hey gyz,

i'm new to reddit, it's been only a month and about 8-9 days i'm actively using reddit;

really found reddit more interactive and a place to share almost everything;

idk much about reddit subs; just joined them through random searches;

like i got a channel on telegram where i post random bs pics from the internet; just an archive of interesting images;

i added some examples too;

idk what's the genre and all; it's just if i find it interesting, i post it;

if you know what this hobby is called, please let me know!!

i feel these images represent a small part of me lol, that's probably why i find them interesting;

also, as an 18-year-old guy, any recommendations for an author or a book?

i'm very interested in philosophical literature;

India's military is preparing for a drone heavy future!!!!

with how much drones have been used in recent conflicts, you see in Russia-Ukraine, Middle East, etc;

this was bound to happen sooner or later tbh;

india is reportedly planning to spend over $2 billion (19 crores approx) on military drones from domestic companies which would make it the country's biggest drone procurement so far;

apparently the orders are being fast-tracked and deliveries could happen within the next 18-24 months;

recent conflicts have shown just how much drones can change the battlefield, and india seems to be going all in on that lesson;

coding buddy??

heya, i'm 18M;

tbh i'm looking for people who're learning to code and wanna do it consistently on a daily basis;

i've got almost a 2 month break rn,

so i'm planning to focus on a few things:

• DSA (gonna revise arrays, strings, basic algorithms, then move to stacks, queues, linked lists, trees, etc; solve questions along the way) with java

• android app dev (total beginner here; probably gonna learn react native or flutter)

• backend development (i already know backend, just wanna get better at it for interview prep level stuff) with python

• system design (already love this stuff, but wanna learn more concepts and understand how real systems work)

what i can help you with:

• DSA; can definitely help with concepts and solving questions

• python/backend related stuff

• brainstorming project ideas and building random side projects

• system design discussions

• staying consistent and keeping each other accountable; mutual ofc

btw i know python, java, and go;

i'm doing all of this alone rn and it kinda sucks tbh; i'm not the most consistent person either, so maybe having at least a peer to learn with will help;

doesn't matter if you're a complete beginner or already know some stuff; as long as you're serious about learning and can put in effort consistently;

if you're interested, feel free to reach out ;)

we really need to re-think

it's too much now!!!

it's a request to m0ds, don't remove it;

I have seen too much bs happening!!!

my city, my state or even my country doesn't feel right anymore; all that years of culture and bs is just hollow teaching now; we fuking can't create a safer society for females then what tf are we following our religion, teaching nd all that historical bullshit that we're proud of!!!

my bestie experienced sexual ãssault when she was 13 by her fuking cousin!! you see her fuking brother!!! jisko aaj bhi woh rakhi bandh rahi!!! kya karein aise rakhi ka? jala ke fek deni chahiye;

her family members never did anything, even her parents kyun? Khandan ki respect!!!

vro it's too much now; don't make it a gender war; but the thing is these assaults and räpe stuff is getting out of hand; we need collaborative effort!!!

Vro as a boy I feel ashamed!!!

these mfs can't control themselves?? yaar saamne koi bina clothes ke kyun na ho, tum khud par control nahi kar sakte??

It's like everyone is blaming everyone;

I feel like none is actually fixing the issue!!!

these son of bitches say 'girls chhote kapde pehenkar ghumti hain' 'girls ladkon ke saath ghumti hain'

and then comes pseudo-feminists who fuking don't wanna address the issue, they fuking make nonsense bullshit out of it and we have teens following it!!!

we have politicians saying agr rok nhi skte toh enjoy karo!!! Vrooo wtf!!!

genuinely I personally wanna do something!!!

as a man I want a change!

not just india but the world needs to heal;

Edit: I have been into a boys hostel for the first time in my life! There, they fuking categorize and rank girls! wtf vro

It's not like ki they're backwards or from villages or anything; they're fuking the nation's top 10% rankers

i found a vuln, run a small saas, build random stuff, and still don't know what i'm doing

18 y.o engineering student from a tier 69 clg in india;

