Scandal - Deep House Bible (DHB) - North Coast, Egypt - Aug, 6th 2026

This might piss off some people in the scene, but what happened at the Deep House Bible (deephousebible) event on the North Coast was completely unacceptable, and the silence afterward is somehow making it worse.

We bought tickets for a lineup featuring Ahmed Spins (ahmedspins) b2b Maz (mazmusic), Seth Troxler (stroxler), Brunello (brunello_mellowcircus) and Gawdat (gawdat.official). For most of the night, the event was fine. There were some occasional sound drops, production issues and the usual drunk fights you sometimes get at large events, but nothing that made us think the night was about to turn into something genuinely dangerous.

Then, sometime around Ahmed Spins’ set toward the end, something very strange happened.

All of a sudden, there was a huge wave of people running away from the stage. At first, we had absolutely no idea what was happening. Then we noticed that everyone was coughing, struggling to breathe and panicking. It took our group a few seconds to realize that what we were experiencing felt like tear gas or some other kind of airborne irritant.

A massive crowd started rushing away from the area trying to find clean air. We saw women becoming overwhelmed, with some apparently passing out or struggling badly to breathe.

The scary part was that there was no obvious cloud telling everyone where the affected area was. You basically realized something was wrong after breathing it in, and then everyone around you was trying to figure out which direction to move while hundreds of other people were doing exactly the same thing. In a packed event, that situation can become dangerous very quickly even before you consider whatever was in the air.

But somehow, through all of this, the music just kept playing as if nothing had happened.

That is the part I still cannot wrap my head around.

Hundreds of people suddenly running away from the stage, coughing and struggling to breathe, should probably be the point where somebody thinks, maybe we should stop the party for a minute and figure out what the fuck is happening. Instead, from where we were standing, it felt like the priority was simply to keep the event going.

And until now, nobody seems interested in properly explaining what happened.

I also find it extremely hard to believe that something like this simply appears inside a heavily secured event without anyone responsible knowing anything about it. I am not claiming to know exactly what the substance was or who caused it, but somebody needs to explain what entered the crowd, how it got there and why the event continued while people were running away and struggling to breathe.

This was not somebody dropping a drink.

This was not a speaker cutting out.

This was not some minor production fuck-up that everyone forgets about the next morning.

A large crowd of paying attendees suddenly started running away from the stage coughing and struggling to breathe, and somehow the people responsible for running the event still have not given them a proper explanation.

And this is where I think nobody involved gets to wash their hands of it.

Deep House Bible (deephousebible) was the event brand. Other Experience (other.exp) was listed as the organizer. Kyma Beach SouthMED (kymabeachsouthmed) was the venue, and Tellr Experience (tellrexperience) was the ticketing platform. I do not know which company was directly responsible for security, crowd management or the decision to keep the music playing, and that is exactly why the parties involved need to explain what happened.

Maybe responsibility ultimately falls more heavily on one party than another, but that is for them to clarify. You cannot all happily participate in promoting the event, selling the tickets, hosting the party and bringing thousands of people into one place, then suddenly become complete strangers when something serious happens.

At some point in that chain, somebody knew what was happening.

At some point, somebody made the decision to continue.

And afterward, everybody apparently decided silence was the best strategy.

What makes this even worse is what attendees say started happening on Instagram afterward. People began commenting about the incident, and some say their comments were deleted or their accounts were blocked. I cannot personally confirm every case, so if this happened to you, post the screenshots.

If that is how this is being handled, that is honestly pathetic.

If there is a reasonable explanation, explain it.

If somebody fucked up, admit it.

If somebody made a terrible decision, say what happened and tell people what is being done so it never happens again.

But deleting comments and blocking people asking questions does not make an incident disappear. It just makes it look like you are more interested in protecting the Instagram page than the people who bought tickets to your event.

Egypt’s electronic music scene wants international DJs, international branding, huge venues, premium table prices and increasingly expensive tickets.

Great.

Then maybe we should start expecting international-level accountability too.

