Harsh reality ! Must read

I’ve been active here for the last 2–3 weeks and have seen quite a few posts about people looking for side hustles. Some of them are definitely genuine.

But one thing I’ve noticed is that there seems to be a perception that making ₹4–5k/month through a side hustle is extremely easy, even without any particular skills.

People often mention things like copy-pasting, basic content writing, simple editing, etc. But realistically, many of these tasks can now be done or heavily assisted by AI, so the competition is also much higher.

A little about me: I’m currently working full-time after completing my MBA. I also run a YouTube channel, and I’ve built a side hustle related to financial markets. The latter took me around 2–3 years to develop.

So from my experience, building a sustainable side hustle isn't as easy as it sometimes sounds on Reddit. It usually takes some combination of time, knowledge, skill development, experimentation and consistency.

If you’re in your early 20s, my honest advice would be: focus on building skills first. Learn something that has actual market value. Whether it’s finance, coding, sales, video editing, marketing, design, analytics or something else — having a skill gives you many more options than simply looking for “easy” online work.

There’s also an uncomfortable difference in the kinds of opportunities available to men and women online. Some women may have access to NSFW-related monetisation opportunities that simply aren't available to most men. That’s ultimately an individual choice, but it does mean that the online earning landscape isn't identical for everyone.

So when you see posts like:

Female -- age -- looking for work”»

and then look at what happens in the DMs, the reality can sometimes be very different from what the post initially suggests.

For guys especially, I think the practical takeaway is simple: build skills, gain experience and don't expect easy money without having something valuable to offer.

If anyone wants to know what I personally do, what my side hustles are, or wants some suggestions regarding content creation/YouTube — feel free to DM me.

My YouTube channel is already monetized, so I'm also happy to share what I've learned so far with anyone trying to build one.

Happy to help. 👍

Smash guys 🤮

Smash Guys is so overhyped 😭

Call me poor taste or whatever, but I genuinely didn't like it at all.

Went to the EcoWorld, Bellandur outlet just to try the hype. We ordered 3 burgers and chicken wings, and the bill was around ₹1,900.

One burger was nearly ₹500, and honestly, I found it so bad that I couldn't even finish it and threw it away. The wings weren't great either.

Maybe smash burgers just aren't for me, but I'll happily take a ₹100 Burger King/McDonald's burger any day. And for chicken, KFC >>>.

₹1,900 well and truly wasted 💀

Am I the only one who feels Smash Guys is massively overhyped?

Selling Samsung S21 FE + iPhone X 64GB .

Selling Samsung S21 FE + iPhone X 64GB

Hi all,

I’m selling my Samsung S21 FE and iPhone X 64GB. Both phones are old models, so you can check their original launch dates/specifications online.

Samsung S21 FE

- Has a green line issue on the display

- I checked with a local mobile shop; they quoted around ₹2,500 for a display replacement (likely a non-original display)

- Apart from the display issue, the phone is working fine

- No other known issues

- I currently don’t use this phone

iPhone X 64GB

- Battery drains relatively fast — around 6–7 hours, depending on usage

- I currently use it as my secondary phone, mainly for tracking my investments and finance apps

- Face ID works

- Everything else is working properly as far as I know

Both phones are in good physical condition and have been used with covers.

I don’t have the original bills/documents, but both phones belong to me. If required, I can provide my ID proof and make an affidavit regarding ownership.

💰 Price for both: around ₹20,000 Selling both together , not seperate.

And i myself use samsung ultra series , not in a need of money , so pls dont quote 5k , 6k . Be logical🫡

Slightly negotiable.

Location - marathalli bangalore , 560037

Interested buyers can DM me for pictures/details.

See You at ₹50 Lakh.

A few days ago, I shared that my personal mutual fund portfolio crossed ₹10 lakh.

Today, another milestone—my family's investment portfolio has also crossed ₹10 lakh. That money belongs to my father. This one, on my Samsung Ultra screen, is my own.

I'm 26.

Feels good, but this is just the beginning. A couple of market dips, some more disciplined investing, and I'll keep adding.

We maintain lot of liquidity as well.

No more portfolio updates for a while.

Next milestones:

₹50 lakh. Then ₹1 crore.

Round 2: Returning to F&O After 7 Years of Learning.

A few days back, I posted that my mutual fund portfolio had crossed ₹10 lakh. I'm the same guy.

Long story short:

I started trading when I was 19, during my second year of graduation. Like many beginners, I watched a few YouTubers hyping F&O and jumped straight into it.

Back then, I used Alice Blue. Margin requirements were around ₹25k for Nifty, Bank Nifty, and even Crude Oil.

I failed badly in F&O. The losses weren't huge, but mentally they hit hard. I still remember crying after losing just ₹1,000 in an intraday trade. That was a lot of money for me back then.

I eventually quit F&O completely.

Instead, I started learning about investing, SIPs, and mutual funds. (That's the story I shared in my previous post.) I finished my graduation, worked hard, got into an MBA (Finance), and two years ago I joined a European bank.

In August 2025, after a lot of testing, trial and error, and refining my approach, I started swing trading .

Fast forward to August 2026, and the strategy has delivered around a 23% return in its first year with almost no stress. (I've shared the P&L in my previous post.)

Now, from tomorrow, I'm stepping back into F&O—but with a completely different mindset.

I'll be trading 1 lot of Crude Oil M to start with.

Why crude oil?

- The commodity market stays open until around 11:30–11:45 PM, so it fits better with my office schedule.

- I can manage trades after work and even hold swings if needed.

- I work in a finance firm, so there are restrictions and I can't actively trade during office hours.

This time, I'm not chasing quick money. I've spent months refining my rules, defining my risk, and keeping my position size small.

Let's see how it goes.

Wish me luck. 🤞

Frm study partner

Hi all,

26M, MBA graduate and a working professional preparing for FRM Part I.

I've completed around 60–70% of the syllabus and am looking for a serious study partner to revise concepts, discuss doubts, and stay accountable.

I already have all the study materials.

Please DM only if you've already started your preparation and have covered a decent portion of the syllabus. If you haven't started yet or are just planning to begin, this probably won't be a good fit.

If you're serious about clearing the exam, I think it would be mutually beneficial for both of us.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me.

Built a Side Income Alongside My 9–5: Year 1 Results

A few weeks ago, I posted about the side gig I've been building alongside my full-time job after completing my MBA. I work at a European bank, and this was the first year I stopped overthinking and actually turned an idea into execution.

These are the results from my first year of trading the financial markets.

No, it's not a life-changing amount of money. But this year was never about getting rich—it was about proving to myself that I could build something on the side with consistency and discipline.

I've always believed that people aren't defined by how much money they have today, but by the vision they have for tomorrow. If you have the right mindset, stay patient, and keep executing, the money eventually follows.

This is just Year 1. On to the next.

Created a side hustle.

Hi all , new to reddit.

working in an european bank after my MBA finance.

As metro cities are very expensive , i got this feeling in very first few months so decided to create side hustle side by side with job.

I created 2 side hustle , from both i am getting money.

Wanted to discuss one right now.

I started it in AUG 2025 , and now we are in JULY 2026 , competed 1 year approx and on monthly basis ,

on an average i can earn 5k INR , some months it goes to 10k , some months 3k so average comes 5k INR , no tax i have to pay on this income , may be to some people it will sound very low , tbh i also think same but this was my first year , i was learning about it , tried to make it efficient , tried to analyse pros and cons of this side hustle.

I can easily expand this..

Lets see how it goes.

EDIT : It is related to financial markets. Not a derivative trading & algos.
