Moving from Oregon for college! What sort of clothes, shoes, and bedding should I buy for the weather?

Hi! I'm moving from Oregon to Claremont (in LA county? Sorry if this is the wrong sub!) this summer for college. I'm pretty used to rainy/cloudy weather and I'm a bit unsure how to pack. Do I need any jackets, sweaters, or long sleeves or is it fairly hot/mild year round? Are sandals good everyday shoes or should I rely more on sneakers/closed toe shoes? In terms of bedding is a comforter alright or should I get lighter bedding and some throw blankets I can layer? I easily overheat. The only time I've visited it was peak summer heat and I unknowingly had COVID so my idea of the temperature over there might be a bit skewed lol. Any advice appreciated! Thank you :)

How much exercise is beneficial vs. harmful in a calorie deficit?

Hi! I'm 18, 5'2, and 122lbs in a 500 calorie deficit (~1400-1450 calories per day), I'm ultimately aiming to lose 15 pounds and eventually build muscle. I'm trying to figure out how to balance fitness in a way where I'm getting in shape without injuring myself or inadvertently hurting my progress. Right now, I've honestly just been going off vibes - running ~2-3 times a week and lifting once or twice. I would like to increase that and I'm planning to try lifting 3 times a week and running 3 times a week. I mainly just have dumbbells' in my garage and try to lift for 30-45min per session - currently my weekly mileage is honestly around 6-8 at a slow pace.

I feel like I've heard conflicting things about if it's even worth it to do much cardio/lifting in a calorie deficit so I'm wondering if you guys have any experience or advice with it :)

Does my current plan sound reasonable? Thanks!

Side note: I used to be closer to 15-20mpw but was pushing myself to go way faster than I should've and not properly recovering so I got injured. It's a bit discouraging to have my weekly mileage be shorter than what one run for me would've previously been but I've been fully recovered for a few months now, working on increasing mileage, and will be much more careful!

Can you refute the language placement results?

I got placed into an introductory French course from the placement test but I've passed the AP exam and have been taking it for 8 years. I should've ignored the don't study instructions lol. I don't mind taking a class or maybe two again but I'm really done with French and would like to take as few language classes as possible. Is there anyway to take another test or refute the decision?

Is there any point in submitting my AP scores if they don't go towards my major or GE requirments?

For example I got a 4 on AP stats but they only accept calc scores to satisfy math GE, is there any point in submitting? I'm an incoming freshman for context, not applying. Thanks! :)

Do I cut it or try to save it?

I ultimately want longer hair, about waist length but my hair feels so thin, frizzy and damaged(?). I have a hair appointment Sunday and i’m deciding between chopping it to ~ armpit length to start over or just getting a trim. I use OUAI fine hair conditioner, soapbox biotin & super fruit shampoo, and occasionally the elizavecca hair mask. I only use heat for special occasions, usually wear it down + only use satin scrunchies, and have never died my hair. It was really tame and shiny when I was a kid and I would love to get that back :(

Any advice or tips appreciated! <3

Not really sure what i’m doing wrong, I rarely use heat and feel like I have a good routine :(

TL;DR: Hang out with friends or study? Got invited to a sports game to hang out with friends, I really feel like we haven't just sat down and talked in a while + a girl will be there that I want to become friends with and haven't had the chance. I'm unfortunately a bit screwed on an essay and a bit of homework I need to get done. I'd be home in time to do a little more work but not as much as I should. They're already there and I've missed two hours of the hang out but I'd stay for ~1-2 hours more. I'm a senior in high school and already committed to a college, do I let the senioritis take over?

Edit: got to the game but they had just left for a friend’s house without me, essay it is lol