1st year just got over and i have around 2 months before sem 3 starts;

academically im cooked tbh;

got around 5.2 sgpa in sem 1 and sem 2 probably won't be much better either;

but outside college i've spent most of my time building random shit and going down tech rabbit holes;

sometimes i feel like i know a lot of stuff;
other times i feel like i know absolutely nothing;

some of the stuff i've done till now:

backend

  • been doing python for quite a few years now;
  • built a bunch of flask apps and apis;
  • worked with auth systems, api keys, rate limiting, subscriptions, databases, file uploads, webhooks, etc;
  • deployed stuff on vpses and spent way too many nights debugging why something works locally but not on production;
  • used stuff like sqlalchemy, mongodb, sqlite, redis and all that;

saas stuff

  • have a small saas business;
  • nothing huge but enough to get actual users;
  • learned that users somehow always find bugs you never thought were possible;
  • had to deal with support, deployments, outages, feature requests and all the fun stuff that tutorials never talk about;

web scraping / automation

  • built scrapers for collecting business listings and lead data;
  • made a bunch of telegram bots and automation tools;
  • spent way too much time trying to bypass random anti-bot protections;
  • learned that scraping is 20% coding and 80% fighting websites;

ai stuff

  • built transcription related projects;
  • played around with voice systems, ai apis, chat systems and workflow automation;
  • built products where ai was actually part of the workflow instead of just another chatgpt wrapper;

cybersecurity

  • recently started getting into this;
  • found a vuln in the hostel vending machine system which was pretty fun;
  • wasn't some crazy bug bounty level finding but it was the first time i found something myself in a real system;
  • now i've been going deeper into security stuff whenever i get time;

other random projects

  • telegram bot for engineering counselling;
  • face recognition attendance system;
  • website hosting platform ideas;
  • voice assistant projects;
  • probably 50 other half-finished ideas that sounded revolutionary at 2 am;

the problem is;

i feel like i've touched way too many things;

if i compare myself with people doing competitive programming;
my dsa is weak;

if i compare myself with good backend engineers;
i barely know anything about distributed systems, large scale infra, platform engineering, observability, queues, reliability, etc;

if i compare myself with security people;
im still a beginner;

if i compare myself with mobile devs;
i haven't even started yet;

so now during these 2 months i kinda wanna focus on:

  • dsa daily;
  • backend engineering at an actual interview level;
  • react native / android dev;
  • system design, distributed systems and platform engineering;

and this is where i'm confused;

am i trying to do too much?

should i just double down on backend since that's where i've spent most of my time already?

am i becoming one of those people who knows a little bit about everything but isn't actually great at anything?

and for people who are further ahead;

what resources would you recommend for:

  • dsa
  • backend engineering
  • react native
  • system design
  • platform engineering

tbh i'm not looking for motivation;

just want honest advice from people who've been in a similar position;

because right now it feels like i've built more stuff than most people around me;
but at the same time i don't feel remotely competitive for good internships or interviews;

tl;dr:

  • 18 y/o, tier 3 college, 5.2 sgpa.
  • spent more time building stuff than studying. done backend, saas, scraping, automation, ai projects and recently started security.
  • feel like i know a little about a lot of things but not enough about any one thing.
  • have 2 months free.
  • if you were me, would you focus on dsa, backend, react native or systems? and what resources would you use?

epidemic of loneliness is insane...

im 18M from india, cs engineering student somewhere in Delhi NCR

tbh out of 8billion people i found none who would be my friend :( it sucks tbh

honestly just looking for genuine online friends rn, kind ones....

im into coding, startups, tech, random late night deep talks, and sharing dumb ideas that randomly come into my mind at 3am

currently in a tier 3 clg hostel and it feels lonely asf sometimes. i do have people around me, but nobody i genuinely connect with

made some money through code, paid my own fees, bought myself stuff like a mac and iphone, but did everything alone and now it just feels empty

would be cool to meet people with similar vibes, maybe code together, talk daily, share ideas/rants/music/memes or just exist without judging each other

tbh looking for long term friends :)

teen dev here; built a huge indian startup dataset and wanna build something real with other teen builders

mods please remove if not allowed but i'm genuinely looking for advice + maybe other teen builders to work with;

i'm a teen developer from india and over the last few months i've been collecting and organizing public startup/company data into one searchable dataset

it currently has thousands of indian startups with things like:

  • industry/category
  • startup stage
  • websites
  • public business emails
  • company descriptions
  • city/state
  • other public business info

originally i made it for learning and side projects but now i'm realizing it could maybe become something bigger

ideas i had:

  • startup lead gen tool
  • ai outreach assistant
  • founder discovery/search engine
  • startup trends dashboard
  • agency helping startups automate repetitive work
  • talking to founders and finding common problems to build tools around

but honestly i don't know which direction actually makes sense 😭

also one reason i'm posting this is because i wanna meet other teen builders/designers/marketers who are into startups, ai, saas, growth, automation etc

feels like most people our age just consume content while a few are actually trying to build cool stuff and i wanna find those people;

if you had access to a dataset like this what would you build with it?
