenly the guy starts doing no scope scout headhot multikills in the first 15 seconds of a round. And I realised that what was keeping cheaters in check in older versions of the game was the fact that you could leave it. If you play on a server where a guy walls everyone and their mother you can just disconnect and go somewhere else. CS has community servers but they have the other problem of finding people of your level. So it would be trading one issue for another.

Now I think the problem is that we don't have any way to end the game prematurely. In Dota for instance there is ff where you can just vote to surrender. It feels like valve is trying to ENFORCE players to play even when they don't want to. I always felt like enforcing other people to play the game the way a corporation wants was never good. Players should enjoy the game. And with current system we have cheaters just blatantly walling, aimboting and doing all other nasty stuff to legit players, and they get weekly account suspensions if they even attempt to fight back (and the only way to fight back is to not participate in this). So cheater gets whipping boys to shit on, and valve is actively preventing them to at least end their miserable experience by surrendering.

As you notice I don't even talk about VAC and stuff - I could even agree that it's so hard to detect the cheaters it can't be done just for the sake of the argument that even if it's true the Valve actively sabotaging players from doing anything on their own. As a result 9 players just waste half an hour of their time for the enjoyment of the cheater. So every single time cheater is queued valve is stealing 5 hours of humanity lifetime just like that.

The way to approach this is to give community SOME tools to deal with this in game. Right now as a player who is being shitted on you can only ask "please valve look at this player" and KEEP being beat because god forbids if you leave or stay AFK. Even if your entire team already is unwilling to play and wants to surrender it's not going to happen, because Valve wants you to be destroyed and cheater to have their fun. While I reckon the priorities should be reversed.

Copy as path broken after updating to tahoe

I was postponing the update for a long time but it was always right into my face so at some moment I decided to give it a spin. It all worked fine until today I found out that I can't quite use the workflow I used to use. The workflow is simple: if I want some file to be uploaded somewhere or sent to a friend or something, I would use "copy as path" option on a file:

https://preview.redd.it/kpy9nxpqx6ah1.png?width=1842&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae1c03f108bc645d1783f0033f5f487f9f8b7771

Then use it in a "go to everything" in the "file selection" menu to upload:

https://preview.redd.it/m6rikwd3y6ah1.png?width=2038&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed491a81846b2d5de274bc8edb1ebdf2d28d7d11

But here you can see the problem - the file name got corrupted and finder can't find it and shows no files to be uploaded. This is quite frustrating and I didn't quite find a solution for this.

Is there a way to fix it?

Dr. Baltar reaction to the president letter

I watched that part of the episode like 3 times and I don't get why Baltar becomes mad. Here is the full text for reference:

> President Baltar.

> I offer my sincere congratulations... I say that knowing we've had our differences and that you take office despite my many reservations. You may be the most brilliant person I've ever met, but your intelligence is unleavened by compassion. You must be reminded of your ethical responsibilities and challenged to rise above your own selfish needs.

> I don't write this to hurt you, but to beg you to open your heart. Understand that the people in the fleet look to you not just for leadership, but for solace... justice.

> Find a way to give them that, and you will be a great leader.

> Laura Roslin.

So... If I would get such a letter I would be flattered, not offended. And while I can imagine doctor still reacting that badly to "you're a genius BUT" sentence I have no idea why I've seen posts on the internet about that with "duh what Roslyn was even thinking by writing that", implying that it's not baltar's bad reception of that pretty flattering letter but it's somehow secretly humiliating? I just don't understand that reaction, the letter seems to be super constructive and even packs all the criticism within the compliment sandwich.

Am I missing something in here? How can you infer "she never trusted me" from this?

New tool for practice from Pros/GMs replays

Hey folks, I understand it's 2026 and not a whole lot learning is going on currently, but since 2010 I always wanted to get into gm. I used to be very good due to benefit of participating closed beta a couple of months before public release, but after that I had to study which made me not play a whole lot so I lost my advantage and pretty quickly I was stuck in diamon forever since then. And I always wanted to get to higher leagues. The issue is that a lot of really cool build orders that are played are only exist in replays or videos, which is hard to reproduce. Some people on spawningtools actually make a great effort to add some builds to the list and keep whatever exist updated, but they usually lag behind and only a fraction of cool builds are in there.

So to deal with that I created a new tool that I called sc2-replay-salt, which does exactly what name makes you think it does: you give it any replay and it will produce a build order + SALT encoding that can then be used with SALT/EMBOT mods in custom games to practice any build. No need to carefully write down every aspect of the build and then recreating it or waiting for people to do it for you and post it on spawningtools - it all is done automatically, for any game including yours if for any reason you wanted to share it.

I uploaded the tool to github: https://github.com/Pzixel/sc2-replay-salt.git

On windows it's braindead simple: you download the repo content, run the Install.bat and then there is a Drop replay on me.bat file. You drop replay on it and it creates a text file for a build in that particular game next to the replay itself. The file contains build step by step and its SALT that you can use later in EMBOT.

I created it for myself to practice, I tested it during tomorrow and haven't found any issues, so I hope it will be useful for other people as well. It requires python to be installed, if no python installed the installation script will do it itself, but that's something to be aware of. All source code is open sourced on github and licenced under MIT so feel free to read & modify & send PRs to your heart content.

The final result looks like this:
