Pre-ordering a new Charvel USA Custom San Dimas; Inlays yes or no?

Agreed on 4.1k USD, gonna be my classic rock/swiss army knife guitar. What do yall think about this guitar? Am very interested what others think good or bad.

I'm thinking of adding sharkfin inlays but if it costs more than 300 think i'm ok with the clean look.

Originally a classical player but picked up guitar again but switched to ELECTRIC. Currently rocking a E-II horizon NT with emg's; but found out EVH is one of my favorites recently.

Inlays or nah?

Pre-Ordering new guitar, inlays or nah?

Hi all,

Looking for a more versatile guitar in future than my current E-II NT horizon with emg 57/66. I've settled on charvel since i like the body/neck and i want a unique finish color in lavender. Also the SD JB on bridge should be able to play anything.

I also have a custom boutique classical worth 8k with no inlay just side dots, but never really played past 12th fret on that guitar regularly and had no issues. Should i get inlays or nah? It will cost a bit more and take longer. I'm looking to play 80's rock/metal and metal/some jazz.

Current specs:

High-Gloss Polyester Finish; Premium Alder Body Wood; Oil Finished Quartersawn Maple Bolt-On Neck Construction; Ebony Fingerboard; Pointy Charvel® Headstock; Heavy-Rolled Shoulders; No Fingerboard Inlays; 22 - Stainless-Steel Jumbo Frets; White Side Dots; Floyd Rose® Locking Nut; Black Floyd Rose® Top-Mount Bridge; Hum - Single Pickup Rout; Seymour Duncan® JB™ Black Bridge Pickup; Seymour Duncan® Hot Rails® Black Cover Neck Pickup; Black Gotoh Tuning Keys; Black Knurled Metal Dome Knob(s); 3-Way Toggle Switch; Black 17mm Strap Buttons; .009" to .042" Strings; Toothpaste Style Black Logo; Molded Hardshell Case; Certificate of Authenticity

Edit: I'm still 50/50 on inlays but the side dots should be able to do the job

PSA: Go easy on chord slides to avoid string cuts

After mainly acoustic/nylon player for 20 years, i'm now making the switch to electric/metal/hardrock. (6 months ago).

I kind of been playing a lot of stuff with chord slides (MOP) and just naturally been doing it to stay legato but lately i realized my fingers are not immune to string cuts by sliding around too much. Never thought this was possible after playing so long but i guess i never really utilized technique that much until switching to electric. (Thanks eddie for giving me this habit of sliding to a note then vibratoing it).

So the next few days or weeks i will limit my slides and try to let my finger pads heal.

Will quad cortex solve some of my idiocy? (Scarlett/pc issues)

Long story short, I am switching from classical player (15+ years) to rock/metal/electric.

I got the 5150 iconic 1x12 combo amp and i bought the scarlett so i can practice plugged in at night.

Anyhow my goal is to just be able to plug in, KNOW everythign is working perfectly (i don't wanna worry about configuring bitrates or any computer terms), and PRACTICE with headphones.

Eventually in near future i would like to record, learn how to use a DAW, and make music videos/covers. The scarlett seems easy enough to use but i keep getting static noises or the tone and everything will be fine... then i press a button or something and i get some kinda additional unwanted noise or w/e.

My question is if i get the quad cortex, is it pretty easy to plug in and not have to worry about syncing scarlett or which outputs to turn on or inputs etc?
Also, is it normal to hear crackling when all strings are muted? Like where im literally have my hands holding the strings so they wont move.

Best amp sim for my Scarlett 2i2?

Hi guys, i bought my scarlett to practice/record at home. What is the easiest amp sim or neural dsp to use?

I tried amplitude 5 but don't like how everything was locked and heard they have sales so i'll wait for that.

I heard a lot about gojira? Is it the archetype: gojira that i need? whatever that is?

Thanks again in advance for any help. I just want something simple i can use to where i just plug in my guitar to scarlett and practice away with a few solid toans to work with.

Edit: Help... im getting latency with gojira making it unplayable.

Easier to get hired as limited term?

Trying to promote out of AGPA. Preferably in Sacramento but open to living ANYWHERE as long as it's close enough to big cities and not fully remote. Current workplace has new management, I work in admin for all the chiefs basically and they've added a bunch of changes etc. with no clear direction or assistance.