You cannot charge people premium prices, put on a huge international lineup and market yourself like a world-class event, then have a crowd exposed to something that sends people running away coughing, keep the DJ playing through it and act afterward like nobody deserves an explanation.

And this should matter to everyone who goes out here, not just the people who attended that particular night.

Because once promoters learn that they can get away with something serious simply by waiting a few days, deleting comments and posting the next party flyer, what exactly is the incentive to do better?

So until Deep House Bible, Kyma Beach SouthMED, Other Experience and Tellr Experience acknowledge what happened and explain what they know, I genuinely think people should think twice before attending events connected to them.

Not because every incident needs a witch hunt.

Not because anyone wants to destroy somebody’s business.

But there has to be a minimum standard.

If you want our money, you owe us basic safety. And if something goes seriously wrong, you owe us an explanation.

The rave scene cannot become a place where organizers think they can just keep the music playing until everybody forgets.

People were there.

People experienced it.

People are talking about it.

Deleting comments does not erase that.

If anyone involved wants to publicly explain exactly what happened that night, I would genuinely like to hear their side, and I will update this post with their response.

Until then, the silence is part of the story.

Artist Spotlight: Ziad Mousa

Ziad Mousa makes more sense through a complete set than through a genre label. Calling him simply Afro house or melodic house does not explain the amount of ground his selections can cover.

His recorded Jingo closing set contains 38 identified tracks. It moves through deep and melodic material, vocal records, Afro-influenced percussion and more direct club tracks without sounding like several unrelated playlists stitched together. The progression is the interesting part: records are chosen for where they take the room next, rather than because they all belong to one Beatport category.

Jingo is equally important to understanding him. The first episode of Jingo Radio was presented as a collection of tracks close to him and an introduction to the direction of the platform. That makes him more than another DJ waiting for bookings. He is also involved in programming, introducing listeners to music and shaping the identity around his events.

His catalogue still leaves room for questions. There are recorded sets and edits, including his version of My City’s on Fire, but not yet enough original releases to establish a strong production identity. At the moment, his clearest strengths are sequencing, curation and knowing how to build a set over time.

I could not find a substantial interview in which he discusses his background or creative process. Instead of inventing a story around him, the available mixes are the better evidence. They show someone with broad taste and a good understanding of pacing, but they also leave the production question open.

For people who have caught one of his longer sets: is his range his main strength, or would you rather hear him commit to a narrower sound? And can a DJ build a lasting identity primarily through curation, or do the original records eventually have to arrive?

Artist Spotlight: ThatGirlSherryK

Judging ThatGirlSherryK through releases alone misses most of what she currently does. Her reputation is built primarily around DJing: controlling the pace of a room, moving between genres and understanding that an opening set has a different purpose from a closing one.

Her SoundCloud archive makes that range easier to inspect. The opening set for Francis Mercier at the Pyramids is warmer and more patient, while her opening for Stephan Jolk gradually leans into a darker and more melodic direction. There are also Afro-house, poolside and after-hours recordings. She is not trying to force one identical sound onto every booking.

That flexibility can be a real skill, although it also raises a fair question: what is the specific ThatGirlSherryK sound? Someone who reads the room well can become a dependable DJ without developing an immediately recognizable identity. Her sets demonstrate crowd awareness, but her limited production catalogue makes it harder to judge what she wants to contribute as an artist beyond selection and mixing.

Her route into DJing is also unusual. She spent years working in events, marketing and media before returning seriously to the decks. In an older interview about building Scoop Empire, she criticised platforms that constantly copy one another and argued that creators need to understand what their audience wants while developing their own voice. That was not a DJ interview, but it gives useful context: she was already thinking about audiences, programming and identity long before her current run of bookings.

Her management profile describes her strength as mixing genres and reading crowds, and that is a fair description of the evidence available. The question is whether she remains primarily a strong event DJ or turns that experience into original records and a sound people can recognize without seeing the lineup.

