A New Home, A New Life

Welcome to the Andromeda Initiative! Many folk make this epic jump to another galaxy in the hopes of a new beginning. As long as you meet the requirements, your skill set and personality will be embraced in a new home. For many of us gazing at the stars and reimagining our tales, I am curious: which kind of job would you like to do if you had the opportunity? Which kind of skills would you bring to the table?

Would you be part of the Pathfinder team? Could you be assisting scientific research on a new frontier? Would you lend a hand in militaristic defense? How about working on improving diplomatic systems in anticipation of welcoming new species and forming a functional government? Or you could lend your financial experience to a new galactic economy? Perhaps you would be talented in entertainment, news coverage, fixing meals, serving alcohol, education, or tending to the medical needs of civilians. There is sure to be a position suited just for you! Feel free to describe what you excel at and what you may be interested in doing in Andromeda.

For me, personally, I would be more of a jack-of-all-trades. I like the idea of mixing it up with my skill set. The way I see it, in a new neighborhood, anything goes: adaptability is the key. Plus, it helps to serve more psychological needs when I have a fair idea of what civilians may encounter. This may even aid my sense of diplomacy, whether with an enemy or a friend. But you may have your own motivation and theme within the Initiative: I'd love to hear your perspective.

Neurodivergence in a New Home and Fresh Start

I'm recalling a conversation with Cora Harper. She was talking about Alec Ryder's pitch to her about Andromeda. What if she could live in a galaxy where her biotics would not be seen as scary? What if people could look at it and say it is okay? It got me thinking...

A lot of folks left the Milky Way to find new beginnings. I'm thinking about people with mental disabilities, like autism. Oftentimes, they do feel... different and excluded. How many of them would like to relocate to a new galaxy in the hopes of building a society where they would be more accepted and perhaps even cherished? Could we hope to create a better community where people are less judged and more appreciated for what makes them uniquely different? I'd like to think it'd be worth a shot. Thoughts?

Mass Effect: Andromeda... Ambience?

So, after a while, I returned to Andromeda to give it another go. I am having an issue I had last time, and I was wondering if anyone has found a workaround. I tried looking this up online, but I do not think I found a solid answer. Basically, the audio will have times when it starts stuttering out. It is noticeable enough to bug my ears, and I just bought new headphones. I'm on the PS5. If it isn't going to be a critical deal, and I just need to put up with it, I won't mind. I'm still invested in the story and game. But it'd be nice if I could try a few tricks first, see if it helps improve my experience.

Literature and Drinks

Are there bars or taverns in the area people would like to visit to read, study, and write that I'm unaware of? I may try them out if you point me in the right direction.

Unique, Challenging Lives of the Mass Effect

I'm a gamer who's only played the games and hasn't read or seen any material outside the games. So, I do not know as much about the world of Mass Effect as you guys may. I am curious: do the other alien races also have disorders and disabilities like humanity? I know the asari have their Ardat-Yakshi, but are there other cases I've either forgotten or am unaware of? What are the attitudes of the other races towards those deemed... different or hindered?

Keys to Victory

With the final update, we gained access to Domains. But to be able to generate a new Domain, we need certain tokens which could be obtained from corrupted castles. The "tokens," as I refer to them, look like banners with the AC logo on them. There is an exploit which decreases how many tokens you need to open a new Domain, but I haven't had to invest in it at all. I haven't had to worry about using all of my tokens in my trials. Were we given a generous amount? Or was I just good enough that I didn't need to spend so much in one place? How many of you had to worry about running out as you attempted to surpass the Domains?

Victory in the Domain! Yeesh...

I was able to make it through all ten levels of the Domain. Holy... cow. It definitely gets crazy. Level 10 gives enemies 150 percent additional health and 50 percent additional damage. In my level 10, I had to face off against Sandayu without access to my abilities. The modifiers and nightmare enemy behavior does make it significantly more challenging. Both the exploits you purchase with in-game currency and the weapons and gear you use going in certainly have an impact. Yes, I had noticed enemies just ignoring certain abilities I would use, and there were times when I felt nerfed. I hated it when the enemies would bully me into a corner. I especially despised the daisho who threw projectiles at you in levels when you could take much more damage. But I didn't give up. I adapted. I basically kept re-rolling until I got modifiers I'm willing to work with, and I maintained a stubborn streak. This drive of mine may also be why I willingly fully completed Valhalla two times and finished every mastery challenge in it at gold. Man... I will go back in, though. It is a great source of xp, and you can spend the currency you obtain on additional gear and weapons at MOD's store. For those of us who have made it through the challenge, I would like to raise a drink to you. You're awesome! For those who have struggled and really do not enjoy this mode, I hear you. I understand. I've definitely gotten aggravated a handful of times. I've encountered a few bugs, as well. Once, I got stuck in the wall of a ship. Luckily, you can exit the domain and reenter without any progress being reset. This also means you can exit as one character and switch to another if this strategy may work with you guys better. I really can't suggest anything more that may be helpful. I wish you the best of luck.

A Reason to Hope in the Shadows

A while back, Ubisoft offered gamers a survey for this franchise. For many of us, a bit of hope was felt. At the end of this survey, we could leave our final thoughts on what could be improved. Part of my response was for them to actually wrap up the storylines they initiated. Media which exists outside of the games shouldn't count in this case. I want to see effort. With this being said, seeing Ubisoft actually wrap up the storyline with the Templars and our heroic duo in Shadows pleases me. I do not know if I helped any with my suggestion, but I'm glad they do care this much, at least. How do you feel about how they're handling Shadows with this last update?

Drinks and Feels

M 29 here. I'm thinking about hitting up Stoli's Lounge on 120th this evening. You can join me if you wish. If not, it is fine. I'm in a contemplative mood. But I wouldn't mind lending an ear. Heads-up, though: there is limited parking.

Communication Preferences

I know social life can be a struggle. But I am curious: how many of us would actually prefer speaking with people in person rather than via text? I've noticed that I am ignored more often when I rely on online/text messages to communicate compared to speaking with people in person. People "seem" to accept me more in person. It's entirely possible that I'm just not good with words in text. I ask this because I notice on apps like Tinder, there is the option for people to say if their communication style is better in person or as a big-time texter. What are your thoughts?

Omaha Social Pursuits

I am curious: for everyone who has posted about wanting to meet people and make friends, have your searches been fruitful? Have you found what you sought? I don't need help. I just wanted to see how everyone is doing.

Interested in a Crossover?

M 29 here: I usually pay a visit to Barnes and Nobles near 144th Street for study sessions and Lake Zorinsky/Standing Bear Lake for a nice walk in nature. I plan on adding Lake Cunningham to the places I visit once my car is properly fixed. I also like eating out when I'm able, visiting a movie theater for films I am interested in seeing, and exploring the area. I'm currently eyeing the Prehistoric Putt as a spot to eventually check out. If you're interested, you could meet up with me at locations like this, and we could talk about intellectual topics, video games, literature we enjoy, life stories, etc. I also may be open to trying new hobbies if it works out right. However, I must respectfully ask that if we disagree on anything political/religious, we can be civil about it. I will not discriminate based on personal views. We can put aside the negativity in our lives, put down our phones and laptops, and try to enjoy a meaningful time in person.

So, if you may be interested in meeting up with me, shoot me a DM. We can set up the time and place we gather and hang out.

Cold Stone, Still as a Stone

I've noticed that a handful of Cold Stone Creamery locations are temporarily closed. A notice I saw at the closest one to me mentioned maintenance being a factor. Did they just really need a fix, or does this normally happen every once in a while?