A little bit of an exodus happening, but obviously not all due to management.

Anyhow, if there are multiple job postings for same spot and one is limited term, would it be much easier to apply to that one since it will probably get less applicants? Or do they all go to the same interviews and admin decides which gets permanent and which gets limited based on interview ranking? Also random question any Labor relations specialist here wanna recommend or talk about their job? or tips to transition to RDA/RDS series?

Also any tips for acquiring supervisor 1 interview would be fantastic also. I try to tailor everything now instead of mass apply but it's still not enough it seems. Which supervisory jobs will accept candidates that haven't done the analyst version of the job unit? I try to steer clear from contracts, finance, or super specific jobs that I know will most likely require previous experience to be considered.

After 7 years with the state starting as an OA/OT, im so sick of titles I just want to do the job without too much red tape. I hate how we overly justify some of the things we do because we're "the state" and generally not a profit generating service. The premise of my job is so literally flawed it will never work lol. I won't go into more detail obv but yeah thanks for any feedback.

What do you call amps that have PC connectivity?400- 1800$ budget

Hi guys, new to electric guitar but my first year playing guitar 20 years ago was electric.

I just bought an E-II horizon NT. Looking to mostly play metal and classic rock. I'd love to have a great clean channel too (classical guitar background) but main emphasis is distorted tones. I heard about the scarlet interface, i will probably get that next paycheck and maybe an sm57.

I am currently using a mg30fx i got about five years ago but never really used until now. It' sounds FINE for what it is but i'm looking for a bit more power, better output that will fill the room and not die out or lose integrity of sound.

Which amp would satisfy my needs:

  1. great for home/apartment/small gig

2)headphone connectivity

  1. being able to record directly to computer or load channels? are these called modelers?

  2. being able to record with video without it sounding like crap

  3. good quality sound not too stereo-y

I am also open to tube options but that's probably a different thread altogether.

Currently i'm looking at boss katana 3 and Peavey Vypyr X2 60-watt 1 x 12-inch Combo Amplifier.

Mainly metal/classic rock. I just bought an E-II horizon NT, looking to become a shredder. Currently using a marshall MG30fx i bought in 2023 ago but never really picked up electric till now.

Mostly will be playing at home metallica stuff but looking to move to apartment. I want a home amp that could play a small gig/open mic. My goal is to eventually join a band once my chops are a lot better.

Do they make amp nows that also have modeller or idk what it's called but to connect to computer to load other tones and play with headset? Currently i play my MG30fx when noone home and with my Sennheiser 560s headphone.

Also Tube vs Solid State? Cabinet vs regular practice amp? What can i get better than my MG30fx? I think the distortion sounds fine but clean channel is kinda bad to say the least imo.

Floyd rose VS Hard Trem. Gloss Vs Satin etc..

ESP: E-II Horizon NT-II or Jackson Soloist SL2MG

Hello all, lifelong classical guitarist trying to transition to Metal/rock. I want to buy a guitar in the 1-3k range, preferably with EMG pickups since i remember as a kid my first lessons my teacher had EMG pickups and he was awesome and love the tone. But, i'm open to ANY guitar on any budget as long as it looks good, feels good, and will make me wanna play it. I currently also have a mexican strat vintera 70's style.

Anyhow, currently i've narrowed my choices to these two guitars. I'm open to ibanez, prs, sheckter literally any brand but havent looked too into their guitars other than the c1 hellraiser.

I got to try the SL2mg yesterday and today (two diff guitar centers lol). While i'm loving the looks and sound, i'm not sure about the matte or satin finish. Dunno if i felt weird cuz i was playing at store or what but it wasn't a home run first playthrough experience like most my other guitars. I do know the fender glossy finishes i do like, would probably prefer to get a guitar like that.

Also bonus question, I'm very torn I think i want the floyd rose and learn how to use the system. I'm willing to learn all the complexities and what not. BUT i know that there's plenty of stuff i can work on until i really really need one and have the skills to use the whammy bar.

What i really really want tho is a electric guitar in lavender color with EMG's... Havent found one standard yet w/o going custom that i like. But really this queestion is

MATTE Finish + FR vs Glossy esp HT.

edit: New challenger, Charvel Custom Shop San Dimas HS FR - Lavender Ice

planning on selling a few things that will cover this guitar w/o having to use credit/financing.

Thanks in advance for any help.
