Looking for some trans/enby friends to learn how to play on TTS with

As the title says, I'm trans and I want more trans friends. I also want to learn Warhammer 40k, and it seems like combat patrol is the way to go there. I plan on buying actual models somewhere down the line, but TTS is ideal for the time being. I'm leaning Death Guard but i'm pretty open to trying a bunch of different armies before settling on something I like to eventually buy, build and paint up. I have tried putting out this sentiment on other platforms and have been met with some "why do you need to learn from trans people?" kind of responses. I appreciate that you're willing to help/teach but that's simply not what I'm after at the moment. If my search for trans warhammer friends is entirely fruitless I'd be happy to hang out with some cis folks.

Where do you spray your topcoat?

Hi folks!
First time top coater here. I have two different types of top coat and want to use the dullcote to practice before using the Mr Super Clear on my Sazabi Ver Ka.

I live in an apartment with a relatively large wooden porch and a front yard on a busy street corner. I’m curious where is the best place to spray my top coat, I’m worried about damaging my porch or any nearby cars if I spray outside but I know the fumes and whatnot are a problem when spraying indoors.

Is a cardboard box and a fan my only real option here? Am I being overly cautious about spraying outside? Where do yall do your spray top coat?

Water Slide Decal and Topcoat Questions From A Beginner (Sazabi Ver Ka)

Hi Folks!

I recently got back into Gunpla and I'm looking for some advice.

So far I've built four kits: MG RX-78-2 Ver Ka, HG Mighty Strike Freedom, MG Deathscythe Hell EW, and RG Wing Zero TV in that order. I panel lined them all and added the sticker decals to the Wing Zero (looks great).

I built a couple HG kits back in 2014, but wasn't patient and did a terrible job and didn't stick with the hobby. At the time I was enamored with the Sazabi Ver Ka, and it's lived rent free in my head ever since. Well I got one the other day, and I'm extremely excited to build it, but also terrified. I've wanted this kit for so long, and I really don't want to fuck it up. Since I don't have any experience with water slide decals, I figured I'd ask the community for advice.

I have a few questions:

  1. Is it necessary to do a gloss top coat before applying the decals even if I plan on using Mr Mark Setter? I've seen a few decal tutorials that don't mention a gloss coat, but in some looking I've done online it seems like it's a big help. I'm worried about adding another step that could I could ruin 😂

  2. What stage of the process is the best time to apply the decals? I’ve seen a few different approaches. For the RG Wing Zero TV I applied the decals at the very end, and it worked out fine, but those were stickers. Should I panel line and then apply the decals before doing any assembly?

  3. I want to do a matte top coat after the decals, I love the look of the sazabi with a matte finish. Is that something I should do before assembly as well? I don't want to mess up the coating while building it. Obviously i'll let it dry for an appropriately long amount of time, I'm just worried about pieces scratching each other as they fit together.

  4. Sanding. With a top coat, I've heard that I don't have to go super high, but is something like 1200 grit enough? Too much? Where do y'all usually stop on a kit you're going to do a matte top coat?

  5. Is there any other advice you can give a beginner who wants a nice showcase piece? I have really enjoyed taking my time with the kits I've built so far, but this kit is on another level in my head. I want to do everything I can to make this kit as good looking as I can with my beginner skillset. I really appreciate anything you're willing to share.

sorry for the long post!

My dream kit arrived today!! Was not prepared for how big the box is! Hand for scale

This kit has been living in my head rent free since I built my first HG in 2014. I just so happened to get back into the hobby right as I graduated college and decided to gift myself my dream kit.

I did not expect the box to be the size of the perfect grades I’ve seen on shelves. Holy shit. I’m a big guy and have big hands and this box dwarfs them, truly massive. I knew this was gonna be a big build but I definitely underestimated it. Looking forward to having a project to work on for a month or two 😂

This will be my first experience with water slides and I’m gonna do my first matte top coat I think. I’ve been waiting over a decade for this kit and I wanna do right by it. Might buy an EG to test that stuff on first.

Any advice from those who’ve come before me with this kit would be greatly appreciated!

I heard we have some Gunpla fans in the community!?

I never knew if Andy actually built any or if Greg was just being Greg.

Tell me what you’re building or what your favorite kit is!

I am in the middle of RG Wing Zero TV and have my dream kit, Sazabi Ver Ka, arriving on Tuesday!!

First Modern HG, Blown Away!!

Couldn’t be happier or more impressed with the Mighty Strike Freedom. Such a nice build and an amazing looking kit when it’s finished.

I’m so impressed by the HG Mighty Strike Freedom

For context the only other HGs I’ve built were the HGGS Strike Freedom and the HGAC Wing. I built those, very poorly, in 2014 and thought the hobby wasn’t for me. Fast forward to today, this is my second gunpla build in the last month (the other being RX-78-2 Ver Ka) and I’m so impressed.

First off it looks fucking incredible, it’s so impressive looking with the wings splayed out and all of the weapons attached. I was prepared to hate the look of the pink stickers in the wings, but they look awesome with the way they shine. The katana and darth maul style beam saber are a rad combination along with the railguns. I really wanna find some beam effect parts for the railguns as well.

Also the articulation, range of motion and poseability are top notch. Everything moves well and in so many ways!!

Overall I cannot wait to build another modern high grade and am really blown away by this one. However my next build, it arrived yesterday, is the MG Deathscythe Hell EW. Duo’s machine is so fuckin sick
