Anyone else been accepted and felt incredibly underwhelmed?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m very happy, I was very happy when I got accepted. But idk if it’s the chronic overachiever in me but I’m just like “ok cool I did what I was supposed to do. What’s next.”

It just feels like I can never be a winner. Just not a failure.

This isn’t meant to upset anyone who hasn’t got the A yet, it’s just more of an internal reflection I wish I knew how to fix.

HELP. School im interviewing at has a required info session on a day that I work.

I just got an II to a school that is requiring an hour long info session before the interview. It’s on Mondays ONLY and I work every Monday. I may be able to swing a deal where I can use my 30 min lunch break, and then figure something else out with my managers for the other 30 mins, but I’m worried about attire. I’m an ED tech so I’ll be in scrubs at the hospital. Will this count against me? Should I bring clothes to change into? The other option is just switching shifts with someone but that’s difficult.

Thought Touro would be a school id like and then just got their $200 secondary.

What a horrible secondary. Basically rewriting a PS on.. a word document? Like ok. But then it brings you to the payment page. $200??!! Are you actually being serious right now. This is so ridiculous. Probably going to not send the secondary.

KYCOM or LECOM Brandenton?

So, I have interviews with both around the same time. If I get accepted to both, I’ll only be able to put down a deposit on one.

Can anyone give me some pros/cons? I know KYCOM seems to have a super close knit community, good admin, student support etc. The downside is the area. Doesn’t seem like a lot of housing options or much to do, upside is that the housing there seems to be affordable.

Bradenton on the other hand is 1000% somewhere I’d like to live. Close to the gulf, more job options for my husband. However, I’ve heard worse things about the school like the super strict dress code and admin.

KYCOM gives me more warm and fuzzy vibes, but I’m worried about the quality of life/area. I’ll probably know more once I interview because both of them are on campus, but I’m interested to see what everyone else thinks.

Feeling kind of stuck and at a dead end. any other games that scratch the same itch?

I LOVE this game. I got seriously addicted but have slowed down because I've kind of ran out of things to do with my village other than continue to decorate. I could do more quests but they're not very fun. My village is pretty automated, have all the buildings, etc. I have no clue how I'm going to get the point of my character dying. Are there any other games that kind of scratch the same itch? I'm excited for the new Fable, but that's still for a while.

MY SECONDARIES ARE SO BAD

They’re actually horrible. I always thought I was a good writer but I’m not. They’re repetitive and all over the place and I’m never going to be a doctor. All the adcoms are going to throw up from disgust when they read my application the writing is so bad. I’m so backed up on secondaries too. It’s over for me. I’m looking up good sunscreen brands right now.

Just got asked if I’m the doctor (I’m a 22yo F)

I’ve reached the ULTIMATE premed experience. Almost 2 years working in the hospital as a tech, constantly being mistaken as the nurse because I am a young woman. I just got asked if I was the doctor. I thought it was a joke but he was being so serious. That was glorious.

Secondaries is making me realize how type B I am.

I have a master doc of all the secondary responses I’ve answered. Not even organized by prompt or at all. Just a bunch of random paragraphs. Then, now that I’ve done a bunch already, I’ve just been cutting and pasting and shoving them together or slightly editing to answer these new prompts. I haven’t even been revising much. Maybe I was born for emergency med. I’ve even started triaging my secondaries. I get pissed when I have a question that my slop of words won’t answer.

The worst part of secondaries is the fact that most of the effort is going to result in no reward.

Some of these schools I know my chance is super slim. Here I am typing my soul away spending hours and hours per school just to know I’m probably not going to get an interview. It really messes with the motivation tbh. Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t just ONLY apply to my state schools where I’m most likely going to get an interview anyways out of all of these schools 😩

Edit: yall I applied to my state schools I’m not dumb 😩

Is it worth submitting NOORDA secondary

I have IIs from KYCOM and LECOM Brandenton. I don’t want to do the video submission so bad. Don’t really care to live in Utah. Should I just withdraw?? For reference I have a 508 and 3.78cgpa and might have overkilled my DO app some…

Having baby between 1st and 2nd year?

Hello all,

I’m applying this current cycle and am super super grateful to already have 2 IIs. With that being said, I’m hoping to be starting medical school next Fall. If everything works out with my husband’s job and me getting the HPSP scholarship & getting in we will be financially stable and are thinking of trying to have a baby ideally between 1st and 2nd year (but understand it’s not that simple to plan).

If anyone here who has had a baby in med school has any advice that would be great! I know support systems are essential.

Puppy blues: it gets so much better

Just wanted to throw a little bit of encouragement out there for those really struggling with puppy blues and regret. My boxer mix is about 11 months now. We got him when he was about 6 months and it was a DIFFICULT adjustment. It was so hard raising a dog that had an unknown past that seemed to be very traumatic. The crate training, the potty training, the sleepless nights, the reactivity and the change to our routine sucked so bad. Here we are 5 months later and I have a hard time understanding how I could love anything this much. We have cats and they’re my babies and I love them so much but it’s just a different type of indescribable love I have with my doggy. He has turned into the cuddliest loving dog and although he still has his puppy moments and training regressions and accidents, we just get each other so well now. I am so happy I pushed through the hard times. Trust when people say it takes time to get used to your puppy and vice versa. I can only imagine it gets better from here. Hang in there yall!!

Gap year ER tech, love it but can’t afford to live

I’m applying to med school rn. I have been an ER tech for about 3 months. I love it. I work full time. It has its downsides for sure but it’s a great gap year job. My only issue is - my husband is about to start LPN school and really won’t be able to work much. I only make $17/hr, and I live in a moderately high cost of living area. I’m feeling really torn. I’ve been looking for jobs with my degree (public health) but there’s honestly not much. I just don’t know how we’re going to survive off of my pay. My parents haven’t been supporting me much since I’ve graduated college, plus they’re paying for my med school apps which is no easy ask. It just sucks how little techs get paid. I’m really upset that I may actually have to leave this job.
