A Fight Match for the Ages!

I was walking along at our local street fair today, browsing all the stalls, and I spotted this fight night promotion style Kirk vs Gorn sign printed on a wood panel with wall hook on the back. I couldn’t resist. A perfect match for some other Star Trek decor I have in my book nook.

A fun exchange between Hastings and Poirot in “Dumb Witness”

I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at this exchange between Hastings and Poirot in Dumb Witness, which I’m currently reading.

“Are you going to point out that little error over the brooch?”
“Certainly not. That little fact remains up my sleeve until the right moment comes.”
“Then what are you going to say to her?”
“That, mon ami, you will hear in due course.”
“More lies, I suppose?”
“You are really offensive sometimes, Hastings. Anybody would think I enjoyed telling lies.”
“I rather think you do. In fact, I’m sure of it.”
“It is true that I sometimes compliment myself upon my ingenuity,” Poirot confessed naively.

My 2 Hitchcock posters in my Book Nook

I acquired these in Hollywood during the late 90s when I was a teenager at my family were in LA area to hit up both Disneyland and Universal Studios. I had recently become a Hitchcock fan and these 2 were my favorite films of his.

My fantasy book haul

Took my nephew and nieces to the bookstore yesterday and they only left with 1 Manga book between all 3 of them, while I left with these. Could have been more if they’d let me linger more but once they found what they were looking for they’re ready to go.

Kings of the Wyld is the only one I’d heard about before. Looking forward to diving into the Katherine Kerr books and interest in Paula Volsky’s The Gates of Twilight (though I thought it was a standalone when I picked it up)

now reading “The Butcher’s Masquerade”

I just finished book 4. This series just keeps getting better and better. Donut’s right. Sometimes Carl really is properly crazy. But he’s not going to let them break him. He’ll break them! Also that epilogue! Oh boy. I’ll eagerly anticipate that payoff.

I’m eager to dive into book 5.

one scene that for some reason just gave me a minute long belly laugh

I just finished book 3, and while there were numerous laughs throughout, there's this one scene that for some reason just gave me a minute long belly laugh where my whole body just shook with the sheer insanity of it. It was just so out of the blue and unexpected. It was >!after the last game announcement, when Carl is in the middle of filling Mordecai in on all he's missed, when all of sudden blood just explodes out of Katia.!< I think it was really just Carl's description of it all that just made me laugh, laugh, laugh.

I’m new to the crawl. I bought the paperback edition of book 1 on New Years Day during my family’s tradition of buying a book on New Years Day at a bookstore, but didn’t pick up to read until this last Thursday. I’d gotten sick and did have anything else to do so I read it and boy did I have fun. I immediately ordered the next two books and now they’ve arrived I’m pumped to get started on Carl’s Doomsday Scenario.
