Choosing the right car

Choosing the right car

Hey all,

Before I begin, I’m probably overthinking this, I know. I recently bought LMU and have about 15 hours in it now. Around 12 of those are in the Mercedes, but I recently got all the DLCs. I started thinking: since I spent money on the DLCs and now have “better” cars available, I might as well use one of them.

So I started looking at what cars are good and easy to drive, and I ended up with this rough list:

  • Ford / Lamborghini / Corvette: too hard for me right now
  • Porsche: fun, but a bit too tricky for a first car
  • Lexus / McLaren: never tried, and I kind of want to stay away from the default/free cars
  • Ferrari: slow?

So that leaves me with the Mercedes, BMW, and Aston Martin. I’ve tried all of them and I like them all.

I’ve seen that the BMW is considered a great beginner car, but people also say it’s a bit slow? The Aston Martin seems very strong and good with fixed setups, but I haven’t really seen it labeled as beginner-friendly. The Mercedes is the one I’ve driven the most and I like how it feels, but I’m not sure where it ranks. Apparently it’s a bit of a “dark horse,” and I’ve also seen it described as good for beginners.

So I’m a bit unsure what I should do. I know the obvious answer is “just pick something and drive,” but I don’t want to feel like I’m wasting time on a car that isn’t worth it.

I mainly watched a few videos (Vid #1, Vid #2, Vid #3, Vid #4) and also read a blog post, but everything feels pretty subjective. At the moment, there’s a VMS Pro Series race at Silverstone and I see a BMW leading, then a Ford, Porsche, Porsche, and a Merc. And when I watch higher-level content, I also often see Ferraris in the mix (like UKOG & Dan Suzuki), so I’m not sure what to make of it.

I guess I just needed to type this out and maybe have a conversation with someone about it.

What car and track to practice?

Hey all,

This is a 2-parter.

I recently bought LMU without any DLC yet. I know, I know everyone always asks “Should I buy DLC?” and the usual answer is: no, just see if you enjoy the game first, especially since Bronze races are on non-DLC tracks anyway. I think that’s valid advice.

But when I looked at the Bronze daily race, it’s an LMP3 race at Bahrain. Right now I’m practicing LMGT3 because I’ve heard they’re the best class for beginners. This doesn’t really have anything to do with DLC since I can’t race anything else anyway, but should I start practicing LMP3 as well if they also show up in Bronze events?

Also, I’m really enjoying the game. I haven’t had it for long, but there’s currently a good sale (30% off most DLC). The Summer Sale is also right around the corner, and I’m not sure if I should buy now or wait. I do enjoy the game and want to get the DLC at some point.

So to sum it up:

  • Should I keep practicing LMGT3 or add LMP3 into the mix?
  • And do you think the discount might be better during the Summer Sale? Obviously nobody knows for sure, but based on previous sales, what would you expect?

Also i used ChatGPT to correct the message since i am dislectic

23M Looking for genuine friendship to play games and talk about cars.

Heyo! I’m Ramon, but online I usually go by Amon since it’s easier for some people to pronounce. I’m 23M from the Netherlands and looking for a genuine friendship — someone to game with but also really connect with.

A bit about me: I love gaming, but I’m looking for more than just someone to queue with. I enjoy deeper conversations, sharing interests, listening to each other, and just being able to be ourselves. I can be quite serious, but I definitely have a joking side too. I love when conversations don’t stay surface level and really enjoy deeper, more meaningful talks, if that makes sense.

Gaming-wise, I mainly play FPS games. My main game is Rainbow Six Siege, but I’m trying to get into Valorant as well. I’m also down for things like Warzone, Fortnite, Apex, CS2, Overwatch, Delta Force, etc. As long as the vibe is good, I’m open to most games.

One thing about me: I’m a bit competitive 😅 I like improving and trying my best, so someone who somewhat knows what they’re doing is a bonus (but don’t worry, I’m not some cracked player either — Siege is probably the only game I’m actually decent at).

Outside gaming, I’m really into motorsports. I love F1, but lately endurance racing has become my thing, especially events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It would be cool to watch races together or just nerd out about it. Same thing here — I’m totally down to introduce people to the sport, but I’d also love someone who already knows the terminology so we can have deeper conversations about it.

How can i improve this lap around Japan

Japan has been one of my worst tracks. I can't keep up with the AI the same way I can on other tracks. Is there anything I'm doing wrong in this lap? The traffic at the end wasn't great, but the last corners seem to be fine for me—I think the lap time is hiding somewhere else in the lap. Also, for reference, I drive with ABS, this is my third season of career mode, and I try to follow this video
