Porch pirates stole my cologuard sample.

Honestly, im more amused than anything. I hope they got what they bargained for.

My only concern is that my info was on it, and now I'll have to crap in a box again.

Looking for a good, comprehensive eye exam.

Hello fellow Charlotteans. I am looking for a good quality, *comprehensive* eye exam. I have a somewhat complex prescription. I'm also an Engineer, so I stare at monitors 60+ hours a week and also have to see very fine detail.

Yes, I know that's probably a contributing factor, but there's some things I can change and some I can't. Even outside of work I don't feel as if I see very well.

Admittedly, we're generally regarded as being difficult patients in optometry circles, probably not without cause. If I miss something, it can mean many thousands of dollars in rework, and weeks wasted.

I am looking for the best eye exam I can find. I will literally pay any price or drive wherever.

Please let me know your recommendations.

Recommendations for temporary backup storage solution?

HI all. I have a 60 TB NAS device that I will be upgrading to include an additional SSD for caching. Because of how my NAS is currently configured, the vendor advised that the whole array will have to be reinitialized, which while disappointing, I kind of expected.

In order to preserve the data I have currently, I am going to need to migrate it to another location temporarily. I have a fast (8Gb symmetrical) internet connection, so it would probably only take a few days to transfer. I am guessing it would also take me about a week to get the NAS upgraded and reconfigured, so roughly 2 weeks to a month of storage.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a vendor for this that won't break the bank? The SSD has pretty much eaten up most of my budget for this.

I would not need the backup outside facilitating the transfer, so a contract or subscription would not be useful. Unfortunately, many of the vendors I've researched seem to either be set up for long term storage/backups plans or have punitive transfer costs.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Verizon *retroactively* revoked a discount on my service. I'm sorry, but WTF?

OK, so for the moment, I have Verizon phone service. I say for the moment, because this is honestly perhaps the biggest dick move I've ever been the victim of from a cell phone company, maybe not as bad as the duplicate signup fraud from Sprint, but it's up there.

So I have Verizon postpaid service. They sent me a bill, and I paid it. Life is good. They then, the next month, decided they want more money and revoked a discount for a bill that I had already paid, and was not in dispute. Just to be clear, this was not a new discount or a mistake, and I did not somehow misrepresent something to get a discount. They admit I was indeed eligible, but decided to retroactively cancel it.

They are, of course, free to set their own prices, and cancel any discounts going forward, just as I am free to kick them to the curb, which I am presently doing.

However, this is analogous to buying an item in a store and then them showing up at your house and demanding more money. It's absolutely outrageous.

ULPT: Any good pharmacies in Belize/Roatan/Cozumel to buy pain meds?

They're not for me, so don't bother with the speech. If you don't know, you don't know.

I know the 'tourist' clinics like in TJ back in the day are largely a thing of the past. Just trying to keep my buddy from getting ripped or buying a bunch of fent.

Google TV is now showing ads for sports betting.

I use Google TV as a platform for my YouTube TV subscription, that I pay an exorbitant amount for. Their advertising was never really great, but I think it's sunk to a new low. What's next vape shops? Horny Milfs in my area?

The cherry on top was the 'Bet Now' link on the bottom. Place bets, from you TV! Come on, people. /s

Their only solution was to go into app only mode which severely hobbles the UI.

A word of warning about the Princess Cruises website.

We recently booked a 7 Day on the Regal Princess in June. Fortunately for us, our inability to plan ahead worked for us this time, and I was able to snag a Last Minute Deal, which included the Princess Plus package. This is clearly indicated on their website, and also in two different pages during the selection and checkout process.

Because I wanted to compare apples-to-apples with another line I was also researching, I made certain to select Princess Plus pricing. During the booking, selecting and unselecting Princess Plus pricing did yield a change in the price (standard being lower). Also, in doing so, I was not prompted to add Princess Plus during checkout, as you would be if booking Princess Standard. I went ahead and booked the cruise, but upon doing so, I found that Princess Plus was not included in our documents.

I reached out to Customer Service immediately afterwards, and they indicated that no, I did not have Princess Plus included in my booking. I told them that was exactly my point, in that I had paid for it, but did not receive it. They were very hung up on the fact that I did not 'have' it, where my point was that I don't have it because you did not give it to me, even though I paid for it.

Thinking I might have somehow made a mistake, I checked the website again. I made several mock bookings and got the same results. I then tried 3 other platforms and 4 different browsers, and again, got the same results. Here's what I discovered-

It appears that, this is indicated as it being included, however it mysteriously disappears during the checkout process. I double and triple checked the website, and their website still indicated it was included.

The process goes like this:

  • Enter selection criteria
  • Select number of passengers (Princess Plus included here)
  • Select room category and location (Princess Plus included here)
  • ????????
  • Checkout (No longer included)

I have screencaps of all of this, and also recorded a short video. If the Mods say it's OK, I will include links to both.

I want to reiterate that this was not an obvious mistake fare. While we did get a decent deal, it was not an unrealistically good deal, so no $1 fare or anything like that. We still paid around $3K for the cruise fare portion.

I am frankly, a bit annoyed by this, as it comes to about a $1,000 difference in what was offered, versus what they say is included. We have booked direct with multiple other lines, and I have never run into this, always getting precisely what I expected and paid for. In doing some research on this, it appears that 'website mistakes' are unusually common with Princess as compared to other carriers.

Since most of you live in the area, and have at some point, sought care from them, be aware that your data may, once again, be out in the wild.
