Physics for newbies

Hello, i was curious if anyone has any suggestions regarding physics for newer learners?

Something very basic? Like a youtube channel, or books, or websites, something that would break it down for a beginner.

Thank you.

Questions about drug addiction?

I had some questions regarding drug addiction, and was wondering if reddit could give me some insight.

I know this is a sensitive topic, but i'm fairly uneducated on the issue, and all my questions are in good faith of understanding.

I was informed that some drugs like Heroin, and Methamphetamine provide such an enourmous high that your brain can't comprehend it. It feels so good, because your brain is actually overwhelmed with an external stimulator. Is this fairly accurate?

My only experience with addictive drugs was oxycodone. I was on Oxycodone for a toothache, and found myself craving them after my toothache was gone. I didn't feel any type of amazing high, but i did feel good, and relaxed if that makes sense. So my question is, Do different drugs cause different types of highs? A lot of people who use painkillers eventually switch to heroin(or so i'm told.) And i was wondering if the high from Heroin is similar to what Oxycodone is?

Regarding Fentanyl, my understanding is this is another drug similar to heroin, does this provide a similar type of high, addiction?

As far as Meth and Amphetamines go, what was it like?

Any insight would be appreciated, thank you.

Science book suggestions for dummies?

Do you have any suggestions for books relating to the universe, that are easy to understand for clueless people?

I checked out Stephen Hawkins the universe in a nutshell. It's good, but i can't grasp it.

Does anyone have any easier suggestions to start?

Turok N64 finished 😀

Well i just completed Turok on the N64(the remaster.) I saw it on steam, and bought it; I haven't played it since i was a kid, it came out when i was like 10.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun. When i played it years ago, i always used the cheats. I never actually played through it legitimately, i just picked random levels, usually boss fights, etc.

I enjoyed the levels and platforming a lot, i really liked the boss fights. The bosses seemed easier than i remember, especially the last ones.

I never **played the last level** before, and i was not prepared for how hard it was. I was really low on ammo fighting the big cyborgs, and the plasma rifle robots. I didn't think i would have enough to fight the campaigner.

I didn't get the chronoscepter, but it's okay, overall it was a great amount of fun.

Stapedotomy post op

It's been about a week since my surgery, pain is gone, dizzyness is gone, Feeling more normal every day.

It does still feel like my ear is packed though. I took the sponge out as i was instructed, but it feels like something is still stuck in my ear. Is this just inner ear swelling? It also feels very muffled when i speak.

Also, i haven't noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in hearing function yet. I have noticed some, but very minor.

Anyone have any input?

Sociopaths/Psychopaths

I have heard that sociopaths and psychopaths will try to manipulate people. I have also seen interviews with sociopaths admitting they feel a desire to take advantage of people.

When i heard this i was curious what that means? Like would they try to get the person to loan them money?

Would they try to make the person fall in love with them?

Would they pretend to like the person, just to get the person to do favors like buy them shoes, drive them somewhere, etc?

Stapedotomy post op

I'm at the 7 day mark, and i removed the gauze as i was instructed.

After removing the gauze, it still feels like something is in my ear, and my hearing feels/sounds muffled.

Is that normal??

I have read some people said their hearing took about 6-8 weeks to return.

Stapedotomy

I just had my surgery on Thursday, still pretty loopy.

For anyone else who has gone through this, would you agree the disorientation feels like you aren't yourself at all?

I have gauze in my ear for now, i can definitely hear better but it's muffled.

Very physically exhausting as well, i have been bodybuilding for 20 years, and walking up stairs is hard.

I was curious if anyone else went through the surgery, and when they felt comfortable driving again?

Dating a woman you aren't attracted to?

I'm very picky about women, unrealistically picky. A lot of the girls i have dated have been very attractive.

I go on dates, and honestly if i'm not super attracted, i just don't feel like even seeing them again.

It's been awhile since i have met someone new, and i feel like i should be more open minded and less superficial. I'm trying to find ways to be less shallow.

Have any of you dated a woman you weren't attracted to, and then became enamoured with?

Question about drug addiction?

Figured i'd ask on here because there is a large group of people to offer advice.

I am curious about drug addiction, and it's effects over time.

If someone is addicted to a drug like heroin for two years, and they eventually get clean, do the cravings go away?

Hypothetical, if someone is clean from heroin use for 5 years, are the cravings as bad as when they first stopped using the drug?

I'm basically asking if it eventually becomes easier, and less painful as years go on. I would assume if you stop using any drug, eventually your brain will rewire, and adapt to not having it.

I had an interview for an MSS position, it went very well. They reached out to references afterwards.

That was a month ago, and i haven't heard anything else...

Is this a good sign they went with someone else?

Why do women who aren't interested in a guy get upset if he moves on?

Example:

Seeing a girl for awhile, ask if she's interested in a different guy. She says yes.

You respond "okay, well there's no reason for us to talk anymore."

She starts crying. Why would i talk to someone who likes someone else? And why would she care what i think if she likes someone else?

Another example, girl says she wants to try and move on, you say "okay well if you want to move on, there's no real reason for us to talk anymore"

She starts crying. She literally said, she wants to move on.

Why would she cry, in either of these scenarios? My assumption is she just wants to keep you around for attention, backup?

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with schizo affective disorder, she was normal all the way up until her early 30s.

I have known her for a long time, and i feel bad for her. I speak to her and act only as a friend, i do not flirt or anything. I have explicitly stated i do not see her as anything more.

However, she has mentioned things like "would i bring her somewhere, and asked would i like to go on a date." She's also overweight, and asked if i "would ever date a fat girl." All of these lead to me saying no, absolutely not.

After saying no, she sent me a message explaining that she just wanted to check and make sure i wasn't "getting feelings." I feel like she was being manipulative here, I think she's getting feelings.

My honest thoughts are this girl is becoming more interested in me, and she's testing the waters by dropping hints and questions. If that's the case i'm going to stop talking to her because due to her illness, i don't want to make her situation worse.

What are your thoughts?

Did anyone elses OCD become worse as they aged?

In my early life, my OCD was very manageable. However, it seems to have gotten worse the older i get. In my 20's it started getting more apparent, and well into my 30s.

I was recently reading that mental illnesses in males tend to take off in the early 20s, and women early 30s, thus leading to my question.

I'm looking for trimmers that are good for anywhere around 1-5mm of stubble.

I have a very basic trimmer i bought for $30 but it doesn't leave much stubble, it's almost an entirely clean razor shave.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