Have you heard her play live? Is versatility enough to give a DJ a distinct identity, or does she still need a stronger production catalogue?

Artist Spotlight: Awadly

Awadly has built his name around groove rather than dramatic drops: rolling basslines, percussion, minimal arrangements and enough movement to keep a dancefloor going without turning every transition into a spectacle.

His SceneNoise Select mix is probably the best introduction. It moves through groovy house and minimal tech with a warmer, more playful energy than the melodic sound dominating many Egyptian events. If you enjoy the stripped-back side of PAWSA, Dennis Cruz or Traumer, Awadly is one of the clearer Egyptian names working in that general lane.

The rooms around him also became bigger quickly. His artist profile lists shared bills with PAWSA, Dennis Cruz, Traumer and Damian Lazarus, among several international bookings. That does not automatically make someone a great DJ, but it does show that promoters repeatedly trusted him around artists with established audiences and very particular sounds.

His production catalogue remains smaller than his reputation behind the decks. Tracks such as Here We Are and Lil Groove show the same percussion-heavy, uncomplicated approach, but there is not yet a large body of original music that defines him outside the Egyptian party circuit.

The more interesting part of his story is Groove In Kairo. In his Casual Talks interview, he discusses the less glamorous side of becoming a working DJ: building relationships with crowds and promoters, creating opportunities and turning music into something financially sustainable. Groove In Kairo was his attempt to connect those parts of the scene instead of waiting for bookings to appear.

For those who have seen him live: does Awadly deserve his current position in the scene? And for everyone else, start with the Select mix. Does the groove carry the set, or does it eventually become too safe?

Artist Spotlight: Baset

Baset

Artist of the week: Baset

Trying to keep this weekly thing going so people here start recognizing the names in the Egyptian electronic scene, not just the international headliners.

This week I think Baset makes sense because he is probably one of the clearest Egyptian names right now if we are talking melodic techno going outside Egypt.

Style:
Melodic techno / Progressive / Peak-time / Festival melodic

For me, Baset sits in that big emotional melodic lane. Not hard techno, not minimal, and not really underground basement music either. More of the Afterlife / Zamna / big-stage melodic side, with vocals, big builds, and that dramatic festival feeling.

Why I am bringing him up:
Baset is not just a random local support DJ who got one nice booking.

Mixmag MENA wrote that he became the first Egyptian artist to collaborate with Anyma on Neverland (From Japan), released through Interscope. They also mention he is Cairo-based and has been active since 2014.

Before that, SceneNoise covered Sierra with Argy, saying it passed 1M Spotify streams in less than a month and reached number 5 on Beatport's melodic house and techno chart. SceneNoise also described his sound as heavy progressive rhythms with trance-like melodies, which honestly feels like a fair way to explain him to someone who has not listened before.

So whether you personally love the very melodic sound or think it is becoming too polished and mainstage, Baset is one of the Egyptian names people should at least know.

Good starting points:
[Neverland (From Japan) with Anyma](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm61yhp\_h4o)

[Sierra with Argy article](https://scenenoise.com/News/Egyptian-Techno-Producer-Baset-s-Sierra-Ft-Argy-Hits-1M-Streams)

[Mixmag MENA profile/article](https://mixmagmena.com/read/baset-becomes-first-egyptian-artist-to-collaborate-with-anyma-on-new-single-neverland-from-japan-news)

[NileFM interview/video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SakiZOoFEfQ)

Listen / socials:

[Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/artist/7ICFbeWRkxZ9JppxYRhtBl)

[Resident Advisor](https://ra.co/dj/baset)

For people who have seen him live:
- Is he actually strong as a DJ, or is the production name bigger than the sets?
- Best track from him so far?
- Is this the kind of melodic sound Egypt should be exporting more of, or is it too mainstage now?
- And where would you rank him among Egyptian melodic / techno names right now?

Thirst Trapping in Rave

Thirst-trap marketing is slowly ruining some of the rave scene here!

