How can St. Thomas Aquinas' view that the "rites of unbelievers" shouldn't be tolerated by the Church be reconciled the Dr. Thomas Pink's view of religious liberty, which states that the Church, through the secular arm, can only coerce the baptized?

Rosary Question

I know why that all the vocal prayers in the Rosary (the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be) are powerful in and of themselves, but what's the point of having them when our minds are focused on the mystery? What makes it different from just useless, mechanical, recitation?

What's the most convincing argument against the morality of impurity?

It's wicked because it doesn't satisfy the ends for which sex exists, but someone could just say that it doesn't matter if it doesn't satisfy these ends so long as nobody is harmed. How would you respond?

According to pre-conciliar popes, what reasons justify the restriction of religious liberty?

It's clear that the common good would suffice, like restricting proselytism in order to keep the country Catholic, but would the pre-conciliar popes say that the simple fact of false religions being wrong justifies their suppression? If so, then how can that be squared with Dignitatis Humanae?

Two Questions abt Palamism

  1. From a Thomistic lense, why is Palamism incorrect? Why must the divine nature be absolutely simple, even though the existence of different energies in Palamism do not imply composition?

  2. Is Palamism heretical?

Why do the deficiencies in the Novus Ordo make it cease to be a pleasing sacrifice?

I understand the various ways in which the traditional Roman Rite is superior to the New Rite. However, I do not understand why the problems with the New Rite are so eggregious that the New Rite isn't even pleasing to God. The Society's official position is that the Novus Ordo is evil.

Why does the SSPX believe they have the right to make such a claim? Please maintain charity within the comments. My goal is not to attack you guys but is rather to gain a better understanding of why you hold to certain positions so that I can make a personal judgement on the SSPX.

How far should the 5th promise of the Rosary be interpreted?

"The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary shall not perish."

Obviously this doesn't mean that a soul can die in mortal sin and go to heaven because they devoutly recited the Rosary throughout their life, but does it mean that Mary will ensure that every soul who devoutly recites the Rosary every day will die in a state of grace? Does this mean that all heretics and schismatics who pray the Rosary daily with great devotion will, by their death, be brought to repentence?

What is Meant by Lumen Gentium When it Says that Episcopal Ordination Confers the Offices of Ruling and Teaching?

It seems to be stating that jurisdiction is giving by consecration, but that would be totally contradictory to the traditional Catholic faith, right?

I would guess that it refers to a certain ontological effect that disposes one to ruling and teaching but doesn't itself provide the authority to exercise that office over a certain particular church - that would come from canonical mission.

How does the SSPX view Vatican II?

I know the Society doesn't view it in a good way. But does the SSPX believe that Vatican II actually contains grave errors or is the position that Vatican II is highly ambiguous?

About Salvation

From an Orthodox view, what determines whether a soul will be damned or beatified?

I'm especially curious with how the Orthodox view compares with the Catholic view, which is that salvation depends on whether or not someone died in a state of grace.
