Was refused by 3 hotels to be hosted for being a solo traveler (single occupant) in tier 2 city of India.

Hello folks!

I go on a lot of solo trips by cycling. I mostly stay in hostels or dorms depending on the place. This one time I went to Ramanagara, KA for a short trip and decided to stay in a small hotel or lodge. Except for 1 place, all other hotels refused to host me. Is it because I was a single person looking for a stay?

I have experienced this before as well. I love to travel in rural areas for their green cover. But I always booked places before hand. It was first time I decided to stay spontaneously and it was very difficult to find a place to stay the night. Eventually I got one hotel which was in another town, Channapattana.

Is there a reason why hotels are refusing to host single folks? Or is it just a one off experience with me?

I recently got an email from cleartax:" Action Needed: Complete Setup to Keep Your Investments Running Smoothly"

Cleartax has shared an agreement online to be signed and only then will the mutual funds get processed. I would like to know if this is normal practice or something fishy I am about to sign? It's a long document as part of their website and I cannot download it.

Has anyone else received this kind of mail? Is it safe to sign?

Found this amazing fruit in Bengaluru near Sadashivnagar.

Can anyone tell what fruit or seedpod is this? I tried to break the inner layer but it is little hard to break easily.

Art and stories over coffee this Saturday at Treehouse, Indiranagar!

Hello Bengaluru!

I'm curating a space where strangers become familiar through stories - sharing anxieties, hilarious mishaps, tiny victories, quiet rebellions, and the moments that make us human. All this over coffee or tea. And this space is built with introverts in mind.

This event includes a guided art activity to reflect on how we view our lives. You get to carry the template home with you.

A little more context on what this space will provoke you to think or talk about...

  • Is it really difficult to make new friends in BLR?
  • Did you ever rebel against the decisions of your loved ones?
  • Is hustle culture all about motivation or toxicity?
  • Interesting places you didn't know, to hangout in BLR
  • Stories from school days/ childhood memories, funny, embarrassing, or serious
  • Are we living to the fullest or barely surviving in a time when countries are at war?
  • Is there something making you feel anxious lately? What is it?
  • What is your ultimate happiness chill pill?

and much more...

It's called The Banter Hour. We usually do it in Koramangala and HSR. For the first time, we are hosting it in Indiranagar, as many folks who are based in North BLR suggested we host it around there due to metro connectivity.

And we get it :)

This is a ticketed space at INR 399/- per person. It is limited to 15 persons. We still have 5 seats left.

DM me if this interests you!

Hello folks, I am hosting The Banter Hour tomorrow in Koramangala. You can connect with new folks in BLR over stories, conversations, and snacks!

We’ve capped the meetup at 15 participants, and just 6 seats remain. It's a paid meetup for INR 399/- per seat. This includes snacks/beverage.

To give you a bit of context for what kind of stories get shared: A corporate employee shared her story about how work-life balance is what she is consciously trying to achieve while setting boundaries to the toxic work culture. A guy showed us how he learnt skipping ropes and how it's helping him stay fit. A fresher from a non-profit workplace shared her experience of finding it hard to get her work noticed. There were conversations around how things used to be less serious as kids, which led to some hilarious school memories, and eventually to how it changed us today. A person shared his memory of writing a blog on the internet a few years ago, about his experience dating a girl for the first time in life. Another guy shared his experience as a college student, getting into a fight with another guy, who apparently came from a powerful political background.

Besides conversations, we have some fun prompts and self-expression activities designed for all participants, including people who need that little nudge to share or express it using art/doodles. All this over snacks/beverages.

We are looking to make it a full house. DM if you'd like to join us.

In India, we have speed breakers which are like bumps on the road. When riding my bike on such bumps, the pedals touch the ground (touch is understatement, they hit the ground). I have ridden hybrid bicycles before, where I let my one foot straight and pedal being at the lowest height and it never touched or hit the ground when riding on a bump. I am assuming this issue is due to the XS height of my current bike. But again, my previous hybrid bicycles have been the same size. Is this something I can ask the bike manufacturer? Looking to hear from people who have faced such a problem. Thanks in advance.