This might annoy some people, but I think it needs to be said. A lot of us are here for the music. The DJ, the sound, the crowd energy, the set progression, the moment when everyone is locked in and nobody is performing for Instagram. So when an event keeps marketing itself through hired models taking selfies, pretending to dance, or just standing around to make the party look “hot”, it honestly kills the vibe for a lot of older ravers.

And before anyone twists this, this is not about what women wear. Wear whatever you want. Be as covered or as naked as you personally feel comfortable being. Nobody serious in the scene cares. Same with female DJs. If the music is good, the music is good. A DJ can wear whatever she wants and still absolutely destroy the room. The problem is when the event itself uses women as decoration. That is different.

It turns the party from a music-first space into a “look how sexy and exclusive we are” campaign. It attracts people who are not there for the music, but for hookups, status, filming, flexing, and pretending they are in a scene they do not actually understand yet. Some commercial promoters know exactly what they are doing too. They are selling young ravers the idea that the scene is a dating market with a DJ in the background. So for future EgyRavers rankings, I will be ranking events down if their marketing leans too much on thirst traps instead of music. Not because we are uptight. Because we are here for the music.

Curious if people agree or if I’m just being old about this?

Artist Spotlight: Delrady

Trying to start a small weekly thing here where we get to know the names in the Egyptian electronic scene a bit better.

Not just the international headliners, but the Egyptian DJs/producers who keep showing up on lineups, labels, warm-up slots, afters, local parties, and sometimes quietly end up with tracks being played way outside Egypt.

First one: Delrady.

Style: tech house / funky house / groove-led house
If you are into the more groovy side of things, Delrady is probably one of the names worth knowing. More bouncy tech-house, funk/disco influence, playful basslines, and the kind of stuff that works well in a club without becoming too commercial.

Why I am bringing him up:
SceneNoise described him as a Cairo-based DJ and producer coming from a sound engineering background, with formal music production training from Berklee and Grammy Go certification. His sound seems to sit around house and tech house, but with funk, disco, blues, hip-hop and rap influences mixed in.

He released Big Big Dreams on Gawdat's DancIN' label, and SceneNoise says one of his tracks, Keep Working, was played at Burning Man in 2024. He also worked on / appeared around the Gawdat and Lily Farid track Love Machine, which went through DancIN' and had that Cairo-meets-global-house feeling.

Good starting points:
[Tafra Sessions interview/profile](https://scenenoise.com/Features/Tafra-Sessions-Delrady-on-Discovering-the-Art-of-DJing)

[Select 329: Mixed by Delrady](https://scenenoise.com/Sets/Select-329-Mixed-Delrady)

[Beatport](https://www.beatport.com/artist/delrady/696697)

[Big Big Dreams on SoundCloud](https://m.soundcloud.com/dancin-music-records/delrady-big-big-dreams)

For people who have seen him live:
What is his actual sound in a set?
Best track / best set?
Is he better as a producer or DJ?
And where would you rank him in the current Egyptian house / tech-house scene?

Starlight Festival - Lineup (Egypt)

Lineup is decent overall honestly.

But I can’t be the only one feeling like Adriatique and WhoMadeWho basically live in Egypt at this point!

One of the names I’m actually most curious about is Juno.

That harder darker sound feels way fresher than the same melodic rotation we keep getting.

And since this is literally open air at the pyramids, I honestly think Egypt could handle way more:
- harder melodic techno
- hypnotic sets
- sunrise/desert vibes
- weird underground bookings
- faster BPM stuff

Also… who do you guys think the blurred names actually are? 👀 Feels like there are still some pretty big surprises left.

Massive respect for the local artists too btw.
The Egyptian scene leveled up HARD the past 2 years.

Who would you wanna see booked at the pyramids next that would actually feel fresh?

Starlight Exit Festival

Who is going to the exit festival at the pyramids in October 2026?

Here is the promo on Instagram

A lot of people speculating whether PLUS can pull its weight and provide a similar to Sandbox but I am skeptical to be honest since PLUS has always been more on the commercial side and price-gated!
