ADHD kids should also have extra eye exams for BVD

I think this is a little known thing so I want to put the info out there. There is a high correlation between ADHD and Binocular Vision Disorder (that makes reading and writing harder). If your kid has ADHD they need to have a different vision test that evaluates how their eyes work together. Most ophthalmologists that work with children can do this but they won't (in my experience) unless a symptom is brought up.

I discovered it accidentally when I was too busy and let my kid fill out the eye doc questionnaire on their own, which I only was able to do because they were older. I wish I would have known when they were younger so we could have fixed it sooner. YES it is fixable! A couple dozen vision therapy appointments and some at home exercises, nothing scary.

Experience with OpenEd? Public school/Homeschool option

So OpenEd is now available in my state and wondering how it went for anyone else who joined them?

We have to do weekly check-ins, virtual activities, required subjects and testing, so it seems like a lot to balance when we are usually pretty chill and have untraditional subjects (i.e., my 12yr old is learning medical terminology).

Canceling plans after meltdowns?

This is a constant struggle for me as a parent. We live far from most fun events so it takes a decent amount of cash and planning to go to one and its just me as a solo parent taking the kid. So my tweenager broke a safety rule that we have been crystal clear on and got the involved toy removed from their possession, decided to take no responsibility, flip out, refuse to use coping skills, and beat up the car, creating a very unsafe situation on the way home, despite having over an hour between the event and the ride home to calm down.

Now tomorrow I was supposed to take them to a special event that is basically full of people who like the same things they do, which is special because none of the local folks where we live are into this stuff. Transport tickets are paid for, event tickets are paid for etc.. But it feels very much like a reward when that does not seem at all warranted and I am worried for more meltdowns creating more safety issues.

Do you cancel plans after a violent meltdown? Or just carry on the next day like nothing happened?

Jobs post graduation with the MS of Business?

I'm looking at job listings and struggling to find ones that match up with most of the masters programs at UMPI. Wondering if anyone has graduated with one of the YourPace masters and landed a job utilizing it, which degree and which job worked out for you?

Sure by now most of us have heard the quote: "Men want power so they can have power over others and women want power so no one can have power over them."

How do we, as women, maintain our power in the workforce and in everyday scenarios, without risking our careers or safety?

Anyone have magic answers here?

My kid has taken a knife to the dishwasher tray and made slices all across it. Now a year later they took a bunch of chunks out of the top of the acrylic kitchen sink! All they have to say is "I don't remember doing that!" Screaming and slamming doors.

I can’t think of a good natural consequence, the sink is part of the countertop, it would all have to be replaced.

And they know we want to sell the house next year and how this stuff matter.

I feel like I have to put cameras up everywhere, which I do not want inside my home.

They do this with fruit too, just stab holes in it and walk away. Deny ever touching it like their life depends on it.

Its been years, when does it stop?!
