You are an amazing city Vancouver! Thank you

Enjoying my home made lunch at the Langara campus as I wait for my friend to finish college.

I’m visiting Van for some leisure time and having such a calm experience. Love this city!

Also, lotsa love to the queer community here!

Help me make sense of this pls!

So I recently had two very sweet dates with a girl I met on hinge. I’m 41 masc, she’s 35 femme. The dates seemed to have gone well and I was in her city only for the next few days, and I asked her mildly in person if she wanted to stay in touch after I head back to India after a long travel. She said yes ecstatically. After I reached home, I thought I should make it clear that I meant romantically, and you can see her answer in the grey chat, she doesn’t have romantic feelings for me.

I totally get that and respect it so I rested my case and ended the conversation. She later pinged again if I was sure I don’t wanna be friends because she really liked hanging out with me. I politely declined saying it will get messy.

Then my friends told me I had put pressure on the girl with my message just after two dates. Since I don’t even live in her country and we have just met twice, there was no harm in just being friends and see how it goes without adding pressure of “I won’t see other people in that case”.

What would you’ve done?

P.S. I kinda do like her and I’ve asked someone out after 2 years. It feels like I’ve done something wrong already!

Looking for a co-working space downtown Vancouver

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a reasonably priced co-working space or a desk with plugs and WiFi at an office/co-work place. I’m a creative entrepreneur who runs a marketing agency, I work with global brands like Diageo, WHO, UN, etc. Happy to chat with fellow entrepreneurs and share notes, and get some solo work done too.

My best friends are too critical of everything

I love my friends and 4 out of many have been in my life for 25 years now. We are pretty close but not like “let’s meet every week”. I’m 41, and they are all 3-5 years elder to me. We are based out of Delhi, india. They love their alone time, hibernate, spend time with their pets. And we all meet once a month or so. We are all successful, tired of corporate, well travelled, smart women. I’m the lesbian entrepreneur in the group so my life is much more unhinged. I travel a lot. I’m in general an easy going person and make friends along the way.

Nowadays I’ve been praising Canada in our WhatsApp group chat, and this is not the first time, but whenever I’ve something positive to say about a white country, my friends take offence. We all discuss politics and our political views are mostly aligned, just that sometimes I like to see the good out there without shitting on everyone each time.

While I know most white countries have done excruciating things to their First Nation of their respective places, and I know a lot of effort is just for good PR, but 1 out of 10 things can be good too. And I hate that they always put me down for saying something positive. If being political means always hating on everything then I don’t want to be so political.

Ugh.

What makes a founder a failure?

I run a creative agency, and I'm great at my creative work, but I haven't been so good at running the business. Been in debt of 200,000 USD for the past 3-4 years. I have been running it for 11 years now, but the last few years, especially after Trump slashed funding for the social sector, things have been extremely painful. Funders don't have as much grant money as they used to, and I actively work with global clients in the social sector who are also broke now.

While I have expanded to other sectors, it's still a tough race since the competition is too much. And I'm tired of running a business in survival mode past 3-4 years.

Today i lost a big contract. Reason is not clear as they say it's because of some experience. And since the contract was with the Indian gov, I feel someone has bribed them to give another agency that contract. because our paper work, experience, quality was spot on. I know this work so well!

Can any entrepreneur be a sounding board and help me understand how they got over such obstacles? did they continue or shut down?

Any lesbians in Vancouver above the age of 30 who wanna hang out platonically?

Hi lovely folx, I’m in Vancouver for a week. I’m a 41 year old masc lesbian from India. I run my own design agency and have been traveling to US and Canada for work and leisure.

Looking for company to do some queer/art activities in van and get to know the city up close. Not looking for a date or anything sexual. Just a chill platonic hangout.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Looking for a pep talk from an entrepreneur who went through a long bad patch

I run a successful creative agency, but due to bad situation of bad partner and then stretched loans and investment in a side business, I’ve been financially fucked for 3 years now. I have barely taken any salary. I’ve great work and great clients and amazing team, but due to a very long backlog of expenses, I’ve been mentally suffering. I’m not able to clear the backlog. Looking at my company’s good work and good reputation, I do get work but that only pays the current salaries.

I tried cutting down expenses but new work came and I re-hired. And now one of the new and very big clients has been delaying payment by 4 months. I’m bleeding. Due to their operational errors, I suffer, my team suffers. I’m so tired of this cycle of firing and hiring. I know we have a great potential, but I just wanna cut the burn of this backlog. It’s 200k to be paid off. If I hadn’t taken that loan because of ex-business partner, I would’ve never needed one because I get good work.

Someone people give me a pep talk. Tell me how you got through a long bad patch in your business.

Why people match on apps and then don’t respond?

Repeatedly I’m facing this pattern of people matching with me on bumble and hinge, or them liking first and then I match. I’m always happy to be the first to start a conversation, 90% of the time I say “hey, how’s your <day of the week> going?” Or give a compliment or something interesting from their profile. Point blank I get unmatched. This swiping culture is so deteriorating. We end up treating humans like objects like the other person has no feeling and I always have to wonder something bad must’ve happened or they found someone else. But why do we just leave without getting to know someone?

Is it safe to travel to Panama in June 2026?

I’m going to Panama from India for a work conference and want to know if it’s safe to travel given the circumstances in Cuba. Even though they are not the same, but checking in nevertheless
