Just for fun: starting activities!

Lighthearted post to balance out all of the other ones.

When did you start activities with your only child?

My 10 month old is crawling like crazy, pulling to stand and even standing independently for a few seconds. I’m eyeing a gymnastics place that starts parent/baby classes as early as 12 months old.

Is this too soon? Did you start activities early and realize that it would have been better to wait until age 2 or so?

Baby currently stays home with our wonderful nanny (or grandma) all day. So no interaction with other babies right now.

It’s always the second baby…

I have a 9 month old baby so I follow a lot of subs for new parents.

It seems like every other post is about a problem that OP is having with baby #1 who is still under ~2 years old.

At the end of the post, it’s always something like “we are desperate to solve this problem because baby #2 just arrived or is due next month. like, why are you doing this to yourselves, people?

Are we all just completely stressed out every minute that a newly crawling baby is awake?

Everything goes in the mouth.

Inside, it’s dog fur and dust bunnies. Outside, it’s rocks, sticks and dirt.

Actual human food is thrown on the floor immediately, of course.

Baby is constantly trying to pull up on things and toppling over half the time…

Is this a FTM thing? Or is everybody following their babies around just waiting for the next catastrophe?

Yellow wooly bear caterpillars are eating my potato plants?

I’ve seen potato beetles before but never had these guys on my potato plants. Keep them or squash them?

Did your low sleep needs baby ever get closer to average sleep needs?

Or is this my life now?

My newly 8 month old baby just pulled a 4/4/4 schedule and she was barely even tired at bedtime.

A normal day for us is ~10 hours of overnight sleep and 2 hours of naps.

Today, the naps were just 45 minutes each…

Back carry fit check, please!

Baby is 8 months old. This is our first time trying to back carry. I feel like she really wants to see over my shoulder but it’s just not quite high enough.

French toast was a success this time!

8 months old.

I tried to make this a few weeks ago and it was rejected with prejudice. Today she ate all of these.

The strawberry was explored but not consumed (sour face).

I’m not a chef but here’s the ingredients. I mixed one egg in a bowl with 1/2” bread cubes until they looked saturated. I cooked them in a pan with some butter until they looked done. Then, I thought that the cubes looked too big so I squished them between my fingers.

Mashed potatoes for 7 month old

I thinned out the potatoes with formula milk to get an applesauce consistency. Baby girl loved it!

2 weeks ago she would have rejected it because it had too much texture.
