An okayish Vietnamese meal at Phobidden fruit - Indiranagar

After hearing a lot about Vietnamese food at this place, we chose to go for brunch on a weekday. We gotta a nice cosy indoor sitting next to their in-house green space(50% real - 50% artificial plants lol). We ordered creamy seasame noodles(650), an avo bahn mi(450) and a classic bun cha. I was very much excited about the Bun Cha(700), as I had the most authentic one in Vietnam(the one featured on Tony's show with Barack Obama) so my expectations were straight up high for that and Bahn mi too.

First in, we got the creamy sesame noods which was told to us that it would be saucy. But when we got it, it was soupy/runny as hell with no body(viscous). The sesame flavour was raw, mushrooms in it were well cooked and had a great texture. Second in, the bahn mi short baguette was really good, it had more room for flavouring tho. Lastly, the Bun Cha was very average, grilled pork and buff patties were really well cooked and seasoned. The quantities for soup and vermicelli noods were really less for the pricing.

Tl;dr - a very okayish Vietnamese food, few things are good and few are terrible. Ppl who have had food in Vietnam can skip.

Looking for a really good food spot in Jaya Nagar

Hey folks,

I moved towards Jaya Nagar 5th phase recently and I'm craving for some hearty food.

Tried the Kind cafe yesterday and an Udupi for lunch today but it doesn't hit the same like MG road, 7 plates rolls, Persian kebab co. Etc.

I really wanna have a hearty meal tonight but something cost effective around 200-250 for one.

Cuisine can be indo chinese (street style like in hyd) or like good Arabian, sick of pizzas and pastas, don't wanna have roti sabzi either.

Any recommendations?

Hey everyone,
Planning an official team lunch for a group of **8 people** this week. We are looking for a good **buffet place** close to **Ecospace, Bellandur**, so we don’t waste too much time stuck in ORR traffic during lunch hours.
**Budget:** Around ₹1200 per person (can stretch slightly if corporate discounts apply).
Cuisine - nothing particular

I had a highly disappointing burger from The Burgery In.

I had ordered a Smash Down(a quarter pounder with some cheese and pickles also some sweetish Mayo). The packaging was sub'est parrr. All this for 500 bucks. My housemade garlic crisp chilli oil for the rescue!! Thoughts? Experiences?

hosting another apartment pop-up on July 11th in Frazer Town! | Rs. 699/person

hi there!

about a year ago, I started hosting a monthly pop-up café called cuppa jo from my apartment in Bangalore. what began as a way to make friends and bring people together over coffee has slowly grown into a community of strangers, creatives, coffee/matcha lovers and curious people looking to spend a few hours offline.

the interesting part is that no two editions are the same, and most of our coffee/matcha flavours - you won’t get in any other cafe in Bangalore (we make all syrups in-house so you don’t have that sugary synthetic nonsense).

one month we might be serving a themed menu inspired by nostalgia, another month we're hosting a zine-making/clay modelling workshop, a game-based tournament, a karaoke session, or something completely unexpected. every edition is designed from scratch, from the menu to the experience itself.

if you're someone who:

  • loves discovering unique local experiences
  • enjoys good coffee/matcha and conversation
  • wants to meet new people outside of the usual networking events
  • misses doing things just for fun

you might enjoy what we're building.

we've hosted 15+ experiences across three formats, and are currently growing our community and would love to have more people join us.

this is meant to be a safe and creative space to unwind, vibe to great music, play some games and make new connections over a freshly brewed cup of coffee and food.

other details:
there is a cover charge per person (Rs.699) which covers:

- a welcome drink

- a specialty coffee

- light snacks

no payments are taken for filling the form, but only after an invite has been extended to you. DM for more info!

Folks living in HSR or working here

As some one living in HSR for like eternity, from 2008 lols :), I am missing joints which has home cooked food. Back in my college days in Manipal, we used to visit a home to eat some home cooked food. Here in HSR, i have tried multiple times to eat from the North Karnataka food joints, they are affordable but they are , almost all of them gives a low hygiene appearance. So where do you folks eat on a daily basis? Yes I do cook at home, but some days I want to just go out and grab a nice and clean lunch.

Looking for a Pure Veg PG near Nagavara / Manyata Tech Park (Male)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a clean, well-maintained, pure vegetarian PG near Nagavara or Manyata Tech Park.

My preferences:

100% Pure Veg food (no non-veg cooked or served)

Hygienic rooms and bathrooms

Reliable Wi-Fi

Washing machine & power backup

Peaceful environment (working professional)

If you've personally stayed at a good PG or know of one that meets these requirements, I'd really appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

Unpopular opinion: Corner House Yelahanka is good but the daily evening madness makes it wildly overhyped

Look, don’t get me wrong. I love a good DBC or a classic Hot Fudge Sundae as much as the next person. Corner House is a legendary Bangalore store and the quality is definitely good.

But can someone explain why the Yelahanka New Town store is absolutely packed to the brim every single evening?

Every time I pass by after 8 PM, it looks like a mini-festival. People are practically spilling onto the street just waiting for a scoop of ice cream. It is solid but it also feels incredibly overhyped for the amount of chaos you have to navigate just to place an order.

Is it just the lack of other dessert spots in the immediate area or is the FOMO pulling everyone in? What is the actual obsession here?

Best vegetarian restaurant

I will explain the deal, I have a friend whom I helped to crack an internship although his efforts were greater, but he promised me to give me a party, with a budget around 10k for just the 2 of us.

Kindly suggest some good places in Bangalore

P.S. I am vegetarian and I dont drink

Any area, any cuisine and under 10k for 2

Edit: restaurants need not be pure vegetarian, just veg food should be available that's good
